Drone Roof Survey in Danaway
Close-up drone photographs of roofs that are hard to reach in Danaway. More than 5,000 surveys completed across London and South East England.
- Blocked valleys and parapet gutters
- Wind damage high on the roof
- Chimney tops in poor condition
Before and after the survey
Over many surveys, some simple habits stand out:
- Clear the loft hatch so we can check inside too
- Let us know what you want to see
- Clear a spot on the drive or lawn
- A word with neighbours beforehand helps
Keep the photos with your property records. They’re a useful baseline for future surveys, and they help if you sell.
Keep gutters, valleys and outlets clear, ideally once the leaves have fallen. On high roofs, leave clearing to a professional. Blocked hidden gutters cause many leaks.
Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Danaway
Before any flight, we check the airspace. Near protected airports like Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton, flight restriction zones mean permission is needed first. Parts of central London have restricted areas too, where NATS permission is needed. If permission is not given, we inspect by other means and tell you. Prison sites also have drone restriction zones. We are often asked to look into coverings that have slipped high up on the roof and moss building up on slopes and in gutters, across tall and steep roofs, chimney stacks and flat roofs on upper floors.
In a village or hamlet like Danaway, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you can’t get from ground level. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.
You can share the report with anyone who needs it: your solicitor, the seller, your insurer, a roofer or the building’s managing agent, whichever applies.

What happens on the day
There isn’t much for you to do on the day. Point out anything you’ve noticed, such as stains, drips or loose pieces, and we’ll get on with the inspection. A typical survey takes between one and two hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Cottages and farmhouses around Danaway often have roofs at several levels, with lean-tos and outbuildings attached. We work round each section in turn, from the safest viewpoints, and anything we can’t see is noted.
- First, we check whether a drone is the right tool.
- A visit is booked for a weekday, Saturday or Sunday, weather permitting.
- The roof is photographed from the air, with the camera kept on your property.
- If the loft can be reached safely, it is checked too.
- You get photos, findings and clear recommendations.
How to prepare
- Clear the way to the loft hatch
- Let us know where we can park nearby
- If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building
Booking a survey
Buyers should book once an offer has been accepted, so you have the findings in time to act on them before you exchange. Otherwise, simply phone 07833 053749 or email us whenever suits you.
Advice
What affects the price in Danaway
What a survey costs depends on the time and equipment it needs. That comes down to:
- Commercial roofs and larger buildings
- Whether you choose the Basic, Standard or Premium Survey
- The use of thermal imaging or a drone
- The roof’s overall size
Thermal imaging and drone inspection (where it applies) come with the Premium Survey, which starts from £400, including VAT. We will tell you which package suits the questions you have.

FAQs for Danaway
Will you come out to Danaway?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We cover the whole of London and South East England. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when booking.
Can you fly a drone over a roof in Danaway?
That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.
I live in a flat. Can you survey the roof?
Yes. Shared roofs just need a little more planning, with whoever owns or manages the building. Let us know about it when booking and we will explain what’s needed.
What if it rains on the day?
Some surveys depend on the weather more than others. Drones cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best with a dry roof, little wind and a sunny day beforehand. If the conditions are not right, we will talk to you about another date.
How much does a drone roof survey cost in Danaway?
Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. We confirm the price for your survey before you book, based on the roof’s size, access and package. To get a price, call 07833 053749 or send us an email.
Will you walk on the roof?
Only if it’s safe. We look at everything that can be seen safely: from ground level, from windows, from inside the roof space, from the roof where it’s safe and by drone where it applies. The report says if anything couldn’t be seen.
Are you structural engineers?
No. We note visible signs such as sagging or deflection, but we are not structural engineers and don’t carry out calculations. Where an engineer is needed, we say so in the report.
Do you need a drone roof survey in Danaway?
Parapet gutters, box gutters and central valleys sit out of sight. Debris collects where nobody looks, until it causes a leak inside. From above, they’re easy to see.
People normally book a survey after spotting one of these:
- Slates or tiles shifted by high winds
- Vegetation in valleys and gutters
- Eroded pointing on a chimney stack
- Coverings that have slipped high up on the roof
Take an older house close to Church of St Peter and St Paul: steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from the ground, and that’s where a view from the air or with a thermal camera helps.
Before booking anyone

- When you’ll get the report
- What exactly goes into their report
- Which parts of the roof they’ll actually see
Why act early in Danaway
It is hard to plan maintenance for a roof nobody has looked at. You get photos of every part we can see, with recommendations prioritised by urgency where relevant. That helps you put the work in order. Older and listed buildings around Danaway may need consent and matching materials for repairs, so a defect found early gives time to plan the work properly.

A butterfly roof drains to a central valley gutter. You can’t see it from the street at all, but it’s plain to see from the air.
Chimney stacks
Chimney tops are hard to see from ground level. Close-up photos show the pots, flaunching, pointing and flashings.
