Drone roof survey in Newington, Kent
Close-up drone photographs of roofs that are hard to reach in Newington, with drones and thermal imaging where they help. Get in touch for a price.
- Standing water on a flat roof

- Damage after a storm that cannot be seen from below
What a drone roof survey doesn’t cover
Our findings are based on what we can see safely on the day, so some things are outside what a survey can do:
- Whether the roof structure meets design loads
- Photos in conditions too poor to fly
- Anything inside the loft or under the coverings
If in doubt, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email and we will point you to the right survey before booking. What a survey covers and does not.
Roof types and parts we check

- Tall and steep roofs
- Chimney stacks
- Fragile roofs
- Valleys and parapet gutters
- Large and complex roofs
About our drone roof survey in Newington
We fly a sub-250g drone, and we are a CAA-registered drone operator, with a Flyer ID and an Operator ID. We keep it in sight throughout, and well below the 120-metre height limit. Every flight is planned around the roof, the site and the people nearby. Before every flight, we check the airspace and the weather. We never fly where it isn’t safe. If you’ve noticed ridge and hip pieces working loose and vegetation in valleys and gutters, we can find out what’s behind it.
Around Newington, a good many roofs are low enough to see partly from the garden or the street. Chimney tops, valleys and rear slopes are where close-up or thermal images help most. The forecast decides the day. Even so, a close-up image often shows wear on ridges and flashings that a view from the ground misses.
The written findings come by email, easy to pass on to a roofer, an agent or an insurer. Turnaround is within 48 hours for Basic, 24–48 hours for Standard and same day for Premium.

Drones, thermal imaging and Newington roofs
Newington lies within about 3 miles of the sea, where wind off the sea can be strong. The weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead, as a small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or a downpour. Many older homes in Kent have handmade clay tiles, including Kent peg tiles held by pegs through two holes, and tile-hanging on their upper walls. Kent’s older buildings take in oast houses and timber-framed Wealden hall houses as well. Many roofs like these can’t be judged properly from the pavement, and that is where a view from above or a thermal image earns its place.
Take an older house close to Church of St Mary: tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.
Newington is about 3 miles west of Sittingbourne, in Kent. Newington is part of the area we cover across London and South East England. Newington is one of the places in Kent where we work for drone roof surveys. Our Maidstone page covers surveys nearby.

Common questions in Newington
Do you cover smaller places like Newington?
Yes, Newington is on our map. Villages and rural addresses get the same survey as a town house.
Is my home in Newington listed or in a conservation area?
Check Historic England’s online list first, then ask the council about conservation areas and any Article 4 direction. It matters most if you are planning to re-roof in a different material.
Is a drone roof survey a thermal survey?
No, the drone survey is photographic. For thermal imaging, look at the Premium Survey or our thermal roof survey, and its findings are checked with moisture readings.
What happens if the weather is bad?
The flight waits for better weather. Wind and heavy rain are the two things that ground a small drone, so a new date is agreed with you, or look from other safe viewpoints if you’d rather.
Will you go up on the roof?
Not always. Safety comes first, and fragile or steep roofs can’t always be walked on. Safe viewpoints, the loft and a drone where it applies let us see the rest.
When does the report arrive?
Report times are set by the package. Basic: within 48 hours. Standard: 24 to 48 hours. Premium: the same day. Mention any deadline when you book.
Is it a structural engineer’s report?
No. We are roof surveyors, not structural engineers, and it doesn’t include calculations. If we see signs that need an engineer’s opinion, we will recommend one.
How it works
The visit typically starts outside and finishes in the loft: first the slopes, edges and gutters from every safe viewpoint, then the roof space where it can be reached. In total, it takes about 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Homes around Newington often have gardens on more than one side, which gives us room to step back and see the roof. Let us know if any side is fenced off or hard to reach. Inside, the loft is looked at where it can be reached safely.
- We start by checking the airspace and any restrictions at your address.
- We arrange any permission that’s needed before we fly.
- On the day, we check the weather and the site before flying.
- We fly the drone close to the roof to photograph it in detail, always in sight.
- Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos and recommendations.
Before the survey
- Dig out any old roof reports or invoices
- Let us know about parking near the property
- Check we can get to the back of the property

Advice
What affects the price in Newington
Our packages start from £150, including VAT. The price for your roof depends on:
- The size of the roof
- The use of thermal imaging or a drone
- The type of building, from a house to a block or an office
- The height of the building and how the roof can be seen safely
To find out what your survey will cost, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the address and a few details. The price is agreed before a date is set.
Booking your survey
There is no need for technical words. It is enough to tell us:
- Any photos you have, taken from ground level or a window
- The property’s address and postcode
- What kind of property and roof it is
- Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
Getting a price is simple: just call 07833 053749 or drop us an email, let us know about the property and we will recommend the right survey. We confirm the price before anything is booked.
For landlords and managing agents
We also survey roofs for businesses and commercial landlords, from shops and offices to industrial units. Bigger roofs take more time, so they’re priced to suit.
Letting agents often book on a landlord’s behalf. We agree a time with the tenant beforehand.
Practical tips
A few practical points come up again and again on our surveys. They’re worth knowing whatever the roof:
- Clear the loft hatch so we can check inside too
- A word with neighbours beforehand helps
- Allow time for permission if you’re in a flight restriction zone
- Keep pets indoors during the flight
The report gives any roofer you ask to quote a clear brief. They’ll see exactly where each defect is, so their quotes cover the same ground.
Every so frequently, look in the loft space with a torch, keeping to boarded areas. A drone sees the outside, but the loft shows leaks and condensation from below. Photograph anything new.
Signs you need a drone roof survey in Newington
Height and steep pitches make close inspection risky. Tall townhouses, blocks of flats and offices are typical. We fly from the ground and bring the camera close to the roof.
It is worth booking a survey if you’ve seen:
- Cracked mortar along the ridge
- Cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below
- Ponding and splits on a high flat roof
- Hidden gutters full of leaves
If you look after a building such as Newington Church of England Primary School, thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof.
