Drone roof survey in Wichling

Drone roof surveys are available in Wichling and throughout London and South East England, subject to airspace checks and the weather. Flights take place on weekdays and at weekends. Every address is checked for airspace restrictions first. You get a written report with close-up photographs and recommendations. To ask whether a drone survey suits your roof, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form with the address. We survey fragile roofs, flat roofs on upper floors and tall and steep roofs, and the problems we’re asked to look at most are cracked mortar along the ridge and debris building up in hidden gutters.

Older buildings in small places like Wichling may be listed or in a conservation area. Neither a drone survey nor a thermal survey involves any work on the roof, so it is a gentle way to see the condition of an old roof, before anyone decides what work it needs. Changes that affect a listed building’s special interest need listed building consent, so check with the council first.

Findings are set out part by part, from the main slopes down to the gutters and outlets. It records what’s sound as well as what is not.

FAQs for Wichling

Can you fly a drone over a roof in Wichling?

It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.

Is my home in Wichling listed or in a conservation area?

Start with Historic England’s list for listing and your council for conservation areas. It’s worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.

What if it rains on the day?

Some surveys depend on the weather more than others. Drone flights need calm, dry weather, and thermal imaging works best with a dry roof, little wind and a sunny day beforehand. If the conditions aren’t right, we will talk to you about another date.

How fast do I get the report?

The Premium Survey report comes the same day, the Standard within 24–48 hours and the Basic within 48 hours. All of them come by email, ready to forward.

Can you tell me if my roof has asbestos?

No. We can flag materials that might contain asbestos, but only a specialist asbestos surveyor can confirm it. It may be present in buildings built or refurbished before 2000.

What does a roof survey cost?

Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. We confirm the price for your survey before you book. For a price, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email.

What happens after the survey?

You will get the report by email, with photographs and clear recommendations. With Standard there is a follow-up consultation; with Premium, an in-person consultation, so you can talk the findings through.

The drone we use is under 250g, flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID. Open category rules keep flights below 120 m (400 ft) and the drone within sight at all times. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first.

Do you need a drone roof survey in Wichling?

Big commercial and industrial roofs cover a lot of ground. A drone can photograph a large roof methodically. You see the whole roof, not just the parts near an access point.

A survey makes sense if you’ve noticed:

  • Chimney tops in poor condition
  • Ponding and splits on a high flat roof
  • Debris building up in hidden gutters
  • Vegetation in valleys and gutters

The streets around a church such as Church of St Margaret are often among the oldest in a place, and if yours is one of the older homes nearby, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from the ground, and that is where a view from the air or with a thermal camera helps.

What to check before booking

  • If they fly a drone, whether they hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID
  • Whether the inside of the roof is included
  • What happens after the report arrives
  • What experience they bring

What a good roof survey covers

For landlords and managing agents

Landlords, agents and building managers in Wichling and across Kent can book any of our surveys. To discuss a property or a block, ring 07833 053749 or email us.

Letting agents can arrange access with tenants, at a time agreed in advance. Surveys run on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays, which can make access easier.

What this survey can’t tell you

It’s a careful look at the roof, not the whole story. The main limits are:

  • Photos in conditions too poor to fly
  • Structural calculations (that’s a structural engineer’s job)
  • Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission

If in doubt, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we’ll point you to the right survey. What our survey covers.

What this survey covers

  • Chimney stacks
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Fragile roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters

Tips from our surveys

Some practical points come up on survey after survey. They’re worth knowing whatever the roof:

  • Book early if you are near an airport
  • Clear the loft hatch so we can check inside too
  • Let neighbours know about the flight if your roof is shared
  • Mention anything you’ve noticed on the roof

We email the report to you, with close-up photographs from the flight. Each finding is explained in plain words, and recommendations are ranked by urgency where that helps.

Don’t block the vents at the eaves. Condensation in the loft can damage timbers and insulation, and it is something only an inside check will show. Make sure insulation doesn’t block the airflow.

What we do, step by step

You don’t need to do much on the day. Show us any stains, drips or problem areas you know about, and we’ll get on with the inspection. A typical survey takes roughly 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. For a village or hamlet like Wichling, the journey is planned ahead of time: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. The roof is looked at from ground level, from windows, from the loft where there’s safe access and from the roof where it is safe.

  1. We start by making sure a drone flight makes sense for the roof.
  2. We agree a date, including weekends, subject to the weather.
  3. Aerial photos are taken of your roof only, not the neighbours’.
  4. If the loft can be reached safely, it’s checked too.
  5. Everything is written up, with the aerial photos and our advice.

Preparing for the visit

  • If you are buying, let the agent know when we are coming
  • Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed
  • Tell us where we can park nearby
