Signs you need a drone roof survey in Albury Heath

After storms, owners want to know what has moved. It’s hard to tell from below what has shifted. Close-up photos make it clear what has been disturbed.

These are some of the problems a survey can pick up:

  • Moss and weeds taking hold up top
  • Coverings that have slipped high up on the roof
  • Debris building up in hidden gutters
  • Ridge and hip pieces working loose

If you own one of the older houses in the streets near Old St Peter and St Paul's Church, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from the ground, and that’s where a view from the air or with a thermal camera helps.

Before you book any roof surveyor

  • What experience they bring
  • Whether the inside of the roof is included
  • Whether VAT is added on top

What a good roof survey covers

Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Albury Heath

They suit tall buildings, steep or large roofs and roofs that are hard to see from ground level. They also suit fragile roofs that nobody should walk on. The roof is photographed without being disturbed. Before the visit, we check the address for any airspace restrictions that apply. We’ll tell you if another approach would work better. If you are worried about gaps where slates or tiles have gone and tired mortar and pots at the top of a stack, a survey will tell you what’s going on, on chimney stacks, tall and steep roofs and large and complex roofs alike.

In a village or hamlet like Albury Heath, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what cannot be reached safely. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first, and the journey is planned beforehand. Older roofs with steep slopes and tall chimneys are where the extra view helps most.

Where we cannot see part of the roof, the report says so. That way, it’s clear what was covered and what wasn’t.

Before and after the survey

Nothing here needs a ladder. A few suggestions:

  • Clear the loft hatch so we can check inside too
  • Shut pets inside while we fly
  • Allow time for permission if you’re in a flight restriction zone
  • Tell next door if the drone will be near their property

If you need work done, roofers can work from the photos. They’ll see exactly where each defect is.

Keep the loft space ventilated. Poor airflow lets condensation build up. Check insulation does not block the airflow.

What happens on the day

On the day, we start by asking what you’ve noticed and what you want to find out. We then inspect everything that can be seen safely. The survey usually takes about one to two hours for most houses, while a commercial roof takes nearer three to four hours. Older rural homes like those around Albury Heath can have a main roof, lower lean-to roofs and outbuildings all joined together. We work round each section in turn, from the safest viewpoints, and anything we cannot see is noted.

  1. First, we check whether a drone is the right tool.
  2. A date is fixed, with a fallback in case the weather turns.
  3. We fly over the roof, keeping the camera on the property we are surveying.
  4. Where there’s safe access, we check the loft as well.
  5. The report sets out what we found, with photos and recommendations.

Getting ready for the survey

  • If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building
  • Have any paperwork from past roof work to hand
  • Note where any stains or damp appear

Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons.

Your questions about drone roof surveys in Albury Heath

Can you fly a drone over a roof in Albury Heath?

The answer turns on the exact location and the conditions on the day. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.

How do I find out if my home in Albury Heath is listed?

The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. Either can affect what roof work is allowed, so it is worth checking before planning any.

Do you survey on Saturdays and Sundays?

Visits run seven days a week in the daytime. Let us know your preferred days as you book.

Do you test for asbestos?

No. We do not carry out asbestos surveys or testing. We flag materials that could contain asbestos, such as cement sheets or soffits on pre-2000 buildings.

Do you work in Albury Heath?

Yes. Our area covers London and South East England, and that includes Albury Heath.

Do you climb onto every roof?

Not always. Safety comes first, and fragile or steep roofs cannot always be walked on. We use safe viewpoints, the loft space and a drone where it applies, and the report records anything we couldn’t see.

What will the report tell me?

You get our findings in writing, part by part, with photos, and ends with what we recommend. Points are put with the most urgent first where relevant.

What happens if roof problems are left?

Leaving a slipped slate or a blocked valley can turn a small fault into a leak. Finding them now means less to put right. For older village homes like those around Albury Heath, the right replacement materials are not always easy to find quickly. That’s one more reason to find defects before they become urgent.

Every price we give includes VAT. Our price is from £400, including VAT. We confirm the price for your roof before booking.

What affects the price in Albury Heath

We confirm the price for your survey before booking. This is what makes a difference:

  • Which survey package you book
  • The number of roofs, including extensions and garages
  • Commercial roofs and larger buildings
  • Any need for thermal images or a drone flight

One thing that affects the price is the package: from £150 for Basic, £250 for Standard and £400 for Premium, with VAT included. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.

What we need to know

You don’t need to know any roofing terms. Just tell us:

  • What’s prompted the survey
  • Any deadline, like an exchange date
  • The kind of building and roof involved
  • Pictures of the roof from a safe spot, if you have them

If you are buying, it is useful to book soon after your offer is accepted, so you have the findings in time to act on them before you exchange. For any other survey, just call 07833 053749 or use the contact form when you are ready.

What we cannot see

Every survey has limits, and it is better to know them up front. Keep these in mind:

  • Photos in conditions too poor to fly
  • A structural engineer’s report
  • A flight where airspace permission is refused
