About our thermal roof survey in Middlegreen

Our Premium Survey, from £400, brings together a full roof inspection and thermal imaging. It also includes a drone inspection where applicable, a structural analysis and a same-day report. An in-person consultation and a 12-month follow-up are included too. You can phone 07833 053749 or send us an email with the address and a note of what you’ve noticed. For big commercial roofs, we quote on size and access. If you’ve noticed cold areas below the roof and moisture around outlets and upstands, a survey will tell you what’s going on.

Somewhere as small as Middlegreen, older roofs are often steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you cannot get from the ground. Weather and airspace are looked at ahead of the visit. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.

After the visit, you get a written report with photographs, emailed to you. It explains the condition of the roof, the defects we found and what we recommend.

Landlord and commercial surveys in Middlegreen

An agent can book and manage the survey for a landlord, and the report can go to both. Access is agreed with the tenant ahead of time.

For blocks of flats, a roof survey helps managing agents and residents’ management companies plan ahead. Recommendations are set out by urgency where it matters.

Flying and imaging in Middlegreen

Middlegreen is about 2 miles from the edge of the flight restriction zone around Heathrow Airport. If your survey includes the drone, we check the exact boundary for the address before flying. Older houses in the South East frequently have slate or clay tile roofs, while many later estates have concrete tiles, with flat-roofed extensions, dormers and garages common everywhere. Where a roof is steep, tall or hard to see from ground level, drone photos and thermal images add detail.

If you look after a building like The Langley Academy Primary, thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof. With Windsor Castle about 2.8 miles south-west, the area around Middlegreen has a long history. Close-up aerial shots and thermal images let an old roof be checked without anyone disturbing it. The streets around a church like St Mary the Virgin Church are frequently among the oldest in a place, and if yours is one of the older homes nearby, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.

Middlegreen is about 2 miles east of Slough, in Slough. Middlegreen gets the same service as everywhere else we work: a careful inspection, photos and a written report. Our area takes in places right across Slough. For surveys nearby, see our Guildford page.

What this survey cannot tell you

Before you book, it’s worth knowing what a survey won’t do:

  • Readings unaffected by sun, shade or reflections
  • Proving moisture from the images alone
  • A formal energy assessment

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will tell you. The full list of what we check.

What we look at

  • Insulated roof spaces
  • Pitched roof slopes
  • Ceilings below the roof
  • Loft conversions
  • Flat roofs
  • Commercial roofs

Tips that help

A survey works best with a little help from you, before and after. Tips:

  • Don’t switch the heating off ahead of the visit
  • Keep outlets and gutters clear to stop water sitting
  • Make sure the loft can be reached safely
  • Remember the conditions on the day affect the results

If you are buying, the report gives you specific points to raise with the seller or agent. It is your decision how to use it, whether you ask for work before completion or discuss the price.

After repairs or a new covering, a later survey can confirm things are dry in suitable weather.

Common questions in Middlegreen

How do I find out if my home in Middlegreen is listed?

Start with Historic England’s list for listing and your council for conservation areas. Either can affect what roof work is allowed, so it’s worth checking before planning any.

Will you come out to Middlegreen?

We do. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one, with the route planned beforehand.

Does the weather affect a thermal survey?

Conditions on the day have a big effect on what the camera can show. Dry, calm weather after some sun gives the best chance of clear images. We record the conditions in the report, so you know how much weight to give the images.

How soon will I get the report?

Each package has its own report time. Basic is within 48 hours, Standard is 24–48 hours and Premium is the same day. If you have a deadline, like an exchange date, let us know when you book.

Will you walk on the roof?

Not always. Safety comes first, and fragile or steep roofs cannot always be walked on. We use safe viewpoints, the roof space and a drone where applicable.

Will I get photos?

Yes. The report includes photographs of what we found.

Which survey includes thermal imaging?

It comes with our Premium Survey, which starts from £400. That also includes a full inspection, a drone inspection where it applies, structural analysis and a same-day report.

Roof by roof

Loft insulation

The difference is clearest when the home is heated and it is cold out. We explain in the report how the conditions on the day affected what we saw.

Felt and asphalt flat roofs

Felt and asphalt roofs often show wet areas as patches that differ from the rest. We check those patches with moisture readings.

How it works

The visit typically starts outside and finishes in the loft: first the slopes, edges and gutters from every safe viewpoint, then the loft space where it can be reached. All told, expect about one to two hours at a house, including the thermal images, and around 3–4 hours for a commercial roof. Rural addresses near Middlegreen can be hard to find from a postcode alone, so a few directions, or a note of a nearby landmark, help us arrive on time. After that, the survey runs as it would anywhere.

  1. We start with the roof, its history and any signs of damp or heat loss.
  2. We check the conditions and note how they may affect the images.
  3. We inspect the roof and take thermal images during the same visit.
  4. Moisture readings are used to check what the camera shows.
  5. The Premium report reaches you the same day, and we go through it with you in person.

DIY checks: what’s safe

Keep a simple record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Share it with us when booking, as it helps us focus the survey.

You can learn a lot from the ground. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Please don’t climb up for a closer look.
