Drone roof survey in Billingbear, Bracknell Forest
Need a drone roof survey in Billingbear? We can help, with findings in writing and pictures to back them up. Book a weekday or weekend visit.
- Hidden gutters full of leaves
- Flat roofs on upper floors that hold water
- Cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below
Why get it checked now?
Close-up photos make conversations with roofers clearer. You can show exactly where the problem is. Outbuildings and barns around Billingbear are easy to forget, but a failed roof there can spoil what’s stored inside. It’s worth including them in a survey before a winter does the damage.
Simple, low roofs take less time to survey than tall or complicated ones, and the package matters as well. The price is always agreed first.

Drone roof survey in Billingbear: what you get
A drone shows the outside of a roof very well, but it can’t see under the coverings or into the loft. Where there is safe access, we look in the roof space too, since that is where leaks and condensation frequently show first. Together, the two give a fuller picture. The report sets out what the drone showed and what we found inside. Where the loft can’t be reached safely, we note it. Typical surveys look at ridge pieces that have lifted and cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below, across large and complex roofs, chimney stacks and flat roofs on upper floors.
Older buildings in small places like Billingbear may be listed or in a conservation area. A look by drone or thermal camera doesn’t touch the roof, so it is a gentle way to see the condition of an old roof, before anyone decides what work it needs. Check with the council before planning any work on a listed building or one in a conservation area.
The report is yours to share with whoever needs it: a seller or estate agent, an insurer, a roofer, a builder or a managing agent, whichever applies.

Before and after the survey
Here are a few things we’d tell any owner, before and after a survey:
- Tell next door if the drone will be near their property
- Clear a spot on the drive or lawn
- Shut pets inside while we fly
- Let us know what you want to see
The Premium Survey includes an in-person consultation to go through what the drone showed. You can ask about anything that is not clear.
Keep the loft space ventilated. Poor airflow lets condensation build up. Keep insulation clear of the eaves.
Questions from Billingbear
Do you cover smaller places like Billingbear?
We do. Villages and rural addresses get the same survey as a town house, with the route planned beforehand.
Is my home in Billingbear listed or in a conservation area?
Check Historic England’s online list first, then ask the council about conservation areas and any Article 4 direction. The answer matters most when a change of material is on the cards.
What will the report tell me?
Written findings with photos, explaining the condition of the roof, any defects and our recommendations, in order of urgency where relevant. Standard adds moisture detection and a structural check; Premium adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where it applies and structural analysis.
How soon will I get the report?
Each package has its own report time. Basic is within 48 hours, Standard is 24–48 hours and Premium is the same day. Mention any deadline as you book.
Can the drone do thermal imaging?
The drone gives you detailed photos of the outside of the roof. Thermal imaging comes with the Premium Survey.
What insurance do you have?
Every survey is covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance.
I live in a flat. Can you survey the roof?
Yes, as long as access is agreed. The roof of a block or converted house is frequently shared, so we need permission from whoever owns or manages the building. We inspect only the parts we are allowed to reach.
When you need someone else
This is not a RICS building survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. Other limits to bear in mind:
- The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
- Flights in a restricted zone without permission
- A structural engineer’s report
If in doubt, call 07833 053749 or email us and we will point you to the right survey before you book. What a survey covers and does not.
What this survey covers
- Flat roofs on upper floors
- Fragile roofs
- Chimney stacks
- Tall and steep roofs
- Large and complex roofs
- Valleys and parapet gutters
How it works
Expect us to ask a few questions before we start, about the roof’s history, any leaks and past repairs. The inspection then takes about one to two hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Rural addresses near Billingbear can be hard to find from a postcode alone, so a few directions, or a note of a nearby landmark, help us arrive on time. The visit itself is the same as anywhere else.
- We start by checking the airspace and any restrictions at your address.
- If permission is needed, we ask for it ahead of the visit.
- We assess the wind, the weather and the surroundings before take-off.
- We fly the drone close to the roof to photograph it in detail, always in sight.
- We email a written report with the photos and our recommendations.
Before we arrive
- Agree roof access with the managing agent if it is shared
- Check the loft hatch can be reached
- Point out any leaks or damp patches

Advice
What we’re asked to look at in Billingbear
From the pavement, most of a tall roof is out of sight. You cannot see the back slope, the valleys or the chimney tops. Problems in those places often go unseen until they leak.
Things that often lead to a survey include:
- Moss and weeds taking hold up top
- Standing water on a flat roof
- Flashings that have come away
- Gaps where slates or tiles have gone
If you look after a shop, office or commercial unit, for example near The Lexicon, big, flat commercial roofs are where photos from the air and thermal images help most.
Choosing a roof surveyor
- Do they have a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID for drone work?
- What they will not be able to tell you
- Their insurance cover
- Their report turnaround times
Airspace, weather and Billingbear roofs
Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. In this part of the South East, older roofs are mostly slate or clay tile and many newer ones concrete tile, and flat-roofed additions turn up almost everywhere. Steep or complicated roofs are frequently hard to see from ground level, which is where aerial photos and thermal images help.
If you look after a building like Binfield Church of England Primary School, a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it. The streets around a church such as Church of All Saints are often among the oldest in a place, and if your house is among the older ones nearby, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where aerial photos and thermal images help.

Checking the roof from ground level
If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.
During heavy rain, look at the gutters from ground level or a window. Water spilling over the edge can be a sign of a blockage or a gutter that has dropped.
