Hollybushes Thermal Roof Survey
A careful look at the roof at your property in Hollybushes, with photos and a written report.
- Missing or slipped insulation
- Damp patches with no obvious cause
- Moisture around outlets and upstands
What we are asked to look at in Hollybushes
Some buyers want extra detail before they commit to a purchase. The Premium Survey brings thermal imaging and a drone inspection where it applies, with a report the same day, which helps when timescales are tight.
Typical things we’re asked to look at include:
- Damp patches with no obvious cause
- Leaks far from where the stain appears
- Patches of heat loss across the roof
- Gaps in loft insulation
If you live in an older home near Church of St Mary and the Holy Cross, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.
Before you book any roof surveyor
- What the report includes, and whether it has photographs
- Their insurance cover
- Their track record with similar roofs
- Their drone registration, if they fly one
Thermal roof surveys for homes and businesses in Hollybushes
Our Premium Survey, from £400, brings together a full roof inspection and thermal imaging. It also includes a drone inspection where applicable, a structural analysis and a same-day report. An in-person consultation and a 12-month follow-up are included too. You can ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the address and a note of what you’ve noticed. For big commercial roofs, we quote on size and access. We survey insulated roof spaces, loft conversions and flat roofs, and common reasons people get in touch are water that travels before it shows and cold areas below the roof.
Somewhere as small as Hollybushes, older roofs are often steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what cannot be reached safely. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.
Nothing in the report is left vague: if work is needed, the report says so clearly.

Tips from our surveys
Getting the most from a thermal roof survey starts before we arrive and carries on afterwards. Some tips:
- Note where damp appears and after what weather
- Remember the conditions on the day affect the results
- Don’t switch the heating off before the visit
- Keep outlets and gutters clear to stop water sitting
Buyers can use the findings when talking to the seller or agent. What you do with it is up to you, whether that is asking for work or discussing the price.
Check that loft insulation is laid evenly and hasn’t been pushed aside. Insulation is often moved when people work in the roof space.

Flying and imaging in Hollybushes
Handmade clay tiles, including Kent peg tiles hung on pegs through two holes, are typical of older Kent buildings. You’ll also find oast houses and timber-framed Wealden hall houses among the county’s older buildings. Older coverings on steep or tall roofs are hard to judge from below, so close-up aerial photos and thermal images help. The wider area around Hollybushes has a long history of building, with Belmont House and Gardens about 4.8 miles east. Older homes in the wider area frequently have features worth a closer look, like lead valleys, tall stacks and roofs that have been patched over the years, and a listed home or one in a conservation area may need consent for changes of material.
If you look after a building like Milstead and Frinsted Church of England Primary School, big roofs are where aerial photos and thermal images show the most at once.

What a thermal roof survey does not cover
To be straight with you, a roof survey has limits:
- A formal energy assessment
- Hidden layers that need to be opened up to check
- A structural engineer’s assessment
If you are not sure which survey you need, phone 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking. What a survey covers and does not.

DIY checks: what’s safe
After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.
The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way, and a fall can be serious. That’s where a survey comes in.
Your questions about thermal roof surveys in Hollybushes
Will you come out to Hollybushes?
Yes, Hollybushes is covered. Our area covers London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it is useful to know about access.
How do I find out if my home in Hollybushes is listed?
You can check whether a building is listed on Historic England’s list, and your council can tell you if it’s in a conservation area. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.
Do you carry professional indemnity insurance?
We are covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance.
Will you walk on the roof?
Only if it is safe. We look at everything that can be seen safely: from the ground, from windows, from inside the loft space, from the roof where it’s safe and by drone where it applies. The report says if anything couldn’t be seen.
How does a thermal imaging roof survey work?
It records surface temperature across the roof. Differences can suggest wet areas, missing insulation or heat loss, and we check them with moisture readings.
What does the report include?
You get our findings in writing, part by part, with photos. Points are put in order of urgency where relevant.
What’s the best way to book?
Simply ring 07833 053749 or email us with the address. We’ll ask a few questions, confirm the price and agree a date.
The survey, step by step
When we arrive, we begin with a quick chat about the roof and anything that is worrying you. We then inspect everything that can safely be seen. The survey normally takes an hour or two at a house, including the thermal images, and around 3–4 hours for a commercial roof. Rural addresses near Hollybushes can be hard to find from a postcode alone, so a few directions, or a note of a nearby landmark, help us arrive on time. The visit itself is the same as anywhere else.
- First we discuss the roof, any damp and the forecast for the visit.
- We look over the roof from wherever it is safe.
- Thermal images are taken across the roof and, where there’s safe access, in the loft.
- We take moisture readings where the images suggest a problem.
- Each image is set beside a normal photo and explained in the report.
Preparing for the visit
- For flats, make sure roof access has been agreed
- Tell us about parking before the day
- Point out any leaks or damp patches

Why get it checked now?
A damp patch that keeps coming back normally has a cause that hasn’t been found. Combining the camera with moisture readings can help find it, rather than more guesswork. Outbuildings and barns around Hollybushes are easy to forget, but a failed roof there can spoil what’s stored inside. A quick look before winter can save a lot.
A Basic Survey starts from £150, inc. VAT. The Standard Survey starts from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, both including VAT. You’ll know the exact price before booking.
