Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Sevenoaks

We carry out drone roof surveys in Sevenoaks and across London and South East England, where the airspace and the weather allow. We fly seven days a week. Every address is checked for airspace restrictions first. The report includes the drone photos and our recommendations. To ask whether a drone survey suits your roof, call 07833 053749 or email us with the address. We survey tall and steep roofs, flat roofs on upper floors and large and complex roofs, and the problems we’re asked to look at most are standing water on a flat roof and blocked valleys and parapet gutters.

Before any drone flight in a town like Sevenoaks, the airspace is checked on the Drone Safety Map, which shows restriction zones around airports and prisons. Our drone weighs under 250g, and we’re a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). Neighbours’ privacy is part of planning every flight. In the open category, flights stay under 120 m (400 ft) with the drone in sight.

The report does not just list problems. For each finding, it explains what it is, why it matters and what we’d recommend, so you can plan your next steps.

When you need someone else

No survey can tell you everything, and it is better to know them up front. Keep these in mind:

  • Neighbouring roofs the owner hasn’t asked us to survey
  • Anything inside the loft or under the coverings
  • A flight where airspace permission is refused

If you’re not sure which survey you need, phone 07833 053749 or email us and we will give you a straight answer. What our survey covers.

What we check

  • Large and complex roofs
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Chimney stacks
  • Fragile roofs
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters

What we are asked to look at in Sevenoaks

Steep and tall roofs are hard to inspect safely. Tall townhouses, blocks of flats and offices are typical. We fly from ground level and bring the camera close to the roof.

Problems we come across frequently include:

  • Damage after a storm that can’t be seen from below
  • Flashings that have come away
  • Standing water on a flat roof
  • Cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below

The streets around a church such as St John the Baptist are frequently among the oldest in a place, and if your house is among the older ones nearby, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.

Questions to ask before booking

  • Will the report include photos?
  • Their report turnaround times
  • Is there a chance to talk the report through?
  • Whether VAT is in the quoted price

What to expect from a roof survey

What we look for on each type of roof

Steep slate and tile slopes

Widespread slipping on slate typically means nail fatigue. Close-up photos show how widespread it is.

Valleys and parapet gutters

Some older terraces have a butterfly roof with a valley in the middle. It is almost impossible to see from ground level, but a drone shows it clearly.

What a drone roof survey looks like in Sevenoaks

Older houses across Kent often have handmade clay or peg tiles, and many have tile-hung walls. Oast houses and timber-framed Wealden hall houses are part of the county’s older buildings too. Where a roof is steep, tall or hard to see from the ground, drone photos and thermal images add detail. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first.

For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Sevenoaks Primary School, thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof. Historic houses like Knole House, about 1.3 miles south-east, show how far back building around Sevenoaks goes. Photos from the air and thermal images let an old roof be checked without anyone disturbing it.

Sevenoaks is about 19 miles south-east of London, in Kent. Whether the building in Sevenoaks is a house, a flat or a commercial unit, the roof can be surveyed on a weekday or at the weekend. Sevenoaks is one of the towns and villages in Kent we cover. Maidstone is in our area too.

Drone roof surveys in TN13, TN14, TN15 and TN8 are booked the same way as anywhere else. Streets in the area include London Road, High Street and Church Road, all of which we cover. You’ll find Sevenoaks on the A21 and A25, which makes it simple to reach. Close by, we survey roofs in Riverhead (1 mile west), Kippington (1 mile south), Dunton Green (1 mile north-west), Bessels Green (1 mile west) and Chipstead (2 miles west). Further out, we also cover Maidstone (15 miles east), Dartford (11 miles north), Royal Tunbridge Wells (11 miles south), Gravesend (13 miles north-east), Tonbridge (7 miles south-east) and Northfleet (13 miles north-east). Being one of Kent’s larger places, Sevenoaks has homes, rented property and businesses of every kind.

For landlords and managing agents

An agent can book and manage the survey for a landlord, and the report can go to both. Access is agreed with the tenant in advance.

With a portfolio of properties, you can book surveys for several addresses. To arrange surveys for several addresses, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email.

How the survey works

You do not need to do much on the day. Point out anything you’ve noticed, like stains, drips or loose pieces, and we’ll take it from there. A typical survey takes about one to two hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. In Sevenoaks, many roofs join a neighbour’s, so we look at what can be seen of the shared parts from your side. Tell us about any known leaks, past repairs or building work when you book.

  1. We start by making sure a drone flight makes sense for the roof.
  2. We agree a date, including weekends, subject to the weather.
  3. We fly over the roof, keeping the camera on the property we are surveying.
  4. Where there’s safe access, we check the loft as well.
  5. You get photos, findings and clear recommendations.

Getting ready for the survey

  • Let us know about any leaks, stains or damp patches you know of
  • Clear the way to the loft hatch
  • Keep pets in another room

Common questions in Sevenoaks

How do I find out if my home in Sevenoaks is listed?

The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. It’s worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.

Is drone flying allowed in Sevenoaks?

It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.

What will the report tell me?

A written report with photos, explaining the condition of the roof, any defects and our recommendations. Standard adds moisture detection and a structural check; Premium adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable and structural analysis.

Do you cover Sevenoaks?

Yes. We survey roofs across London and South East England, Sevenoaks included.

Will I get photos?

Yes. Photos are part of every report, so you can see exactly what each finding refers to.

Do you climb onto every roof?

Not always. Safety comes first, and fragile or steep roofs can’t always be walked on. We use safe viewpoints, the loft space and a drone where applicable, and the report records anything we couldn’t see.

Do you carry out surveys on Saturdays and Sundays?

Surveys run on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. To arrange a date, call 07833 053749 or send us an email.

What you can safely check yourself

It helps to keep a record: dates of leaks, photos from the ground and any work done on the roof. Share it with us when you book and it will help the survey.

Look up at the roof after a storm, from the ground: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Don’t go up yourself.
