How a drone roof survey works in Leadingcross Green
Every flight starts with an airspace check. Near protected airports like Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton, flight restriction zones mean permission is needed first. Central London has restricted areas of its own, which need NATS permission. If permission isn’t given, we inspect by other means and tell you. Prisons have their own drone restriction zones too. Common reasons to book are eroded pointing on a chimney stack and ponding and splits on a high flat roof, on tall and steep roofs, chimney stacks and valleys and parapet gutters.
Villages like Leadingcross Green frequently stand in open country, where wind can be strong. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best with little wind. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.
Report times depend on the survey you book: the Basic Survey within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey on the same day.

Different roofs, different checks
Steep slate and tile slopes
Widespread slipping on slate normally means nail fatigue. Close-up photos show how widespread it is.
Flat roofs on tall buildings
The flat roof on top of a block is rarely looked at. A drone shows ponding, splits, blisters and worn upstands.
Your questions about drone roof surveys in Leadingcross Green
Does a conservation area affect roof work in Leadingcross Green?
We can’t confirm that for you, but Historic England’s list and your council can. Both listing and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.
Do you cover smaller places like Leadingcross Green?
We do. Villages and rural addresses get the same survey as a town house.
Can you survey at the weekend?
Visits run seven days a week in the daytime. Let us know your preferred days when booking.
Does the report include photographs?
Yes, every report has them. Pictures sit next to the findings they show.
Will the drone show what’s under the tiles?
No. It photographs the outside, not the inside. The loft space is checked separately, where there is safe access.
What’s the best way to book?
The quickest way is to phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form. Give us the address and some details about the roof, and we will take it from there. We survey seven days a week.
Do I need to be at home?
That depends on the survey. For inside areas and the loft space, someone has to give us access, while outside access can be discussed when booking.

What we need to know
What helps most when you contact us:
- Any deadline, such as an exchange date
- The kind of building and roof involved
- Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
- What made you get in touch
Our price is from £400, including VAT. What you pay depends on the roof’s size, access and the package, so ring 07833 053749 or email us with the details.
How the survey works
The visit normally starts outside and finishes in the loft: outside views come first, then the roof space if there’s safe access. In total, it takes roughly 1–2 hours at a typical home, rising to roughly 3–4 hours on a commercial building. Cottages and farmhouses around Leadingcross Green frequently have roofs at several levels, with lean-tos and outbuildings attached. We work round each section in turn, from the safest viewpoints, and anything we can’t see is noted.
- We confirm whether a drone suits your roof.
- A visit is booked for a weekday, Saturday or Sunday, weather permitting.
- The roof is photographed from the air, with the camera kept on your property.
- If the loft can be reached safely, it’s checked too.
- The report sets out what we found, with photos and recommendations.
Before the survey
- Check the loft hatch can be reached
- Leave side gates unlocked
- Dig out any old roof reports or invoices

Surveys for landlords and agents in Leadingcross Green

Landlords, agents and building managers in Leadingcross Green and across Kent can book any of our surveys. To discuss a property or a block, phone 07833 053749 or email us.
Should I look at the roof myself first?
The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery. That’s where a survey comes in.
If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.
Common roof problems in Leadingcross Green
Parapet gutters, box gutters and central valleys sit out of sight. Leaves, silt and plant growth build up unseen, until water overflows inside. From above, they’re easy to see.
Things that often lead to a survey include:
- Blocked valleys and parapet gutters
- Damage after a storm that cannot be seen from below
- Chimney tops in poor condition
- Lifted or split lead flashings
Take an older house close to St Mary's Church: tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.
Questions to ask before booking
- Whether the roof space is looked at, where there is one
- Which parts of the roof they’ll actually see
- Is there a chance to talk the report through?
- What experience they bring
Flying and imaging in Leadingcross Green
Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. Older houses across Kent often have handmade clay or peg tiles, and many have tile-hung walls. Kent’s older buildings take in oast houses and timber-framed Wealden hall houses as well. Where a roof is steep, tall or hard to see from the ground, drone photos and thermal images add detail.
Anyone responsible for a site like Lenham Primary School will know that a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit. Historic houses like Leeds Castle, about 3.6 miles west, show how far back building around Leadingcross Green goes.
