Drone roof survey in Four Oaks: what you get
Neighbours’ privacy matters on every flight. The camera stays on your roof, not on gardens or windows next door. If your roof is shared, a word with next door beforehand helps. We survey the roof you’ve asked us to look at. Each flight is kept short and stays focused on the roof we are there to survey. If you’ve noticed cracked flaunching or loose chimney pots and loose ridge and hip tiles, we can find out what’s behind it.
Somewhere as small as Four Oaks, older roofs are frequently steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what can’t be reached safely. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.
With the Standard Survey, you also get moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey goes further, with thermal imaging, drone inspection where it applies, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

Do you need a drone roof survey in Four Oaks?
Height and steep pitches make close inspection risky. Tall townhouses, blocks of flats and offices are typical. We fly from the ground and bring the camera close to the roof.
Most people get in touch after spotting something like this:
- Standing water on a flat roof
- Moss and weeds taking hold up top
- Loose ridge and hip tiles
- Tired mortar and pots at the top of a stack
Belmont House and Gardens lies about 3.4 miles south, so building around Four Oaks goes back a long way. For older roofs nearby, a look from above or with a thermal imager is a hands-off way to check condition.

Before and after the survey
Some practical points come up on survey after survey. They’re worth knowing whatever the roof:
- Check the loft can be reached
- Make sure there’s room outside for the drone to take off
- Be ready to move the date if the weather turns
- Mention anything you’ve noticed on the roof
File the report and photos with your home documents. They’re a useful baseline for future surveys, and they help if you sell.
Look at the roof from the ground after strong winds. Debris in the garden is a sign to act on. A drone survey can show what has shifted.
Drones, thermal imaging and Four Oaks roofs
Four Oaks lies within about 3 miles of the sea, and wind near the sea can be strong. The weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead, as a small drone cannot fly safely in high wind or heavy rain. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons.
The streets around a church such as St Mary's Church are often among the oldest in a place, and if yours is one of the older homes nearby, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from the ground, and that’s where a view by drone or thermal camera helps. For site and facilities teams at buildings like Luddenham School, big roofs are where aerial photos and thermal images show the most at once.

Landlord and commercial surveys in Four Oaks

Surveys can also be booked by buyers’ agents acting for a client. The report is emailed, so it can go straight to your client.
What you can safely check yourself
Fresh stains on ceilings or walls after rain are worth noting. Take a photo and write down when you saw it, which helps when we look at the roof.
During heavy rain, look at the gutters from the ground or a window. Overflowing water can point to a blockage or a sagging run.
What we look for on each type of roof
Steep slate and tile slopes
Old slates and clay tiles can crack underfoot. The drone sees them without touching them, so the survey doesn’t add damage.
Flat roofs on tall buildings
Leaks frequently start at outlets, edges and around plant. They’re all captured in close-up.
Four Oaks: your questions answered
Can you fly a drone over a roof in Four Oaks?
Normally it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. Strong wind or a downpour also stops a small drone flying.
How do I find out if my home in Four Oaks is listed?
Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.
Does the report include photos?
Yes. Photographs are part of every report, so you can see each point for yourself.
Can you survey a shared roof?
Yes, as long as access is agreed. Roofs over flats are frequently shared, so we need permission from the building owner or managing agent. We can only inspect what we are given access to.
Is this an asbestos survey?
No. Asbestos surveys and testing are not part of what we do. We flag materials that could contain asbestos, like cement sheets or soffits on pre-2000 buildings.
How many surveys have you done?
More than 5,000 surveys over 20+ years.
How long is the visit?
It usually takes between one and two hours on an ordinary house, rising to roughly 3–4 hours on a commercial building. The report follows by email.
How the survey works
Where it is relevant and can be reached safely, the loft space is checked as well as the outside. Inside, we look for staining, damp, gaps and signs of movement. All in, the survey typically takes about 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Older roofs in small places like Four Oaks can have low, tight loft spaces, so it helps to know whether there’s a loft hatch and how easy it is to reach. Only areas that can be reached safely are inspected.
- We start by checking the airspace and any restrictions at your address.
- We arrange any permission that’s needed before we fly.
- Before the flight, we check the conditions and the take-off spot.
- We fly the drone close to the roof to photograph it in detail, always in sight.
- We email a written report with the photographs and our recommendations.
Before we arrive
- Keep pets inside or away from the areas we are looking at
- For a flat or shared roof, check access with whoever owns or manages the building
- Jot down any questions you want answered
