Independent drone roof surveys in Hollybushes

Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Hollybushes

They suit tall buildings, steep or large roofs and roofs that are hard to see from ground level. They also suit fragile roofs that nobody should walk on. You get close-up views without anyone setting foot on the roof. We check the airspace for your address ahead of the visit. We’ll tell you if another approach would work better. We survey large and complex roofs, fragile roofs and valleys and parapet gutters, and the problems we are asked to look at most are storm damage on steep or tall roofs and gaps where slates or tiles have gone.

Villages like Hollybushes often stand in open country, where wind can be strong. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best with little wind. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.

Findings are set out part by part, from the coverings down to the gutters, each with a short note and a photo. You’ll see the good as well as the bad.

How it works

When we arrive, we begin with a quick chat about the roof and anything that is worrying you. We then inspect everything that can safely be seen, using the ground, windows, the loft and a drone where applicable. The survey normally takes about 1–2 hours at a typical home, and longer for a large or complex roof. Older rural homes like those around Hollybushes can have a main roof, lower lean-to roofs and outbuildings all joined together. We work round each section in turn, from the safest viewpoints, and anything we cannot see is noted.

  1. First comes the address, plus a note of what worries you about the roof.
  2. We check the airspace and seek any permission needed.
  3. On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
  4. We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
  5. You receive a written report with the photos and our recommendations.

Advice

What you can safely check yourself

After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.

Keep a simple record: dates of leaks, photos from the ground and any work done on the roof. Share it with us when you book, as it helps us focus the survey.

What a survey costs

A few things affect what a survey costs:

  • How complicated the roof is, with its valleys, chimneys and parapets
  • The use of thermal imaging or a drone
  • Whether you choose the Basic, Standard or Premium Survey
  • Extensions, dormers and garages with roofs of their own

One thing that affects the price is the package: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 or Premium from £400, all inc. VAT. Size, height and access can affect the price too.

Helping us price your survey

To price your survey accurately, we will ask about:

  • Any stains, drips or damp patches you’ve seen indoors
  • Access details, like a loft hatch or a shared roof
  • What made you get in touch
  • Any photos you have, taken from the ground or a window

We survey roofs seven days a week. To arrange a day that suits you, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email.

For landlords and managing agents

Letting agents frequently book on a landlord’s behalf, and the report can go to both. We agree a time with the tenant beforehand.

Buyers’ agents can book surveys on behalf of their clients. Reports are emailed, so they’re easy to pass on, photographs included.

Before and after the survey

Nothing here needs a ladder. A few suggestions:

  • Tell next door if the drone will be near their property
  • Let us know what you want to see
  • Move stored items away from the hatch
  • Allow time for permission if you are in a flight restriction zone

File the report and photos with your home documents. They’re a useful baseline for future surveys, and they help if you sell.

Every so frequently, look in the roof space with a torch, keeping to boarded areas. A drone sees the outside, but the loft shows leaks and condensation from below. Take photos of any changes.

Drone roof surveys around Hollybushes

We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). Flights in the open category stay under 120 m (400 ft), with the drone kept in sight. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons.

If you live in an older home near Church of St Mary and the Holy Cross, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that’s where a view from the air or with a thermal camera helps. Anyone responsible for a site like Milstead and Frinsted Church of England Primary School will know that big roofs are where photos from the air and thermal images show the most at once. Belmont House and Gardens lies about 4.8 miles east, so building around Hollybushes goes back a long way. Older roofs nearby can be steep and hard to see from the ground, and a survey by drone or thermal camera doesn’t touch the roof itself.

Questions from Hollybushes

Do you cover smaller places like Hollybushes?

Yes, we do. Our area covers London and South East England, from towns to the smallest villages. The journey is planned ahead, so it is useful to know about access.

How do I find out if my home in Hollybushes is listed?

Start with Historic England’s list for listing and your council for conservation areas. Either can affect what roof work is allowed, so it is worth checking before planning any.

Do you survey on Saturdays and Sundays?

We carry out surveys on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. To arrange a date, call 07833 053749 or send us an email.

Can you survey a shared roof?

Yes, if the building owner or managing agent agrees access. We look at the parts we are given access to, and the report makes that clear.

Is this an asbestos survey?

No. Asbestos surveys and testing aren’t part of what we do. We flag materials that could contain asbestos, like cement sheets or soffits on pre-2000 buildings, and recommend a specialist asbestos surveyor checks them before they’re disturbed.

What’s in the survey report?

It works through the roof part by part, in writing and with photos, and ends with what we recommend. Points are put with the most urgent first where relevant.

How long have you been surveying roofs?

Over 20 years and more than 5,000 surveys, across London and South East England.

Why act early in Hollybushes

On a tall building, problems are frequently found only when water comes in. By that stage the damage has spread inside. Looking from above picks up the early signs. In a place like Hollybushes, a barn or garage roof left to fail puts whatever is inside at risk. A quick look before winter can save a lot.

Larger roofs, taller buildings and commercial roofs take longer, so they’re priced to match. You’ll know the figure before booking.
