Drone roof surveys for Tandridge homes and businesses

Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Tandridge

We carry out drone roof surveys in Tandridge and across London and South East England, where the airspace and the weather allow. We fly on any day of the week. We check the airspace for your address before booking a flight. The report includes the drone photos and our recommendations. To check whether your roof suits a drone survey, ring 07833 053749 or email us with the address. If you’ve noticed wind damage high on the roof and tired mortar and pots at the top of a stack, a survey will tell you what’s going on, on tall and steep roofs, chimney stacks and flat roofs on upper floors alike.

Villages like Tandridge often stand in open country, where wind can be strong. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best with little wind. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.

Findings are set out part by part, from the main slopes down to the gutters and outlets, with a note and a photo for each point. You will see the good as well as the bad.

What affects the cost of drone roof surveys

Several things affect the price of a survey:

  • How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
  • Roof area
  • Whether it is a home or a commercial building
  • The use of thermal imaging or a drone

Our price is from £400, including VAT. Basic starts from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, VAT included, and we can help you choose.

Booking your survey

When you call or email, these details help:

  • The style of property, from a terrace to a block
  • The property’s address and postcode
  • The reason for the survey, such as buying, a leak or storm damage
  • Whether there’s a loft hatch, a shared roof or tricky access

Unsure which package suits your roof? The easiest way is to phone 07833 053749 or send us an email and describe the roof and what’s worrying you. We will explain the options and the price.

Leave it or get it looked at?

A drone record gives you a baseline. Next time, you can compare and see what has moved or worn. It’s useful for planning maintenance over the years. In a small place like Tandridge, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.

Larger roofs, taller buildings and commercial roofs take longer, so the price reflects that. You will know the figure before booking.

Surveys for landlords and agents in Tandridge

Where a roof is shared: we need access agreed with the building owner or managing agent. Mention it when you contact us and we’ll plan the visit with that in mind.

For a freeholder or residents’ company, a roof report is a sound basis for a maintenance plan, putting the urgent items at the top.

DIY checks: what’s safe

The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery, and falls from height are serious. That part is for a survey.

Watch the gutters in a downpour, from a window or the ground. Water spilling over the edge can be a sign of a blockage or a gutter that has dropped.

What this survey can’t tell you

Our survey isn’t a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. It also has these limits:

  • Neighbouring roofs the owner hasn’t asked us to survey
  • A flight where airspace permission is refused
  • The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)

If you are not sure which survey you need, call 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer. The full list of what we check.

Roof types and parts we check

What a drone roof survey looks like in Tandridge

Tandridge is about 2 miles from the edge of the flight restriction zone around Redhill Aerodrome. The exact boundary is checked for each address before any flight, and a roof inside it needs permission before we fly. We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight.

For site and facilities teams at buildings such as St Peter's CofE Infant School, a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it. Titsey Place lies about 3.4 miles north-east, so building around Tandridge goes back a long way. Aerial photos and thermal images let an old roof be checked without anyone disturbing it. If you own one of the older houses in the streets near Church of St Peter, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof frequently shows up clearly on a thermal image.

Tandridge is about 2 miles south-west of Oxted, in Surrey. Surveys in Tandridge work the same way as everywhere we cover: a proper look at what can safely be seen, photos and a clear written report. Tandridge is one of the towns and villages in Surrey we cover. For surveys nearby, see our Crawley page.

Within a short drive, we also cover Epsom (12 miles north-west), Horley (7 miles south-west), Redhill (6 miles west), Ewell (12 miles north-west), Reigate (7 miles west) and Caterham (4 miles north-west).

Common questions in Tandridge

Do you cover smaller places like Tandridge?

Yes, Tandridge is on our map. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one.

Are there drone restrictions around Tandridge?

Usually it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Tandridge is about 2 miles from the edge of the flight restriction zone around Redhill Aerodrome. We check the exact boundary for the address before flying, and if the roof falls inside it, we ask for permission first. A small drone can’t fly safely in high wind or heavy rain.

Do I need to be at home?

Not always. An outside-only look can be arranged beforehand, but anything inside needs someone there to give access.

What’s in the report?

It sets out what we found, why it matters and what we recommend, backed by photographs. It also says if any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely.

Do you carry professional indemnity insurance?

Our surveys are covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance. Ask if you need details for a managing agent or building owner.

What happens after the survey?

The report comes by email, and what you do next is up to you: use it with a seller, an insurer, a roofer or a managing agent.

Do you climb onto every roof?

Only when it’s safe. Safety comes first, and fragile or steep roofs can’t always be walked on. We use safe viewpoints, the roof space and a drone where applicable, and the report records anything we couldn’t see.

The survey, step by step

Every roof is different, but as a rough guide the survey takes between one and two hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. You are welcome to ask questions while we’re there. For a village or hamlet like Tandridge, the journey is planned ahead of time: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. On the day, we inspect what can be seen safely, inside and out.

  1. We start with the address and what you’d like checked.
  2. Airspace restrictions are checked and permission sought where needed.
  3. We assess the conditions and the take-off spot first.
  4. The drone photographs the roof closely, kept in sight throughout.
  5. We email the report with close-up photos and recommendations.

Before the survey

  • Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors
  • Buyers: confirm access with the estate agent or seller
  • Make sure the loft hatch can be reached
