Drone roof surveys in Bluetown

What we look for on each type of roof

Steep slate and tile slopes

Widespread slipping on slate typically means nail fatigue. We can see the extent of it from above.

Chimney stacks

The drone shows the outside of the stack, not a flue, gas or sweep inspection. We will say if a specialist is needed.

Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Bluetown

A drone shows the outside of a roof very well, but it can’t see inside. We check the loft from inside where it is safe, since that is where leaks and condensation often show first. Inside and out together tell you far more. The report sets out what the drone showed and what we found inside. If there is no safe loft access, the report says so. If you’re worried about lifted or split lead flashings and ridge and hip pieces working loose, a survey will tell you what’s going on.

In a village or hamlet like Bluetown, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what cannot be reached safely. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first, and the journey is planned in advance. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.

The report is written in plain words, so it makes sense without any roofing background. Photographs show what each point refers to, with the urgent items made clear.

How we price drone roof surveys

We confirm the price for your survey before booking. These are the things that affect it:

  • How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
  • Extra roofs, like extensions, dormers or garages
  • Whether it’s a home or a commercial building
  • The shape of the roof and its details

Prices start from £400, including VAT. Basic starts from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, VAT included, and we’ll tell you which fits.

Getting in touch

We’ll usually ask about:

  • The property’s address and postcode
  • The reason for the survey, such as buying, a leak or storm damage
  • When you need the report by
  • Any marks or damp showing indoors

Prices start from £400, including VAT. What you pay depends on the roof’s size, access and the package, and you can ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email to find out.

Drones, thermal imaging and Bluetown roofs

Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. Handmade clay tiles, including Kent peg tiles hung on pegs through two holes, are typical of older Kent buildings. The county’s older buildings also include oast houses and timber-framed Wealden hall houses. Older coverings on steep or tall roofs are hard to judge from below, so close-up aerial photos and thermal images help.

Historic houses like Belmont House and Gardens, about 4.4 miles east, show how far back building around Bluetown goes. Older roofs nearby can be steep and hard to see from the ground, and a survey from above or with a thermal imager does not touch the roof itself. For site and facilities teams at buildings like Milstead and Frinsted Church of England Primary School, thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof.

Bluetown is about 4 miles south of Sittingbourne, in Kent. Surveys in Bluetown work the same way as everywhere we cover: a close look at whatever is safely visible, photos and a clear written report. Bluetown is one of the places in Kent where we work. Our Maidstone page covers surveys nearby.

We cover every part of ME9 for drone roof surveys. Other places close to Bluetown include Hollybushes (1 mile west), Milstead (1 mile north-west), Doddington (1 mile south-east), Wichling (1 mile south) and Frinsted (2 miles west). Larger places within reach include Maidstone (10 miles west), Ashford (12 miles south-east), Canterbury (14 miles east), Sittingbourne (4 miles north), Whitstable (13 miles east) and Faversham (6 miles east).

Do you need a drone roof survey in Bluetown?

From the pavement, most of a tall roof is out of sight. You can’t see the back slope, the valleys or the chimney tops. Problems in those places frequently go unseen until they leak.

Problems we come across often include:

  • Flashings that have come away
  • Gaps where slates or tiles have gone
  • Vegetation in valleys and gutters
  • Flat roofs on upper floors that hold water

If you live in an older home near Church of St Catherine, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.

What to check before booking

  • Is VAT included in the price?
  • How soon the report will arrive
  • Are they insured for the work?
  • What’s outside the scope of the survey

What a roof survey includes

What we can’t see

No survey can tell you everything, and it is better to know them up front. Keep these in mind:

  • A flight where airspace permission is refused
  • Roofs and gardens beyond the one we’re surveying
  • Structural calculations (that’s a structural engineer’s job)

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we will tell you before booking. The full list of what we check.

What we look at

  • Chimney stacks
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Fragile roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Large and complex roofs

What happens on the day

Expect us to ask a few questions before we start, about the roof’s history, any leaks and past repairs. Then the inspection itself takes about 1–2 hours at a typical home, while a commercial roof takes nearer three to four hours. Rural addresses near Bluetown can be hard to find from a postcode alone, so a few directions are welcome. After that, the survey runs as it would anywhere.

  1. We start with the address and what you’d like checked.
  2. Airspace restrictions are checked and permission sought where needed.
  3. We assess the conditions and the take-off spot first.
  4. The drone photographs the roof closely, kept in sight throughout.
  5. The findings, photos and recommendations reach you by email.

Before we arrive

  • If you are buying, let the agent know when we’re coming
  • Jot down any questions you want answered
  • Tell us where we can park nearby

Advice

FAQs for Bluetown

Is my home in Bluetown listed or in a conservation area?

Your council is the best source, with Historic England’s list for listed buildings. A change of roofing material may need consent in either case, and councils can also use Article 4 directions.

Do you cover smaller places like Bluetown?

Yes, Bluetown is on our map. Villages and rural addresses get the same survey as a town house.

How soon will I get the report?

Each package has its own report time. Basic is within 48 hours, Standard is 24–48 hours and Premium is the same day. Mention any deadline when you book.

Can you tell me if my roof has asbestos?

No. Asbestos surveys and testing are not part of what we do. If we see materials that could contain asbestos, such as cement roof sheets or soffits on buildings from before 2000, we flag them, and recommend a specialist asbestos surveyor checks them before they’re disturbed.

What happens next?

You’ll get the report by email, with photographs and clear recommendations. With Standard there’s a follow-up consultation; with Premium, an in-person consultation, so you can talk the findings through.

Is it a structural engineer’s report?

No. We are experienced roof surveyors, and visible signs like sagging are noted, but we don’t provide calculations or an engineer’s opinion. If one is needed, the report says so.

Is your drone operator registered?

Yes. We’re a CAA-registered drone operator, with a Flyer ID and an Operator ID. Our drone weighs under 250g and keep it in sight at all times.
