Thermal roof surveys for homes and businesses in Harold Park

Our Premium Survey, from £400, brings together a full roof inspection and thermal imaging. It also includes a drone inspection where it applies, a structural analysis and a same-day report. There is an in-person consultation as well, plus a follow-up 12 months later. To book, just ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form with the address and what you’ve noticed. Larger commercial roofs are quoted for their size. If you’re worried about gaps in loft insulation and wet insulation beneath the membrane, we can find out what’s behind it.

In smaller places like Harold Park, many homes are bungalows and houses with roofs you can partly see from ground level. The parts you can’t see, such as rear slopes, valleys and chimney tops, are where a drone or thermal camera adds detail. The forecast decides the day, as calm, dry conditions suit both. Close-up images frequently show wear on ridges, verges and flashings that cannot be judged properly from ground level.

The report records the roof as we found it on the day. It’s useful straight away, and a good reference for later.

Landlords, agents and block managers in Harold Park

Letting agents frequently book on a landlord’s behalf, and the report can go to both. Access is agreed with the tenant beforehand.

Shared roofs need a little more planning: we need access agreed with the building owner or managing agent. Tell us about it when booking and we will plan the survey around it.

Before and after the survey

Some practical points come up on survey after survey. They apply to most roofs:

  • Let us know where and when you’ve seen damp or stains
  • File the images with your roof records
  • Keep dated photos of any marks on ceilings
  • Don’t climb onto the roof to look for leaks yourself

If you’re buying, the report gives you specific points to raise with the seller or agent. What you do with it is up to you, whether you ask for work before completion or discuss the price.

Keep outlets and gutters clear so water drains off the roof quickly. The less water sits, the less can find its way beneath.

Harold Park: your questions answered

Will you come out to Harold Park?

Yes, Harold Park is on our map. Villages and rural addresses get the same survey as a town house, with the route planned beforehand.

How do I find out if my home in Harold Park is listed?

Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.

How much does a thermal roof survey cost?

It comes with our Premium Survey, which starts from £400. That also includes a full inspection, a drone inspection where it applies, structural analysis and a same-day report.

Does thermal imaging detect leaks directly?

Not directly. It shows temperature, and wet materials often behave differently from dry ones. We confirm what it suggests with moisture readings.

How does a thermal imaging roof survey work?

It records surface temperature across the roof. Differences can suggest wet areas, missing insulation or heat loss, which we then check with moisture readings.

Is this a RICS survey?

No. Our survey looks at the roof, not the whole building. If you need a full building survey, you’ll need a RICS survey as well.

Do you test for asbestos?

No. We don’t carry out asbestos surveys or testing. If we see materials that could contain asbestos, such as cement roof sheets or soffits on buildings from before 2000, we flag them and suggest a specialist asbestos surveyor checks them before any work.

What a thermal roof survey looks like in Harold Park

About 1.7 miles south-west lies Hare Hall, a reminder of how long the area around Harold Park has been built on. Older roofs in the wider area can hide decades of patch repairs, so the detail matters, and any change of roofing material on a listed home needs checking with the council first. Where the drone is part of the survey, the flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first.

If your home is one of the older ones in the streets near St Paul, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image. If you look after a building such as Harold Court Primary School, big roofs are where close-up aerial shots and thermal images show the most at once. Shop and office owners around The Mercury Mall may find that big, flat commercial roofs are where aerial photos and thermal images help most.

When you need someone else

It helps to know what a survey won’t do before booking:

  • Confirming water without moisture readings
  • Reliable images in rain, strong wind or on a wet roof surface
  • Whether the deck or roof structure is strong enough

If you’re not sure which survey you need, call 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll give you a straight answer. What a survey covers and does not.

Roof types and parts we check

  • Ceilings below the roof
  • Commercial roofs
  • Flat roofs
  • Pitched roof slopes
  • Insulated roof spaces
  • Loft conversions

What a survey costs

Prices always include VAT. What changes the price is:

  • Any need for thermal images or a drone flight
  • Whether it’s a home or a commercial building
  • How complicated the roof is, with its valleys, chimneys and parapets
  • Height and safe access

For a price for your roof in Harold Park, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email with the address and a few details. We’ll confirm the figure before booking.

Getting in touch

When you call or email, these details help:

  • Where water is showing inside, if it is
  • The address and postcode of the property
  • Pictures from the garden or a window, if you have them
  • Any deadline, like an exchange date

If you have photos of the roof, send them over. Take them safely from the ground or a window, and please don’t climb up for a closer look. To send them or to book, ring 07833 053749 or email us.

The survey, step by step

After the inspection, everything we found is written up as a written report with photographs. On timing, most surveys take an hour or two for most houses, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. Some parts of a survey depend on the weather, so a visit to Harold Park is booked with the forecast in mind: the parts that need calm, dry weather are planned around it.

  1. You tell us about the roof and any damp, leaks or cold rooms.
  2. We check the conditions and note how they may affect the images.
  3. A full inspection and thermal imaging are carried out together.
  4. We back up the thermal patterns with moisture readings.
  5. The Premium report reaches you the same day, and we go through it with you in person.

Before the survey

  • Keep pets out of the way during the survey
  • Move anything stored under the loft hatch
  • Buyers: confirm access with the estate agent or seller

Booking a survey

If you’re buying, it helps to book soon after your offer is accepted, so you have the findings in time to act on them before you exchange. For any other survey, just ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email when you are ready.

Advice

DIY checks: what’s safe

What you cannot do safely is get up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery, and a fall can be serious. That part is for a survey, using safe viewpoints and a drone where it applies.

Your own check is a good start, but it is not a survey. You will not see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from the ground, and those are details a survey looks at closely.
