Thermal imaging roof survey in Ticehurst, East Sussex
Thermal roof surveys for homes and businesses in Ticehurst. More than 5,000 surveys completed across London and South East England.

Honest limits
Some things can’t be seen without opening up the roof, and that sets some limits:
- Proving moisture from the images alone
- Readings unaffected by sun, shade or reflections
- What’s inside walls or under coverings, without opening up

Thermal roof surveys for homes and businesses in Ticehurst
A thermal camera can help when the cause of damp isn’t obvious. Leaks frequently run along a roof before they appear on a ceiling, and the camera can show patterns that help us follow it. We combine the images with a visual inspection and moisture readings, so the findings don’t rely on the camera alone. We are often asked to look into thin or uneven insulation in the roof and leaks far from where the stain appears, across loft conversions, insulated roof spaces and commercial roofs.
Villages like Ticehurst frequently stand in open country, where wind can be strong. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or a downpour, and thermal imaging works best with little wind. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.
The written findings come by email, ready to forward to whoever needs them. Basic reports come within 48 hours, Standard within 24–48 hours and Premium on the day.

How the survey works
Photos are taken throughout the visit, so the report shows exactly what we saw. Close-ups come from the safest viewpoint available. A typical visit takes an hour or two for a house, with bigger or more complicated roofs taking longer. For a village or hamlet like Ticehurst, the journey is planned ahead of time: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. The roof is looked at from the ground, from windows, from the loft where there’s safe access and from the roof where it’s safe.
- First we go over the roof, the problem you’ve noticed and the conditions forecast for the visit.
- We carry out a visual inspection of the roof from wherever it can be seen safely.
- We take thermal images of the roof to pick up temperature patterns.
- We check the patterns that stand out with moisture readings where there’s safe access.
- You get a report with thermal images, photos and our recommendations.
Before we arrive
- If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building
- Buyers: confirm access with the estate agent or seller
- Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors

Advice
Rented homes, blocks and businesses
Letting agents and landlords in Ticehurst book surveys as well as householders. The report gives you a dated record of the roof, with photos, useful for planning maintenance.
Businesses and commercial landlords can book us too. Larger roofs take longer, and they’re priced for the size.

What affects the price in Ticehurst
A few things affect what a survey costs:
- Chimneys, valleys, parapets and other details
- Roof area
- The type of building, from a house to a block or an office
- How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
Thermal imaging and drone inspection (where it applies) come with the Premium Survey, which starts from £400, inc. VAT. We will tell you which package suits the questions you have.
Getting in touch
You do not need to know any roofing terms. It is enough to let us know:
- What’s prompted the survey
- The type of building and roof, like pitched or flat
- Where water is showing inside, if it is
- Pictures of the roof from a safe spot, if you have them
To book a survey, call 07833 053749 or email us and tell us the address and what’s prompted the survey. You’ll know the price before anything is booked.
What we’re asked to look at in Ticehurst
Unexplained damp is one of the main reasons people ask for thermal imaging. A leak may start well away from where the stain appears. The camera helps narrow the search.
We are frequently asked to look at:
- Missing or slipped insulation
- Areas losing heat at the eaves and junctions
- Leaks that are hard to trace
- Possible trapped moisture under a flat roof covering
Take a building like Ticehurst and Flimwell Church of England Primary School: big roofs are where photos from the air and thermal images show the most at once.
Questions to ask before booking
- Which parts of the roof they’ll actually see
- What exactly goes into their report
- Which limits apply to the survey
- Whether any drone flown is registered with the CAA
Ticehurst questions
Is Ticehurst in the area you cover?
We do. Every survey there gets the same written report with photographs.
Will you come out to Ticehurst?
Yes. Ticehurst is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our area covers London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.
How long does the survey take?
It usually takes an hour or two for a house, or half a day or so for a commercial building. The report follows by email.
Will thermal imaging find my leak?
It can help narrow down where water may be getting in. Water can travel under a covering before it shows inside, and temperature patterns can help follow it. We combine it with a visual inspection and moisture readings, as the camera alone cannot prove a leak.
What does the report include?
You get our findings in writing, part by part, with photos, finishing with recommendations. The most urgent items are made clear.
Is thermal imaging included in your surveys?
Thermal imaging is included in our Premium Survey, from £400. The Premium Survey also covers a full inspection, drone inspection where it applies, structural analysis and a report on the same day.
What do I do with the report?
The report arrives by email. With Standard there is a follow-up consultation; with Premium, an in-person consultation, so you can talk the findings through.
Can I check my roof myself?
Inside, the loft is a good place to look, with care. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, checking for stains, damp wood or chinks of daylight.
A lot can be seen from ground level. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Never climb onto the roof to look.
Thermal roof surveys in Ticehurst: local notes
Many older homes in Sussex have handmade clay tiles and tile-hung walls. Horsham stone slab roofs survive on some old Sussex buildings, alongside oast houses and timber-framed Wealden hall houses. A drone or thermal camera adds most on the steep, tall and hidden parts of roofs like these. If your survey includes the drone, the flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first.
If you live in an older home near St Mary's Church, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement. Scotney Castle, about 3.2 miles north, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Ticehurst. A drone or thermal survey doesn’t involve any work on the roof, which suits older buildings.
Ticehurst is about 9 miles south-east of Royal Tunbridge Wells, in East Sussex. Anywhere in Ticehurst, we can carry out thermal roof surveys at your property. Ticehurst is one of the towns and villages in East Sussex we cover. Maidstone is in our area too.
