Stockbury questions

Will you come out to Stockbury?

Yes, Stockbury is covered. We work right across London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

Is drone flying allowed in Stockbury?

The answer turns on the exact location and the conditions on the day. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain.

What does the report include?

Written findings with photographs, covering the condition of the roof, the defects we found and what we recommend, in order of urgency where relevant. Standard adds moisture detection and a structural check; Premium adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable and structural analysis.

How long does the survey take?

Expect it to take about 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. You will then get the report by email.

Do you survey on Saturdays and Sundays?

Surveys run on weekdays and at weekends. To find a day that suits you, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form.

I live in a flat. Can you survey the roof?

Yes, once whoever controls the roof agrees access. On a shared roof we can only inspect the parts we’re allowed to reach.

Do you take photos of the roof?

Yes. We photograph the roof as we go, and the report uses them to show each finding.

Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Stockbury

Neighbours’ privacy matters on every flight. We keep the camera on the roof we are surveying, not on neighbouring homes and gardens. If your roof is shared, a word with next door beforehand helps. We inspect only what the owner has asked us to. Flights are kept as short as the job allows and focused on the roof in question. We survey fragile roofs, chimney stacks and tall and steep roofs, and the problems we’re asked to look at most are lifted or split lead flashings and wind damage high on the roof.

Villages like Stockbury often stand in open country, where wind can be strong. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or a downpour, and thermal imaging works best with little wind. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.

Every survey ends with a written report, with photographs, sent by email. It sets out the condition of the roof, any defects and our written recommendations.

For landlords and managing agents

An agent can book and manage the survey for a landlord. We agree a time with the tenant beforehand.

Letting agents can arrange access with tenants. We survey seven days a week, which can make access easier.

What a survey costs

Prices always include VAT. What changes the price is:

  • Features like valleys, chimneys, dormers and parapets
  • Commercial roofs and larger buildings
  • The package you choose: Basic, Standard or Premium
  • If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone

The Premium Survey includes thermal imaging and drone inspection where applicable, from £400 inc. VAT. We can help you choose the package that fits what you want to find out.

Getting in touch

Some details help us point you to the right survey and price. When you contact us, tell us:

  • The address and postcode of the property
  • Why you want a survey: buying, a leak, a storm or new work
  • The style of property, from a terrace to a block
  • Photos of the roof, taken safely from ground level or a window

When you are ready to go ahead, phone 07833 053749 or email us. From there it’s a case of choosing a package, agreeing the price and fixing a day, weekday or weekend.

Can I check my roof myself?

You can learn a lot from the ground. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Please do not climb up for a closer look.

If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.

What happens on the day

The visit has one job: to see as much of the roof as can safely be seen and record it clearly. Notes and photos go into the written report. The visit normally takes an hour or two at most homes, and longer for a large or complex roof. In a hamlet or village like Stockbury, a postcode does not always lead to the right gate, so a few directions, or a note of a nearby landmark, help us arrive on time. After that, the survey runs as it would anywhere.

  1. We start by making sure a drone flight makes sense for the roof.
  2. A date is fixed, with a fallback in case the weather turns.
  3. Aerial photos are taken of your roof only, not the neighbours’.
  4. If the loft can be reached safely, it’s checked too.
  5. The report sets out what we found, with photos and recommendations.

Before we arrive

  • Make sure we can get to the back of the property
  • Note where any stains or damp appear
  • For a flat or shared roof, check access with whoever owns or manages the building

What a drone roof survey looks like in Stockbury

Stockbury lies within about 5 miles of the sea, and wind near the sea can be strong. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or a downpour, so the weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead. We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). Open category rules keep flights below 120 m (400 ft) and the drone within sight at all times.

The streets around a church like St Mary Magdalene Church are often among the oldest in a place, and if yours is one of the older homes nearby, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where aerial photos and thermal images help. For any home in Stockbury, it’s the small, early fault that is cheapest to put right.

What this survey cannot tell you

Without opening up the roof, some things stay hidden, and that sets some limits:

  • Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission
  • A structural engineer’s report
  • Neighbouring roofs the owner hasn’t asked us to survey

If you’re not sure which survey you need, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will give you a straight answer before you book. The full list of what we check.

Roof types and parts we check

  • Large and complex roofs
  • Chimney stacks
  • Fragile roofs
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Flat roofs on upper floors

Why it is worth a survey now in Stockbury

A drone survey disturbs nothing on the roof. Nothing is cracked or dislodged by footsteps, so the survey doesn’t create new problems. Matching old materials, like handmade tiles or stone slates, can take time to source. Spotting a problem early leaves room to find them.

To find out what your survey will cost, ring 07833 053749 or email us and tell us about the roof. We’ll confirm the figure before booking.
