Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Kings Hill
Drone roof surveys are available in Kings Hill and throughout London and the South East, subject to airspace checks and the weather. We fly on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Every address is checked for airspace restrictions first. You get a written report with close-up photographs and recommendations. To check whether your roof suits a drone survey, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email. We’re frequently asked to look into storm damage on steep or tall roofs and coverings that have slipped high up on the roof, on tall and steep roofs, flat roofs on upper floors and fragile roofs.
Even in a smaller place like Kings Hill, there may be airfields or restrictions nearby, so the Drone Safety Map is checked before any flight. Open ground can mean stronger wind, which also affects whether a small drone can fly, while thermal imaging also works best with little wind. Neighbours’ privacy is part of planning each flight, along with the airspace and the weather.
The report records the roof as we found it on the day. It’s useful straight away, and a good reference for later.

What we do, step by step
We work from the outside in: first the slopes, edges and gutters from every safe viewpoint, then the loft space where it can be reached. All told, expect about one to two hours at a typical home, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. In a smaller place like Kings Hill, parking is seldom the issue; lanes, gates and long drives are worth mentioning. Low roofs on bungalows can often be seen well from the ground, and the loft shows the rest, while taller roofs may need other vantage points or the drone where it applies.
- First, we check the address for flight restrictions.
- We arrange any permission that’s needed before we fly.
- We assess the wind, the weather and the surroundings before take-off.
- The sub-250g drone takes close-up photos of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
- You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.
Preparing for the visit
- For a flat or shared roof, check access with the freeholder or managing agent
- Show us where any leaks or stains appear
- Move anything stored under the loft hatch

Advice
Roof by roof
Steep slate and tile slopes
On slate roofs, slipped slates frequently point to corroded nails. We can see the extent of it from above.
Large commercial roofs
Fragile roof sheets and roof lights can be dangerous to walk on. A drone keeps everyone off them.

Signs you need a drone roof survey in Kings Hill
Hidden gutters and valleys are easy to overlook. Debris collects where nobody looks, until it causes a leak inside. A drone shows them clearly from above.
Here are some of the things we see frequently:
- Gaps where slates or tiles have gone
- Eroded pointing on a chimney stack
- Plant growth and moss on the roof
- Cracked mortar along the ridge
Take a building like Kings Hill School: a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it.

Airspace, weather and Kings Hill roofs
Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. With Old Soar Manor about 3.7 miles west, Kings Hill sits in an area with a long building history. If your home is one of the older ones, expect a mix of original materials and later repairs on the roof.
For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St John the Baptist, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.

Should I look at the roof myself first?
A lot can be seen from the ground. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Never climb onto the roof to look.
A DIY look is useful, but it isn’t a survey. You will not see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from the ground, and those are details a survey looks at closely.
Common questions in Kings Hill
Can you fly a drone over a roof in Kings Hill?
It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. Strong wind or a downpour also stops a small drone flying.
Is Kings Hill within the area you cover?
Yes, we do. We cover the whole of London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned ahead of time.
What’s in the survey report?
It works through the roof part by part, in writing and with photos, finishing with recommendations. The most urgent items are made clear.
How fast do I get the report?
Each package has its own report time. Basic is within 48 hours, Standard is 24–48 hours and Premium is the same day. Mention any deadline as you book.
Will you check the loft?
Usually, if there is one and it can be reached safely. From inside, the underside of the roof often shows damp, staining or daylight that cannot be seen from outside.
Will I get photos?
Yes. Photographs are part of every report.
Do I have to be there for the survey?
Not always. If we only need the outside, we can agree that beforehand, but the loft and any rooms with damp need someone to let us in.
Surveys for landlords and agents in Kings Hill
Buyers’ agents can book surveys on behalf of their clients. The report is emailed, so it can go straight to your client, photographs included.
An agent can book and manage the survey for a landlord, with the report sent to whoever needs it. We agree a time with the tenant beforehand.
Honest limits
Without opening up the roof, some things stay hidden, so a survey has limits:
- What’s under the slates, tiles or felt
- A flight where airspace permission is refused
- Roofs and gardens beyond the one we’re surveying
If you’re not sure which survey you need, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we will give you a straight answer. What our survey covers.
