Drone roof survey in Stonestreet Green
We fly a sub-250g drone, and we’re a CAA-registered drone operator, with a Flyer ID and an Operator ID. It stays within sight for the whole flight, and well below the 120-metre height limit. Every flight is planned around the roof, the site and the people nearby. Airspace and weather are checked before every flight. Safety comes first on every visit. We survey chimney stacks, valleys and parapet gutters and large and complex roofs, and the problems we’re asked to look at most are standing water on a flat roof and worn lead at chimneys and walls.
In a small place like Stonestreet Green, open ground can mean strong wind. Strong wind or heavy rain stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.
If any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely, we say so in the report. You will know exactly what was inspected and what wasn’t, and what we’d suggest next.

Leave it or get it looked at?
From the ground, you are guessing about most of a tall roof. Close-up photos show what’s really there. It’s far easier to plan work when you can see the problem. Older and listed buildings around Stonestreet Green may need consent and matching materials for repairs, so a defect found early gives time to plan the work properly.
A small, low roof with good viewpoints takes less time than a tall, complicated one, and the package you pick makes a difference too. We will give you the figure before anything is booked.

What a drone roof survey looks like in Stonestreet Green
The wider area around Stonestreet Green has a long history of building, with Westenhanger Castle about 3.7 miles east. If your home is one of the older ones, expect a mix of original materials and later repairs on the roof, and any change of roofing material on a listed home needs checking with the council first. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions.
For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Martin, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that is where a view from the air or with a thermal camera helps. If you look after a building such as Aldington Primary School, big roofs are where photos from the air and thermal images show the most at once.

FAQs for Stonestreet Green
Is my home in Stonestreet Green listed or in a conservation area?
Your council is the best source, with Historic England’s list for listed buildings. Both listing and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.
Can you fly a drone over a roof in Stonestreet Green?
The answer turns on the exact location and the conditions on the day. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. A small drone cannot fly safely in high wind or heavy rain.
How many surveys have you done?
We have completed more than 5,000 surveys, over more than 20 years, and 98% of clients are satisfied.
Will you go up on the roof?
Only when it’s safe. Most of what we need can be seen from safe viewpoints, the loft and, where applicable, a drone, and anything out of sight is recorded in the report.
How long is the visit?
It normally takes between one and two hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. You’ll then get the report by email.
Can you give me structural calculations?
No. Our survey is not a structural engineer’s report. We’ll recommend an engineer if we see signs that call for one.
How much does a drone roof survey cost in Stonestreet Green?
Prices start from £400, including VAT. Our Basic Survey starts from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, all including VAT.
The survey, step by step
We photograph the roof as we go, so the report shows exactly what we saw. Close-ups come from the safest viewpoint available, including by drone where it’s applicable and the weather allows. A typical visit takes between one and two hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. In a hamlet or village like Stonestreet Green, a postcode doesn’t always lead to the right gate, so a few directions, or a note of a nearby landmark, help us arrive on time. After that, the survey runs as it would anywhere.
- You give us the address and tell us about the roof.
- We check the airspace and seek any permission needed.
- We assess the conditions and the take-off spot first.
- We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
- We email the report with close-up photos and recommendations.
Before we arrive
- For flats, check roof access has been agreed
- Gather any invoices or paperwork from past roof work
- Let us know about parking near the property
How to book

Different roofs, different checks
Ridges and hips
Ridges and hips are the most exposed parts of a pitched roof. A drone shows cracked mortar and loose ridge tiles.
Steep slate and tile slopes
On slate roofs, slipped slates often point to corroded nails. Close-up photos show how widespread it is.
Signs you need a drone roof survey in Stonestreet Green
Many roofs are never seen properly from ground level. Rear slopes, valleys and the tops of chimneys are hidden. Faults there can go unnoticed for years, which is why owners turn to a drone.
Problems we come across frequently include:
- Cracked mortar along the ridge
- Lifted or split lead flashings
- Flat roofs on upper floors that hold water
- Gaps where slates or tiles have gone
If you look after a shop, office or commercial unit, for instance near Ashford Designer Outlet, a commercial roof can be photographed from above without anyone walking on it.

- Whether the inside of the roof is included
Should I look at the roof myself first?
A lot can be seen from the ground. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Never climb onto the roof to look.
Fresh stains on ceilings or walls after rain are worth noting. Photograph them and note the date, as it helps a surveyor trace the cause.
