Thermal Roof Survey in Bisham
Thermal imaging to find moisture and heat loss patterns in a roof for Bisham and the rest of Buckinghamshire. We survey on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
- Damp around roof outlets and upstands
- Possible trapped moisture under a flat roof covering
- Heat escaping through the roof
Do you need a thermal roof survey in Bisham?
Cold rooms under a roof, or high heating bills, lead some people to ask about heat loss. Gaps in loft insulation and poorly insulated roof areas can show up on the camera, especially when it is warm inside and cold outside.
These are some of the problems a survey can pick up:
- Damp around chimneys and parapets
- Leaks that are hard to trace
- Thin or uneven insulation in the roof
- Damp around roof outlets and upstands
For hotels and guest houses around Bisham, a roof problem found early is far less disruptive than one found by a guest.

Thermal roof surveys for homes and businesses in Bisham
Thermal imaging works best in the right conditions. It is useful to have a sunny day beforehand, a dry surface and calm air. Rain, wind and cloud can all make the patterns weaker. We’ll discuss the weather with you when booking, and our report notes the conditions and how they affected what we saw. If you are worried about leaks far from where the stain appears and areas losing heat at the eaves and junctions, we can find out what’s behind it, on loft conversions, insulated roof spaces and pitched roof slopes alike.
Some older homes in villages like Bisham are listed or in a conservation area. Neither a drone survey nor a thermal survey involves any work on the roof, which suits a building where any change needs care. Check with the council before planning any work on a listed building or one in a conservation area.
Every survey ends with a written report, with photos, sent by email. It explains the condition of the roof, the defects we found and what we recommend.

Bisham questions
Do you carry out roof surveys in Bisham?
Yes. We survey roofs across London and South East England, and Bisham is part of that. Just phone 07833 053749 or send us an email and let us know about the property, and we will talk through which survey suits.
Is my home in Bisham listed or in a conservation area?
Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.
Can you check my loft insulation with a thermal camera?
It can show temperature patterns that point to missing or thin insulation. It shows most clearly when it’s warm inside and cold outside. We look from the loft as well, where there is safe access.
Will the camera show exactly where the water is?
Not directly. It shows surface temperature, and wet areas can show up because they hold heat differently. We confirm what it suggests with moisture readings.
Will you fly a drone over my roof?
Where it helps and it’s safe, yes. Flights depend on the weather on the day and airspace rules, including flight restriction zones near airports. We’re a CAA-registered drone operator.
Does thermal imaging work on slate and tile roofs?
On pitched roofs, the camera can point to heat loss and some damp patterns. Our report is clear about what can be read from them, and we check them with a visual inspection and moisture readings.
How much does a thermal roof survey cost?
Thermal imaging is included in our Premium Survey, from £400. The Premium Survey also covers a full inspection, drone inspection where it applies, structural analysis and a report on the same day.
Airspace, weather and Bisham roofs
Some villages in Buckinghamshire still have thatched roofs. In this part of the South East, older roofs are mostly slate or clay tile and many newer ones concrete tile. Many roofs like these can’t be judged properly from the pavement, and that’s where a view from above or a thermal image earns its place. Within a mile and a half or so of Bisham there are several hotels, and like offices and blocks, hotels often sit under flat roofs. For hotels and other commercial buildings, large roofs are where photos from the air and thermal images show the most at once.
The streets around a church such as Church of All Saints are frequently among the oldest in a place, and if your home is one of the older ones nearby, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help. With Harleyford Manor about 1.5 miles west, the area around Bisham has a long history. A drone or thermal survey doesn’t involve any work on the roof, which suits older buildings.
Bisham is about 1 mile south of Marlow, in Buckinghamshire. From houses to flats and shops in Bisham, the roof can be surveyed on a weekday or at the weekend. We cover towns and villages across Buckinghamshire, large and small. You can also see our page for Reading.
We work across the SL7 postcode area for thermal roof surveys. We offer thermal roof surveys to properties on Bisham Court, Marlow Road and Vansittart Road and the roads around them. Neighbouring places we cover for thermal roof surveys include Temple (1 mile south-west), Marlow (1 mile north), Cookham Dean (1 mile east), Pinkneys Green (2 miles south) and Cookham (2 miles east). Within a short drive, we also cover High Wycombe (5 miles north), Chesham (13 miles north-east), Amersham (11 miles north-east), Beaconsfield (7 miles north-east), Chalfont St Peter (10 miles east) and Princes Risborough (12 miles north).

What affects the price in Bisham
The price reflects the time and kit the roof needs. The main factors are:
- How many separate roofs there are, such as extensions, dormers and garages
- Chimneys, valleys, parapets and other details
- The package you choose: Basic, Standard or Premium
- Height and safe access
A Basic Survey starts from £150, including VAT. Standard is from £250 and Premium from £400, both inc. VAT. You will know the price for your roof before booking.
Helping us price your survey
We will usually ask about:
- The address and postcode of the property
- Any photos you have, taken from ground level or a window
- The type of building and roof, like pitched or flat
- Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
Unsure which package suits your roof? The easiest way is to phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and describe the roof and why you want it surveyed. We will talk you through the options and what they cost.
What we do, step by step
A survey visit follows a simple order: we hear what you’ve seen, look at the roof from every safe viewpoint, photograph what we find and make notes for the report. It typically takes an hour or two on an ordinary house; commercial roofs usually need 3–4 hours. In a hamlet or village like Bisham, a postcode does not always lead to the right gate, so a few directions, or a note of a nearby landmark, help us arrive on time. After that, the survey runs as it would anywhere.
- First we discuss the roof, any damp and the forecast for the visit.
- The roof is inspected visually from safe positions.
- Thermal images are taken across the roof and, where there’s safe access, in the loft.
- We take moisture readings where the images suggest a problem.
- The report pairs each thermal image with a photo and explains what it suggests.
How to prepare
- If it is not your property yet, arrange access through the agent
- Make a note of anything you’d like us to look at
- Gather any invoices or paperwork from past roof work
How to book
Photos help, if you have them. Take them safely from the ground or a window, and please do not climb up for a closer look. To send them or to book, call 07833 053749 or send us an email.

Practical tips
Over many surveys, some simple habits stand out:
- Photograph damp patches with the date
- Remember the conditions on the day affect the results
- Don’t switch the heating off ahead of the visit
- Keep the report to compare against after any repair
Premium Surveys include an in-person consultation, giving you the chance to talk through the images and findings. A follow-up 12 months later is included as well.
Watch for new damp patches on ceilings beneath the roof. Catching a leak early stops insulation getting soaked.
Can I check my roof myself?
After heavy rain, check ceilings and the tops of walls for new stains. Photograph them and note the date, which helps when we look at the roof.
After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Don’t go up yourself.
