Drone roof surveys near Crowhurst

How a drone roof survey works in Crowhurst

Before any flight, we check the airspace. Near protected airports like Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton, flight restriction zones mean permission is needed first. Central London has restricted areas of its own, which need NATS permission. If we cannot fly, we use other safe vantage points instead and tell you. Prisons have their own drone restriction zones too. If you are worried about wind damage high on the roof and moss and weeds taking hold up top, a survey will tell you what’s going on, on valleys and parapet gutters, chimney stacks and large and complex roofs alike.

Somewhere as small as Crowhurst, older roofs are often steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what can’t be reached safely. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.

How fast the report arrives depends on the package: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day.

Can I check my roof myself?

It is useful to keep a record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Send it with your enquiry and it will help the survey.

If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Use a torch and stay on the joists or boards, checking for stains, damp wood or chinks of daylight.

What we can’t see

A survey is a proper look at the roof, but it can’t do everything. The main limits are:

  • Structural calculations (that’s a structural engineer’s job)
  • A flight on a day when the weather isn’t safe
  • Anything inside the loft or under the coverings

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we will tell you. What our survey covers.

What this survey covers

  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Fragile roofs
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Chimney stacks

Tips that help

You don’t need to be a roofer to help. What helps most:

  • Expect a little longer if permission is needed
  • Shut pets inside while we fly
  • Mention anything you’ve noticed on the roof
  • Make sure there’s room outside for the drone to take off

File the report and photos with your home documents. They give you something to compare against later, and they help if you sell.

Every so often, look in the roof space with a torch, keeping to boarded areas. The underside frequently shows problems before the outside does. Take photos of any changes.

Why it is worth a survey now in Crowhurst

A drone record gives you a baseline. Comparing them with later photos shows what has changed. It is useful for planning maintenance over the years. For an older or listed building in a place like Crowhurst, repairs may need matching materials and consent, so a defect found early gives time to plan the work properly.

Our price is from £400, including VAT. The final price depends on how big and how high the roof is, access and the package you choose.

FAQs for Crowhurst

Is Crowhurst within the area you cover?

Yes, we do. We work right across London and the South East, from towns to the smallest villages. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

Can you fly a drone over a roof in Crowhurst?

Typically it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.

How many surveys have you done?

We have more than 20 years’ experience and have completed over 5,000 surveys across London and the South East.

How much does a drone roof survey cost in Crowhurst?

Prices start from £400, including VAT. We confirm the exact price before you book. To get a price, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email.

Can you tell me if my roof has asbestos?

No. We don’t sample or test for asbestos. The report may flag materials that could contain asbestos on buildings built or refurbished before 2000.

Will I get photos?

Yes. The report includes photos of what we found, so you can see each point for yourself.

Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?

Yes, once access has been agreed. Roofs over flats are frequently shared, so the building owner or managing agent needs to agree access. We can only inspect what we’re given access to.

The survey, step by step

After the inspection, everything we found is written up as a photo-illustrated written report, emailed to you. As for time on site, it usually takes between one and two hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Older rural homes like those around Crowhurst can have a main roof, lower lean-to roofs and outbuildings all joined together. Each part is looked at from wherever it can be seen safely, and anything we cannot see is noted.

  1. You give us the address so we can check the airspace.
  2. Where a flight restriction zone or restricted area applies, we seek permission first.
  3. On the day, we check the weather and the site before flying.
  4. The sub-250g drone takes close-up photos of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
  5. We email a written report with the photos and our recommendations.

Getting ready for the survey

  • For flats, make sure roof access has been agreed
  • Move anything stored under the loft hatch
  • Keep pets inside or away from the areas we are looking at

How to book

If you’re buying, it helps to book soon after your offer is accepted, so you have the findings in time to act on them before you exchange. Otherwise, simply ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email whenever suits you.

Advice

Drone roof surveys in Crowhurst: local notes

The drone we use is under 250g, flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID. Open category rules keep flights below 120 m (400 ft) and the drone within sight at all times. Many older homes in Surrey have handmade clay tiles and tile-hung upper walls. Some old buildings in Surrey and Sussex have Horsham stone slab roofs. Where a roof is steep, tall or hard to see from the ground, drone photos and thermal images add detail.

The streets around a church like Church of St George are often among the oldest in a place, and if your home is one of the older ones nearby, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that is where a view by drone or thermal camera helps. Chartwell lies about 4.7 miles north-east, so building around Crowhurst goes back a long way. Older roofs nearby can be steep and hard to see from the ground, and a survey by drone or thermal camera doesn’t touch the roof itself.
