How a drone roof survey works in Forest Park
Prices start from £400, including VAT. The Premium Survey includes a drone inspection where it applies, with a same-day report, structural analysis and an in-person consultation. There’s a 12-month follow-up as well. We will tell you if a drone isn’t the right tool for your roof. Every drone survey comes with a written report and close-up photographs. If you’ve noticed cracked mortar along the ridge and cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below, a survey will tell you what’s going on, on tall and steep roofs, large and complex roofs and fragile roofs alike.
Older cottages and houses around Forest Park may have little insulation, and some have extensions with their own roofs. A thermal image can show where heat is escaping or where moisture may be trapped, and drone photos show the roof surfaces themselves. Findings are checked with moisture readings where needed. Results depend on the weather, so the visit is planned around the forecast.
You receive the findings by email, easy to pass on to a roofer, an agent or an insurer. Basic reports come within 48 hours, Standard within 24–48 hours and Premium on the day.

Useful tips for Forest Park property owners
A few practical points come up again and again on our surveys. They apply to most roofs:
- Let us know what you want to see
- Book early if you’re near an airport
- Tell next door if the drone will be near their property
- Give us the full address so we can check the airspace
There is a follow-up after 12 months with the Premium Survey. It shows whether anything has moved or worn since the first visit, and whether work has done its job.
Check the loft now and then, with care and a good torch. The underside often shows problems before the outside does. Photograph anything new.
Drones, thermal imaging and Forest Park roofs
Before planning roof work on an older home, find out whether it’s listed or in a conservation area. Listed building consent covers changes to a listed building’s special interest, and an Article 4 direction can bring extra controls in a conservation area. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions.
Shop and office owners around The Lexicon may find that large commercial roofs are often easiest to see by drone or thermal camera. If your home is one of the older ones in the streets near St Paul, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement. Anyone responsible for a site like Harmans Water Primary School will know that a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit.

For landlords and managing agents
Buyers’ agents can book surveys on behalf of their clients. The report is emailed, so it can go straight to your client.
We also survey roofs for businesses and commercial landlords, including offices, shops and units. Bigger roofs take more time, so they’re priced to suit.
How we price drone roof surveys
All our prices include VAT. What changes the price is:
- The roof’s overall size
- Whether it’s a home or a commercial building
- Any need for thermal images or a drone flight
- Chimneys, valleys, parapets and other details
Larger roofs, taller buildings and commercial roofs take longer, so they’re priced to match. The price is confirmed before booking.
What we need to know
A little information up front helps. It is useful to include:
- What’s prompted the survey
- Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
- Any deadline, such as an exchange date
- Photos of the roof, taken safely from the ground or a window
Our phone lines are open seven days a week, including Saturdays and Sundays. For a price or to book, call 07833 053749 or email us.
FAQs for Forest Park
Is my home in Forest Park listed or in a conservation area?
Check Historic England’s online list first, then ask the council about conservation areas and any Article 4 direction. It matters most if you’re planning to re-roof in a different material.
Will you come out to Forest Park?
Yes, we do. We survey roofs across London and the South East, from towns to the smallest villages. Longer journeys are simply planned ahead of time.
What if my home is near an airport?
Only with the right permission. Airports such as Gatwick, Luton and Southampton have flight restriction zones, and a flight inside one needs the airport’s or air traffic control’s say-so. If permission is not given, the roof is inspected from other safe viewpoints.
Do you carry professional indemnity insurance?
Our surveys are covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance. If you need details for a managing agent or a building owner, just ask.
Can you survey a shared roof?
Yes, as long as access is agreed. Roofs over flats are frequently shared, so the freeholder or managing agent needs to agree access. We inspect only the parts we’re allowed to reach.
What if it is windy or raining on the day?
We don’t fly in strong wind or heavy rain. The weather on the day decides whether the drone goes up. If it is unsuitable, we will agree another date.
How long does the visit take?
Allow about 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. We’ll confirm what to expect when we arrange the visit.
What happens on the day
We check the roof from outside and, where it is relevant and there is safe access, from inside the loft space too. Inside, we look for staining, damp, gaps and signs of movement, as far as the space allows. All in, the survey typically takes an hour or two for a house, and about three to four hours for a commercial roof. A visit to a smaller place like Forest Park is no different on the day: we look from the ground, from windows, from the loft and from the roof where it is safe. It’s useful to show us anything you’ve already noticed.
- We start by making sure a drone flight makes sense for the roof.
- We agree a date, including weekends, subject to the weather.
- Aerial photos are taken of your roof only, not the neighbours’.
- We also look inside the roof space where it is safe.
- The report sets out what we found, with photos and recommendations.
Preparing for the visit
- Agree roof access with the managing agent if it is shared
- Make a note of anything you’d like us to look at
- Note where any stains or damp appear

Related advice
Different roofs, different checks
Flat roofs on tall buildings
Outlets, edges and roof plant are common problem areas. They’re all captured in close-up, as far as the flight allows.
Ridges and hips
Loose ridge pieces can be lifted in a storm. Spotting them early stops them falling.
Can I check my roof myself?
The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery. That part is for a survey.
Keep a simple record: dates of leaks, photos from ground level and any work done on the roof. Share it with us when booking.
