Drone roof survey in Feering

We carry out drone roof surveys in Feering and across London and South East England, subject to airspace checks and the weather. Flights take place on weekdays and at weekends. Every address is checked for airspace restrictions first. The report includes the drone photos and our recommendations. To ask whether a drone survey suits your roof, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the address. Typical surveys look at slates or tiles shifted by high winds and gaps where slates or tiles have gone, on chimney stacks, large and complex roofs and fragile roofs.

In a village or hamlet like Feering, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you can’t get from ground level. Weather and airspace are checked before the visit. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.

If any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely, we say so in the report. You will know exactly what was inspected and what wasn’t, and what we’d suggest next.

Your questions about drone roof surveys in Feering

Is my home in Feering listed or in a conservation area?

Check Historic England’s online list first, then ask the council about conservation areas and any Article 4 direction. The answer matters most when a change of material is on the cards.

Is Feering within the area you cover?

Yes, we do. We cover the whole of London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned beforehand.

Can you fly a drone in central London?

Central London has restricted areas where NATS permission is needed. If permission is not possible, we inspect by other means and explain what we could see.

When does the report arrive?

It depends on the package: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day. The report is emailed to you.

Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?

Yes. A shared roof needs access agreed first. Let us know about it when you book and we will explain what’s needed.

What do I do with the report?

You’ll get the report by email. With Standard there is a follow-up consultation; with Premium, an in-person consultation, so you can talk the findings through.

Are you structural engineers?

No. Visible signs like deflection or sagging are recorded, but calculations and an engineer’s opinion are outside what we do. If one is needed, the report says so.

Flying and imaging in Feering

We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). Flights in the open category stay under 120 m (400 ft), with the drone kept in sight. Historic houses like Layer Marney Tower, about 3.8 miles south-east, show how far back building in the area around Feering goes. Period homes nearby can have lead valleys, tall chimneys and a patchwork of past repairs, and a listed home or one in a conservation area may need consent for changes of material.

If you live in an older home near Parish Church of All Saints, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement. For site and facilities teams at buildings like Feering Church of England Primary School, a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit.

Feering is about 5 miles north-east of Witham, in Essex. We survey roofs in Feering and the rest of Essex. Our Essex coverage includes Feering and the places around it. There’s also a page for Chelmsford.

Surveys in CO5 work the same way as everywhere else we cover. Local streets include The Street, Hall Farm Close and Kings Gardens. Nearby, we also carry out drone roof surveys in Kelvedon (1 mile south-west), Stocks Green (1 mile north), Skye Green (2 miles north), Messing (2 miles east) and Windmill Hill (2 miles south). Within a short drive, we also cover Colchester (8 miles east), Chelmsford (12 miles south-west), Braintree (7 miles west), Maldon (8 miles south), Witham (5 miles south-west) and Camulodunum (7 miles east).

What happens on the day

Expect us to ask a few questions before we start, such as when any problem began and what work has been done before. Then the inspection itself takes an hour or two on an ordinary house, and more on a big or complicated roof. Somewhere as small as Feering, access is often the only tricky part. Mention any outbuildings, barns or garages you want included, and anything about the roof you already know. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays.

  1. You give us the address and let us know about the roof.
  2. Airspace restrictions are checked and permission sought where needed.
  3. We assess the conditions and the take-off spot first.
  4. Close-up photos are taken of each slope, chimney, valley and gutter, with the drone always in view.
  5. The findings, photos and recommendations reach you by email.

How the survey changes by roof type

Chimney stacks

Chimney tops are hard to see from the ground. A drone gets close to the pots, flaunching, pointing and flashings, so cracks and gaps are clear.

Ridges and hips

Wind lifts loose ridge and hip tiles. Finding them early keeps them from coming down.

When you need someone else

In fairness, a roof survey has limits:

  • A structural engineer’s report
  • The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
  • Close-up photos of next door’s property

If you are not sure which survey you need, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll give you a straight answer. What a survey covers and does not.

Roofs we survey in Feering

  • Large and complex roofs
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Fragile roofs
  • Chimney stacks
  • Flat roofs on upper floors

Before and after the survey

From years of surveys, a few habits stand out:

  • A word with neighbours beforehand helps
  • Clear the loft hatch so we can check inside too
  • Mention anything you’ve noticed on the roof
  • Keep dogs indoors during the visit

With the Premium Survey, the report arrives the same day. It includes the drone photos where a flight was possible.

Have leaves and moss cleared from gutters, valleys and outlets, ideally once the leaves have fallen. On high roofs, leave clearing to a professional. Blocked hidden gutters cause many leaks.

Prices for drone roof surveys in Feering

Prices vary from roof to roof, and it comes down to:

  • The height of the building and how the roof can be seen safely
  • How big the roof is
  • The package you choose: Basic, Standard or Premium
  • Whether it is a home or a commercial building

Larger roofs, taller buildings and commercial roofs take longer, so the price reflects that. The price is confirmed before you book.

Booking your survey

What helps most when you contact us:

  • Any deadline, such as an exchange date
  • Any photos you have, taken from ground level or a window
  • Anything about access we should know
  • The reason for the survey, like buying, a leak or storm damage

Our phone lines are open seven days a week. To book or ask a question, phone 07833 053749 or email us.

Can I check my roof myself?

Look up at the roof after a storm, from ground level: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Don’t go up yourself.

During heavy rain, look at the gutters from ground level or a window. Water spilling over the edge can point to a blockage or a sagging run.
