Storm damage roof reports for homes and businesses in Epping Green
Our storm damage report gives you an independent, written record of how a storm has affected your roof. It sets out what is damaged, with photos, and what we think the likely cause is. It’s yours to pass to your insurer. The decision on any claim rests with your insurer and its policy wording. We are not loss adjusters, and we cannot tell you whether a claim will succeed. We survey chimney stacks, slate and tile slopes and flat roofs, and people most often book us about damaged gutters and fascias and damaged pots on the stack.
For a small place like Epping Green, the inspection is the same as anywhere: we simply plan the journey and access ahead. Tell us where the water shows, when it appears and anything you’ve noticed outside, plus any earlier repairs. Photographs of the stain and of the roof from outside are helpful too.
The report is written in plain words, so you don’t need to be a roofer to follow it. Photographs show what each point refers to.

When you need someone else
It’s a careful look at the roof, not the whole story. Its limits include:
- Damage hidden under coverings or inside the structure, without opening up
- Whether your insurer will pay the claim
- The work of a loss adjuster appointed by your insurer
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can phone 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll tell you. The full list of what we check.

How we price storm damage roof reports
To price your survey, we look at:
- The use of thermal imaging or a drone
- The package you choose: Basic, Standard or Premium
- Building height and the viewpoints available
- Whether it is a home or a commercial building
Prices start from £150, inc. VAT, for a Basic Survey. Standard is from £250 and Premium from £400, both including VAT. We confirm the exact price before booking.
What we need to know
If you can, have these to hand when you get in touch:
- Your postcode, so we can check access and travel
- What’s prompted the survey
- What kind of property and roof it is
- Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
Getting a price is simple: just phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and give us a few details about the property and we will explain which survey suits. We confirm the price before anything is booked.
Before and after the survey
You don’t need to be a roofer to help. What helps most:
- Read your policy wording on storm damage
- Tell your insurer about the damage promptly
- Hold on to fallen pieces of the roof where you can
- File receipts for anything you pay for
You get the report by email and pass it to your insurer yourself. It’s your record to use.
Ask a tree specialist about branches over the roof. Branches can hit or scrape the roof in a storm.
What we do, step by step
The visit has one job: to look at the roof as closely as is safe and record what we find. Everything we note and photograph goes into the written report. The visit typically takes about 1–2 hours at a house, and longer if the damage is spread across a large roof. In a small place like Epping Green, access is typically the main thing to plan. Mention any outbuildings, barns or garages you want included, and anything about the roof you already know. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays.
- First you give us the date of the storm and what you’ve noticed, inside and out.
- We view the roof from wherever it can safely be seen, including the loft where there’s access.
- Each area of damage is photographed and described.
- We note the likely cause, including any signs of wear that were there before the storm.
- You get a written report you can pass to your insurer.
Getting ready for the survey
- Show us where any leaks or stains appear
- Leave a clear route to the loft
- If it is not your property yet, arrange access through the agent

Questions from Epping Green
Do you cover Epping Green?
Yes, Epping Green is one of the places we work. Every survey there gets the same written report with photos.
Do you cover smaller places like Epping Green?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We cover the whole of London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.
Who handles emergency protection after a storm?
Emergency temporary protection is a job for a roofer. If it is safe, take photos before it goes on. We can record the damage in our report.
How long is the visit?
Expect it to take about one to two hours for most houses, and about three to four hours for a commercial roof. You’ll then get the report by email, on the timescale of your package.
Will my insurer pay for an old roof?
Insurers typically exclude wear and tear. Our report gives an honest view of what’s recent damage and what’s older wear. The claim decision is your insurer’s.
Can you tell me if my claim will be paid?
That’s not something we can promise. Insurers decide claims on their own policy wording. What we provide is an independent record of the damage.
Do you use drones?
Where it helps and it’s safe, yes. Whether we can fly on the day depends on the weather and the airspace rules. We hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID.
DIY checks: what’s safe
After heavy rain, check ceilings and the tops of walls for new stains. Take a photo and write down when you saw it, as it helps a surveyor trace the cause.
Keep a simple record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Share it with us as you book, as it helps us focus the survey.

Storm damage roof reports in Epping Green: local notes
In Essex, older buildings are often clay-tiled, many with weatherboarding, with post-war and more recent estates making up much of the newer housing. The covering and its details give the first clues when tracing where water is coming from. Historic houses such as Hill Hall, about 4.9 miles south-east, show how far back building in the area around Epping Green goes. If your house is among the older ones, expect a mix of original materials and later repairs on the roof, and a listed home or one in a conservation area may need consent for changes of material.
Take an older house close to Church of All Saints: the leak may come from a chimney, a valley or tired lead rather than the covering itself. Anyone responsible for a site like Epping Upland CofE Primary School will know that on a building that size, finding the source of a drip means looking well beyond the stain. For landlords with property near Roydon station, finding the cause of a leak fast keeps a tenant’s home dry and the work focused.
