Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Jennett's Park

From the air, the outer surfaces are clear, but it can’t see under the coverings or into the loft. We check the loft from inside where it is safe, because the underside tells its own story. Inside and out together tell you far more. Your report shows the drone photos alongside what we saw in the loft. Where the loft cannot be reached safely, we note it. We survey valleys and parapet gutters, chimney stacks and tall and steep roofs, and common reasons people get in touch are worn lead at chimneys and walls and coverings that have slipped high up on the roof.

Places like Jennett's Park can be near small airfields or other airspace restrictions, so every drone flight starts with a check of the Drone Safety Map. Open ground can mean stronger wind, which also affects whether a small drone can fly, while thermal imaging also works best with little wind. Neighbours’ privacy is part of planning each flight, along with the airspace and the weather.

The report is written in plain words, so you do not need to be a roofer to follow it. Photos show what each point refers to, with the urgent items made clear.

Can I check my roof myself?

After heavy rain, check ceilings and the tops of walls for new stains. Take a photo and write down when you saw it, as it helps a surveyor trace the cause.

You can learn a lot from ground level. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Never climb onto the roof to look.

Common questions in Jennett's Park

How do I find out if my home in Jennett's Park is listed?

Your council is the best source, with Historic England’s list for listed buildings. Both listing and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.

Is drone flying allowed in Jennett's Park?

It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.

What happens next?

The report arrives by email, with photos and clear recommendations. With Standard there is a follow-up consultation; with Premium, an in-person consultation, so you can talk the findings through.

Will you go up on the roof?

Only where it’s safe to do so. We inspect whatever is safely visible: from ground level, from windows, from inside the loft space, from the roof where it’s safe and by drone where applicable. Anything we cannot see is noted in the report.

Is it the same as a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey?

No. We look at the roof, not the whole building, and it is not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey. Many buyers have both.

How much is a survey?

Our price is from £400, including VAT. Our three packages are Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, including VAT.

Are you structural engineers?

No. We’re roof surveyors, not structural engineers. We’ll recommend an engineer if we see signs that call for one.

Prices for drone roof surveys in Jennett's Park

Survey packages start from £150, inc. VAT. What you pay for your roof depends on:

  • Commercial roofs and larger buildings
  • Chimneys, valleys, parapets and other details
  • Which survey package you book
  • The height of the building and how the roof can be seen safely

Price depends partly on the package: from £150 for Basic, £250 for Standard and £400 for Premium, with VAT included. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.

What to tell us when you contact us

Before you get in touch, it helps to have:

  • What kind of property and roof it is
  • What made you get in touch
  • Any photos you have, taken from ground level or a window
  • Any deadline, like an exchange date

A quick phone call is normally the easiest start: call 07833 053749 or use the contact form, and we will ask about the building and what you need. The price is agreed before a date is set.

What we’re asked to look at in Jennett's Park

Chimney tops take the worst of the weather. From ground level, you rarely see cracked flaunching or loose pots. A drone gets close enough to see them in detail.

Things that often lead to a survey include:

  • Coverings that have slipped high up on the roof
  • Ridge pieces that have lifted
  • Ponding and splits on a high flat roof
  • Eroded pointing on a chimney stack

Take an older house close to St Paul: tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.

Questions to ask before you book

  • What the survey won’t cover
  • What insurance they carry
  • Whether the roof space is looked at, where there is one
  • Do they have a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID for drone work?

What’s in a roof survey

What a drone roof survey looks like in Jennett's Park

Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). Flights in the open category stay under 120 m (400 ft), with the drone kept in sight.

For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Harmans Water Primary School, thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof. For businesses in and around places like The Lexicon, thermal images can show trapped moisture across a wide commercial roof.

What we can’t see

Before you book, it’s worth knowing what a survey will not do:

  • Anything inside the loft or under the coverings
  • A structural engineer’s report
  • Neighbouring roofs the owner hasn’t asked us to survey

If in doubt, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we’ll suggest the right survey. What our survey covers.

What this survey covers

  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Fragile roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Chimney stacks
  • Large and complex roofs

Tips that help

A survey works best with a little help from you, before and after. Some tips:

  • Book early if you’re near an airport
  • Keep pets indoors during the flight
  • Let neighbours know about the flight if your roof is shared
  • Let us know what you want to see

The report gives any roofer you ask to quote a clear brief. The photos show the location and extent of every problem, so their quotes cover the same ground.

Check the loft now and then, with care and a good torch. The underside frequently shows problems before the outside does. Take photos of any changes.

How the survey works

We do not take risks to get a closer look. Everything that can safely be seen is inspected, and if part of the roof cannot be seen, the report says so. The survey usually takes an hour or two for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Being in a smaller place like Jennett's Park does not change how the visit works: we look from ground level, from windows, from the loft and from the roof where it is safe. Point out any stains, cracks or loose pieces you’ve spotted.

  1. We start by checking the airspace and any restrictions at your address.
  2. Where a flight restriction zone or restricted area applies, we seek permission first.
  3. On the day, we check the weather and the site before flying.
  4. The sub-250g drone takes close-up photographs of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
  5. You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.
