How a drone roof survey works in Potters Corner
Drone roof surveys are available in Potters Corner and throughout London and South East England, subject to airspace checks and the weather. Flights take place on weekdays and at weekends. We check the airspace for your address before booking a flight. You get a written report with close-up photographs and recommendations. To check whether your roof suits a drone survey, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form with the address. We survey valleys and parapet gutters, chimney stacks and fragile roofs, and common reasons people get in touch are tired mortar and pots at the top of a stack and debris building up in hidden gutters.
Some older homes in villages like Potters Corner are listed or in a conservation area. Neither a drone survey nor a thermal survey involves any work on the roof, which suits a building where any change needs care. Changes that affect a listed building’s special interest need listed building consent, so check with the council first.
Nothing in the report is left vague: if work is needed, the report says so clearly, and where it can wait, that is said too.

Practical tips
Getting the most from a drone roof survey starts before we arrive and carries on afterwards. Some tips:
- Expect a little longer if permission is needed
- Check there’s room outside for the drone to take off
- Share the postcode so we can check for restrictions
- Let us know what you want to see
File the report and photos with your home documents. They’re a useful baseline for future surveys, and they help if you sell.
After a storm, check from the garden and the street. Debris in the garden is a sign to act on. A drone survey can show what has shifted.
Potters Corner questions
Will you come out to Potters Corner?
We do. Villages and rural addresses get the same survey as a town house.
Can you fly a drone over a roof in Potters Corner?
It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. Strong wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.
How long is the visit?
Most surveys take about one to two hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. The report follows by email.
What will the report tell me?
You get our findings in writing, part by part, with photos. Points are put with the most urgent first where relevant.
Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?
Yes. Shared roofs just need a little more planning. Mention it when you contact us and we will plan the survey around it.
Can you survey in bad weather?
A survey can usually go ahead in light rain. High wind or heavy rain can stop drone flights and make roof access unsafe, so if conditions aren’t right we’ll arrange another day with you.
What insurance do you have?
Our surveys are covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance. If you need details for a managing agent or a building owner, just ask.
Drone roof surveys in Potters Corner: local notes
Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. Handmade clay tiles, including Kent peg tiles hung on pegs through two holes, are typical of older Kent buildings. You’ll also find oast houses and timber-framed Wealden hall houses among the county’s older buildings. Where a roof is steep, tall or hard to see from ground level, drone photos and thermal images add detail.
Take a building like Goat Lees Primary School: big roofs are where aerial photos and thermal images show the most at once. Historic houses such as Godinton House, about 1.2 miles south-west, show how far back building around Potters Corner goes. A drone or thermal survey doesn’t involve any work on the roof, which suits older buildings. If you run a business near County Square, big, flat commercial roofs are where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help most.

What happens if roof problems are left?
Photographing a roof from the air doesn’t touch it. Nothing is cracked or dislodged by footsteps, so you see the roof exactly as it is. For older village homes like those around Potters Corner, the right replacement materials are not always easy to find quickly. Spotting a problem early leaves room to find them.
We offer three survey packages: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, with VAT included. The price for your roof depends on its size, access and what you need to know.

When you need someone else
A survey is a careful look at the roof, but it cannot do everything. Its limits include:
- Photos in conditions too poor to fly
- Neighbouring roofs the owner hasn’t asked us to survey
- Flights in a restricted zone without permission
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can ring 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll tell you. The full list of what we check.
What this survey covers
- Tall and steep roofs
- Flat roofs on upper floors
- Large and complex roofs
- Valleys and parapet gutters
- Chimney stacks
- Fragile roofs
Can I check my roof myself?
After heavy rain, check ceilings and the tops of walls for new stains. Photograph them and note the date, which helps when we look at the roof.
If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.
Landlords, agents and block managers in Potters Corner
An agent can book and manage the survey for a landlord. We agree a time with the tenant beforehand.
Where a roof is shared: we need access agreed with the building owner or managing agent. Let us know about it when you book and we will plan the survey around it.
The survey, step by step
It’s useful to start with what’s prompted the survey: a purchase, a leak, a storm, new work or simply peace of mind. That way we can focus on what matters to you. Most visits take between one and two hours at a typical home, or half a day or so for a commercial building. Somewhere as small as Potters Corner, access is often the only tricky part. Mention any outbuildings, barns or garages you want included, and anything about the roof you already know. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays.
- We start by checking the airspace and any restrictions at your address.
- If permission is needed, we ask for it ahead of the visit.
- We assess the wind, the weather and the surroundings before take-off.
- We fly the drone close to the roof to photograph it in detail, always in sight.
- You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.
Preparing for the visit
- Jot down any questions you want answered
- Check pets are kept safely away
- If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building
