Drone roof survey in Martins Heron

We carry out drone roof surveys in Martins Heron and across London and the South East, where the airspace and the weather allow. We fly on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. We check the airspace for your address before booking a flight. You get a written report with close-up photographs and recommendations. To check whether your roof suits a drone survey, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form. If you’re worried about gaps where slates or tiles have gone and slates or tiles shifted by high winds, we can find out what’s behind it, on tall and steep roofs, valleys and parapet gutters and chimney stacks alike.

Places like Martins Heron can be near small airfields or other airspace restrictions, so every drone flight starts with a check of the Drone Safety Map. Open ground can mean stronger wind, which also affects whether a small drone can fly. Each flight is planned with neighbours’ privacy in mind, as well as the airspace and the wind.

It is not only a list of defects. For each finding, it explains what it is, why it matters and what we’d recommend.

Drone roof surveys in Martins Heron: local notes

Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). Flights in the open category stay under 120 m (400 ft), with the drone kept in sight.

Anyone responsible for a site like Harmans Water Primary School will know that a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit. For an older house near a landmark such as St Paul, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof frequently shows up clearly on a thermal image.

Can I check my roof myself?

After heavy rain, check ceilings and the tops of walls for new stains. Take a photo and write down when you saw it, as it helps a surveyor trace the cause.

The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery. That part is for a survey, using safe viewpoints and a drone where applicable.

Landlord and commercial surveys in Martins Heron

With a portfolio of properties, you can book surveys for several addresses. To discuss a number of properties, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the addresses.

Surveys can also be booked by buyers’ agents acting for a client. Reports are emailed, so they’re easy to pass on.

What we are asked to look at in Martins Heron

Chimney tops take the worst of the weather. Cracked flaunching, loose pots and eroded pointing are frequently invisible from below. Close-up drone photos show their condition.

Signs worth acting on include:

  • Debris building up in hidden gutters
  • Chimney tops in poor condition
  • Moss building up on slopes and in gutters
  • Ridge and hip pieces working loose

Shop and office owners around The Lexicon may find that thermal images can show trapped moisture across a wide commercial roof.

Choosing a roof surveyor

  • What follow-up you get after the report
  • What they will not be able to tell you
  • How they plan to inspect the roof safely
  • Are they insured for the work?

What a roof survey includes

The survey, step by step

The visit has one job: to see as much of the roof as can safely be seen and record it clearly. Notes and photographs go into the written report. It usually takes an hour or two at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. A visit to Martins Heron is planned like any other: the time, the access and where to park are agreed beforehand. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays. If there are outbuildings or garages you want looked at, mention them.

  1. We start with the address and what you’d like checked.
  2. Any flight restriction at the address is checked, with permission requested if required.
  3. On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
  4. Close-up photos are taken of each slope, chimney, valley and gutter, with the drone always in view.
  5. We email the report with close-up photos and recommendations.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep pets out of the way during the survey
  • Agree roof access with the managing agent if it is shared
  • Gather any invoices or paperwork from past roof work

Arrange a survey

Our price is from £400, including VAT. What you pay depends on the roof’s size, access and the package, and you can phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form to find out.

Advice

How we price drone roof surveys

To price your survey, we check:

  • The type of building, from a house to a block or an office
  • Height and safe access
  • If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone
  • The roof’s overall size

The Premium Survey includes thermal imaging and drone inspection where it applies, from £400 with VAT included. We can help you choose the package that fits what you need to know.

Helping us price your survey

These details help when you get in touch:

  • Pictures of the roof from a safe spot, if you have them
  • Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
  • Whether there’s a loft hatch, a shared roof or tricky access
  • The property’s address and postcode

Buyers should book once an offer has been accepted, so you have the findings in time to act on them before you exchange. For any other survey, just phone 07833 053749 or email us when you are ready.

What this survey can’t tell you

It helps to know what a survey will not do before booking:

  • The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
  • Flights in a restricted zone without permission
  • Photos in conditions too poor to fly

If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll recommend the right survey. What a survey covers and does not.

Common questions in Martins Heron

Is Martins Heron within the area you cover?

Yes, Martins Heron is on our map. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one.

Is my home in Martins Heron listed or in a conservation area?

The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. Either can affect what roof work is allowed, so it’s worth checking before planning any.

Are you insured?

Our cover is professional indemnity plus public liability, and we can provide details if a managing agent needs them.

What does the report include?

Written findings with photos, explaining the condition of the roof, any defects and our recommendations. Standard adds moisture detection and a structural check; Premium adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable and structural analysis.

Do you climb onto every roof?

Not always. Some roofs are too steep or fragile to walk on safely. We use safe viewpoints, the roof space and a drone where it applies.

Is this an asbestos survey?

No. We do not carry out asbestos surveys or testing. If we see materials that could contain asbestos, such as cement roof sheets or soffits on buildings from before 2000, we flag them and suggest a specialist asbestos surveyor checks them before any work.

Are you registered with the CAA?

Yes. We hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. Our drone weighs under 250g and follow the drone code.
