Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Biggin

Tall, steep, large or fragile roofs can’t always be inspected up close. Our drone roof survey gets a camera close to them without anyone climbing. It shows coverings, ridges, chimneys, valleys and gutters clearly, including slopes that can’t be seen from the street. The photos go into a written report. It is also a good option where walking on the roof could break slates or tiles. If we cannot fly, we tell you why. We’re frequently asked to look into coverings that have slipped high up on the roof and ridge pieces that have lifted, across large and complex roofs, flat roofs on upper floors and chimney stacks.

Villages like Biggin often stand in open country, where wind can be strong. High wind or heavy rain stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.

How fast the report arrives depends on the package: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day.

Landlord and commercial surveys in Biggin

Roof problems in a rented home affect tenants as well as the building. A survey shows what needs attention, so you can plan the work with less disruption.

Letting agents and landlords in Biggin book surveys as well as homeowners. The report gives you a dated record of the roof, with photos, which helps you plan work between tenancies.

When you need someone else

Our findings are based on what we can see safely on the day, so there are some things a survey cannot cover:

  • A flight where airspace permission is refused
  • Anything inside the loft or under the coverings
  • Photos in conditions too poor to fly

If you are not sure which survey you need, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will give you a straight answer. What a survey covers and doesn’t.

Roof types and parts we check

  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Chimney stacks
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Fragile roofs
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Tall and steep roofs

Why get it checked now?

It is hard to plan maintenance for a roof nobody has looked at. Our report shows the condition of each area. That helps you put the work in order. Older cottages and farmhouses around Biggin can have roof timbers that have been there a very long time, and water through a failed covering can rot timber if it’s left.

Every price we give includes VAT. Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. We confirm the price for the job before booking.

Common questions in Biggin

Do you cover smaller places like Biggin?

Yes. Biggin is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We survey roofs across London and South East England. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Is my home in Biggin listed or in a conservation area?

Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.

Is this an asbestos survey?

No. Asbestos surveys and testing are not part of what we do. We flag materials that could contain asbestos, such as cement sheets or soffits on pre-2000 buildings.

Will you go up on the roof?

Only when it is safe. Safe viewpoints, the loft space and a drone where it applies cover most of what’s needed, and the report notes anything we couldn’t see.

Does the report include photographs?

Yes, plenty. Pictures sit next to the findings they show, which makes the report easy to follow.

How long will you be at the property?

Expect it to take roughly 1–2 hours on an ordinary house, with bigger or more complicated roofs taking longer. Pre-flight checks of the site and the weather are part of that.

Are you insured?

We are covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance.

How it works

We photograph the roof as we go, so you can see in the report what we found and where. We take close-ups from wherever is safe. A typical visit takes roughly 1–2 hours at a typical home, rising to roughly 3–4 hours on a commercial building. Older roofs in small places like Biggin can have low, tight loft spaces, so it is useful to know whether there’s a loft hatch and how easy it is to reach. We only go where it’s safe.

  1. First comes the address, plus a note of what worries you about the roof.
  2. Any flight restriction at the address is checked, with permission requested if required.
  3. Before take-off, the wind, the weather and the launch spot are looked at.
  4. We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
  5. You receive a written report with the photos and our recommendations.

Before the survey

  • Let us know about parking near the property
  • Clear the way to the loft hatch
  • Make sure pets are kept safely away

Airspace, weather and Biggin roofs

Biggin is within about 2 miles of the coast, where wind off the sea can be strong. The weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead, as a small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain. Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. Flights in the open category stay under 120 m (400 ft), with the drone kept in sight.

Take a building like Tilbury Pioneer Academy: thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof. If your house is among the older ones in the streets near Church of St Mary, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image.

Biggin is about 2 miles east of Grays, in Thurrock. We cover Biggin and the rest of Thurrock, as part of our work across London and South East England. Biggin is one of the places in Thurrock we cover. There is also a page for Maidstone.

Drone roof surveys in RM16 work the same way as everywhere else we cover. If you are just outside Biggin, we cover West Tilbury (1 mile east), Chadwell St Mary (1 mile north), Tilbury (1 mile south-west), Orsett Heath (1 mile north-west) and Little Thurrock (2 miles north-west). Larger places within reach include Stanford-le-Hope (4 miles north-east), South Ockendon (5 miles north-west), Balstonia (4 miles north-east), Corringham (5 miles north-east), Aveley (6 miles west) and South Stifford (3 miles west).

Around Biggin

Locally, jobs take us to homes and businesses close to Thurrock and Basildon College, The Kings Head pub and The Gateway Academy. Biggin’s nearest station is Tilbury Town station, roughly 1.2 miles south-west of the centre. A little further out are Gravesham Community Hospital (2.2 miles south) and Walton Hall Museum (2.1 miles north-east). For a walk, there is Thurrock Thameside Nature Park and Sawyers Lake.

Roof by roof

Chimney stacks

Chimney tops are hard to see from the ground. A drone gets close to the pots, flaunching, pointing and flashings.

Flat roofs on tall buildings

Leaks often start at outlets, edges and around plant. They’re all captured in close-up, as far as the flight allows.

Before and after the survey

Here are a few things we’d tell any owner:

  • Be ready to move the date if the weather turns
  • Give us the full address so we can check the airspace
  • Clear the loft hatch so we can check inside too
  • Shut pets inside while we fly

The report gives any roofer you ask to quote a clear brief. The photos show the location and extent of every problem.

Keep the loft space ventilated. Poor airflow lets condensation build up. Check insulation does not block the airflow.
