Thermal imaging roof survey in Jordans, Buckinghamshire
Independent thermal roof surveys in Jordans. More than 5,000 surveys completed across London and South East England.
- Thin or uneven insulation in the roof
- Possible trapped moisture under a flat roof covering
- Leaks that are hard to trace
What we look for on each type of roof
Felt and asphalt flat roofs
Felt and asphalt roofs often show wet areas as patches that differ from the rest. We check those patches with moisture readings.
GRP fibreglass roofs
GRP surfaces can be shiny, which affects thermal readings. We take that into account and check findings with moisture readings.
How a thermal roof survey works in Jordans
What a thermal camera can show depends a lot on the weather. A sunny day before the survey, a dry roof surface and little wind all help. Rain, wind and cloud can all make the patterns weaker. We will discuss the weather with you when booking, and the report explains how the conditions on the day affected the results. If you are worried about possible trapped moisture under a flat roof covering and water getting in at parapets and stacks, a survey will tell you what’s going on, whatever the roof.
Somewhere as small as Jordans, older roofs are often steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you cannot get from the ground. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.
Where we can’t see part of the roof, the report says so. That way, it’s clear what was covered and what wasn’t.

Airspace, weather and Jordans roofs
With Chenies Manor House about 5 miles north-east, Jordans sits in an area with a long building history. Period homes nearby can have lead valleys, tall chimneys and a patchwork of past repairs, and the council can say whether a home is in a conservation area. Some villages in Buckinghamshire still have thatched roofs. Across the South East, older homes tend to have slate or clay tiles, and many later ones concrete tiles. Many roofs like these can’t be judged properly from the pavement, and that is where a view from above or a thermal image earns its place.
Take an older house close to Church of Holy Trinity: older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help. If you look after a building such as Jordans School, thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof.
Jordans is about 2 miles east of Beaconsfield, in Buckinghamshire. We carry out thermal roof surveys in Jordans for houses, flats, blocks and commercial buildings, with a written report and photographs every time. What a survey costs
When we price a survey, we consider:
- The shape of the roof and its details
- House, block, shop or office
- How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
- Extensions, dormers and garages with roofs of their own
Our price is from £400, including VAT. Basic starts from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, VAT included, and we can help you choose.
Getting in touch
A little information up front helps. It helps to include:
- The kind of building and roof involved
- Any stains, drips or damp patches you’ve seen indoors
- Photos of the roof, taken safely from the ground or a window
- Anything about access we should know
Our phone lines are open seven days a week, including Saturdays and Sundays. To book or ask a question, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email.
What a thermal roof survey does not cover
A survey is a close look at the roof, but it can’t do everything. Its limits include:
- The condition of timbers we can’t see
- Insulation values or heat loss calculations
- Reliable images in rain, strong wind or on a wet roof surface
If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll point you to the right survey. What a survey covers and doesn’t.
What we look at
- Pitched roof slopes
- Ceilings below the roof
- Insulated roof spaces
- Flat roofs
- Commercial roofs
- Loft conversions
Jordans: your questions answered
Does a conservation area affect roof work in Jordans?
The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. It’s worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.
Will you come out to Jordans?
Yes. Jordans is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We survey roofs across London and South East England. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when booking.
How much does a thermal roof survey cost?
It comes with our Premium Survey, which starts from £400. The Premium Survey also covers a full inspection, drone inspection where applicable, structural analysis and a report on the same day.
How long have you been surveying roofs?
We’ve been surveying roofs for over 20 years and have carried out more than 5,000 surveys.
How does a thermal imaging roof survey work?
A thermal camera shows differences in surface temperature. The patterns can suggest wet insulation, gaps in insulation or heat escaping. We check what it shows with moisture readings.
Do you use drones?
Yes, where it applies and safe. We fly a sub-250g drone and we are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). Drone inspection is part of the Drone Roof Survey and the Premium Survey, where it applies.
How fast do I get the report?
The Premium Survey report comes the same day, the Standard within 24–48 hours and the Basic within 48 hours. Each one is emailed.
How the survey works
On the day, we start by asking what you’ve noticed and what you need to know. After that, we look at everything we can see safely, from ground level, from windows, in the loft space and by drone where applicable. Most surveys take about 1–2 hours at most homes, while a commercial roof takes nearer three to four hours. Somewhere as small as Jordans, access is frequently the only tricky part. Mention any outbuildings, barns or garages you want included, and anything about the roof you already know. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays.
- We start by discussing the roof, any signs of damp and how the weather may affect the images.
- We look at the roof from ground level, from windows and from the roof itself where it is safe.
- We take thermal images of the roof to pick up temperature patterns.
- Any patterns of interest are checked with moisture readings where we can reach them.
- The report sets out the images, what they suggest and what we recommend.
Getting ready for the survey
- Keep pets out of the way during the survey
- For a flat or shared roof, check access with whoever owns or manages the building
- Point out any leaks or damp patches

Surveys for landlords and agents in Jordans
Where a roof is shared: access has to be agreed with whoever owns or manages the building. Mention it when you get in touch and we will plan the survey around it.
Letting agents often book on a landlord’s behalf, with the report sent to whoever needs it. We agree a time with the tenant beforehand.
Why get it checked now?
If a big flat roof may need replacing, knowing the wet areas first is useful. Images backed by moisture readings show where problems seem to be before you commit. In a small place like Jordans, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.
Larger roofs, taller buildings and commercial roofs take longer, so they’re priced to match. You will know the figure before booking.
