Drone roof surveys for Hollingrove homes and businesses

Drone roof survey in Hollingrove

From the air, the outer surfaces are clear, but it can’t see inside. We check the loft from inside where it’s safe, because the underside tells its own story. Together, the two give a fuller picture. Your report shows the drone photos alongside what we saw in the loft. Where the loft cannot be reached safely, we note it. Typical surveys look at gaps where slates or tiles have gone and cracked mortar along the ridge, on fragile roofs, flat roofs on upper floors and valleys and parapet gutters.

Some older homes in villages like Hollingrove are listed or in a conservation area. Neither a drone survey nor a thermal survey involves any work on the roof, which suits a building where any change needs care, before anyone decides what work it needs. Check with the council before planning any work on a listed building or one in a conservation area.

With the Standard Survey, you also get moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey goes further, with thermal imaging, drone inspection where it applies, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

Tips from our surveys

A little preparation and a few simple habits help. Some pointers:

  • Allow time for permission if you are in a flight restriction zone
  • Clear the loft hatch so we can check inside too
  • Expect us to rearrange if it is too windy or wet
  • Keep a clear space in the garden or drive for take-off

You get an in-person consultation with the Premium Survey to go through what the drone showed. It’s a chance to ask about anything in the report.

Every so often, look in the loft space with a torch, keeping to boarded areas. The underside often shows problems before the outside does. Photograph anything new.

What affects the price in Hollingrove

Several things affect the price of a survey:

  • The package you choose: Basic, Standard or Premium
  • How complicated the roof is, with its valleys, chimneys and parapets
  • The use of thermal imaging or a drone
  • Roof area

For a price for your roof in Hollingrove, call 07833 053749 or send us an email with the address and a few details. We will confirm the figure before booking.

Helping us price your survey

These details help when you get in touch:

  • Where water is showing inside, if it is
  • How the loft is reached, if there is one
  • What’s prompted the survey
  • Pictures from the garden or a window, if you have them

Not sure which survey you need? The easiest way is to phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email and describe the roof and why you want it surveyed. We’ll explain the options and the price.

FAQs for Hollingrove

Does a conservation area affect roof work in Hollingrove?

We cannot confirm that for you, but Historic England’s list and your council can. Both listing and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.

Are there drone restrictions around Hollingrove?

That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. Strong wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.

How many surveys have you done?

We’ve been surveying roofs for over 20 years and have completed over 5,000 surveys across London and the South East.

Can you survey at the weekend?

We survey seven days a week: Monday to Friday, Saturdays and Sundays. Just tell us the days that suit you.

Does the weather affect the survey?

It can, depending on the survey. Drones can’t fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best with a dry roof, little wind and a sunny day beforehand. If the conditions aren’t right, we’ll talk to you about another date.

Do you cover Hollingrove for drone roof surveys?

Yes. Hollingrove is part of the area we cover, and the service is the same as everywhere else we work.

How much does a drone roof survey cost in Hollingrove?

Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. What you pay for your roof depends on its size, height, access and the package, confirmed before anything is booked.

Should I look at the roof myself first?

A lot can be seen from ground level. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Never climb onto the roof to look.

After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Don’t go up yourself.

What this survey can’t tell you

It helps to know what a survey won’t do before you book:

  • Roofs and gardens beyond the one we are surveying
  • Flights in strong wind or heavy rain
  • Anything inside the loft or under the coverings

If in doubt, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we’ll suggest the right survey before you book. What our survey covers.

What we look at

  • Fragile roofs
  • Chimney stacks
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Flat roofs on upper floors

Do you need a drone roof survey in Hollingrove?

Height and steep pitches make close inspection risky. Tall townhouses, blocks of flats and offices are typical. We fly from the ground and bring the camera close to the roof.

Here are some of the things we see often:

  • Lead work pulling away at abutments
  • Moss building up on slopes and in gutters
  • Cracked flaunching or loose chimney pots
  • Flat roofs on upper floors that hold water

Historic houses such as Bateman's, about 2.2 miles north-west, show how far back building around Hollingrove goes. For older roofs nearby, a look from above or with a thermal imager is a hands-off way to check condition.

Choosing a roof surveyor

  • What they won’t be able to tell you
  • Whether you get a written report with photos
  • Do they have a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID for drone work?
  • Whether you can ask questions once you have the report

What a good roof survey covers

Drone roof surveys in Hollingrove: local notes

Many older homes in Sussex have handmade clay tiles and tile-hung walls. Some old buildings in Sussex have Horsham stone slab roofs, and oast houses and timber-framed Wealden hall houses are part of East Sussex’s older buildings. Where a roof is steep, tall or hard to see from ground level, drone photos and thermal images add detail. We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight.

If you own one of the older houses in the streets near The Parish Church of St Thomas A Becket, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help.

What happens on the day

We look at the roof from outside and, where it’s relevant and there’s safe access, from inside the roof space too. Inside, we look for staining, damp, gaps and signs of movement. The whole visit normally takes about one to two hours on an ordinary house, with bigger or more complicated roofs taking longer. Around Hollingrove, older homes can have small or awkward roof spaces, so it is useful to know whether there is a loft hatch and how easy it is to reach. We only go where it’s safe.

  1. You give us the address so we can check the airspace.
  2. We arrange any permission that’s needed before we fly.
  3. We assess the wind, the weather and the surroundings before take-off.
  4. We fly the drone close to the roof to photograph it in detail, always in sight.
  5. You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.

Before the survey
