Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Brogdale
We fly a sub-250g drone, and we’re a CAA-registered drone operator, with a Flyer ID and an Operator ID. It stays within sight for the whole flight, and well below the 120-metre height limit. Each flight is planned with the site and its surroundings in mind. Airspace and weather are checked before every flight. Safety comes first on every visit. If you’ve noticed gaps where slates or tiles have gone and plant growth and moss on the roof, we can find out what’s behind it, on fragile roofs, flat roofs on upper floors and large and complex roofs alike.
Villages like Brogdale frequently stand in open country, where wind can be strong. High wind or heavy rain stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.
Most points in the report come with a picture, because a photo of a cracked flashing says more than a paragraph. If something couldn’t be seen safely, the report is clear about it.

The survey, step by step
We photograph the roof as we go, so you can see in the report what we found and where. Close-ups come from the safest viewpoint available, including by drone where it’s applicable and the weather allows. A typical visit takes between one and two hours for a house, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. Cottages and farmhouses around Brogdale often have roofs at several levels, with lean-tos and outbuildings attached. We work round each section in turn, from the safest viewpoints.
- First, we check whether a drone is the right tool.
- A date is fixed, with a fallback in case the weather turns.
- We fly over the roof, keeping the camera on the property we’re surveying.
- If the loft can be reached safely, it’s checked too.
- The report sets out what we found, with photos and recommendations.
Before we arrive
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street
- Leave a clear route to the loft
- Leave side gates unlocked

Advice
What a drone roof survey looks like in Brogdale
Brogdale lies within about 4 miles of the sea, and wind near the sea can be strong. The weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead, as a small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain. The drone we use is under 250g, flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID. In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight.
Belmont House and Gardens, about 2.2 miles south-west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Brogdale. Older roofs nearby can be steep and hard to see from ground level, and a survey by drone or thermal camera doesn’t touch the roof itself. If you live in an older home near Church of St Peter and St Paul, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from the ground, and that’s where a view from the air or with a thermal camera helps. If you look after a building such as Ospringe Church of England Primary School, thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof.
Brogdale is about 1 mile south-west of Preston, in Kent. Brogdale is part of the area we cover across London and South East England. Our area takes in places right across Kent, large and small. For surveys nearby, see our Canterbury page.

What a drone roof survey does not cover
Our survey is not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. Other limits to bear in mind:
- Flights in strong wind or heavy rain
- Neighbouring roofs the owner hasn’t asked us to survey
- A flight where airspace permission is refused
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will tell you. The full list of what we check.

Tips from our surveys
You do not need to be a roofer to help. What helps most:
- Allow time for permission if you are in a flight restriction zone
- Tell us about any leaks or concerns
- Allow for a change of day in poor weather
- Give us the full address so we can check the airspace
File the report and photos with your home documents. They give you something to compare against later, and they help if you sell.
Don’t block the vents at the eaves. Poor airflow lets condensation build up, and it’s something only an inside check will show. Make sure insulation doesn’t block the airflow.
Rented homes, blocks and businesses
We survey roofs for landlords and agents as well as householders. The report gives you a dated record of the roof, with photos.
Letting agents can arrange access with tenants, at a time agreed beforehand. We survey on weekdays and at weekends, which helps when tenants work during the week.
Should I look at the roof myself first?
What you cannot do safely is get up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way, and a fall can be serious. That part is for a survey.
A DIY look is useful, but it isn’t a survey. From ground level, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are often out of sight, and those are details a survey looks at closely.
Why act early in Brogdale
Faults on high roofs tend to be found late. By then, timbers, ceilings and insulation may be wet. Looking from above picks up the early signs. Matching old materials, such as handmade tiles or stone slates, can take time to source. Spotting a problem early leaves room to find them.
Larger roofs, taller buildings and commercial roofs take longer, so the price reflects that. You will know the figure before booking.

Common questions in Brogdale
Do you cover smaller places like Brogdale?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work right across London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when booking.
Are there drone restrictions around Brogdale?
It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. Strong wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.
How experienced are you?
We have more than 20 years’ experience and have completed over 5,000 surveys across London and South East England.
Will I get photos?
Yes, plenty. Each finding is shown in a picture where possible, which makes the report easy to follow.
What’s the best way to book?
To book, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form and let us know the address and what you need to know. We will confirm the price and agree a day with you.
Do you carry professional indemnity insurance?
Our surveys are covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance. Ask if you need details for a managing agent or building owner.
Will you walk on the roof?
Only if it’s safe. We inspect whatever is safely visible: from ground level, from windows and vantage points, from the roof space, from the roof itself where safe and by drone where applicable. The report says if anything couldn’t be seen.
