Independent drone roof surveys in Aldington

Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Aldington

Our price is from £400, including VAT. The Premium Survey includes a drone inspection where it applies, along with structural analysis, a same-day report and an in-person consultation. It also includes a follow-up after 12 months. We will tell you if a drone isn’t the right tool for your roof. Every drone survey comes with a written report and close-up photographs. We survey large and complex roofs, chimney stacks and flat roofs on upper floors, and common reasons people get in touch are coverings that have slipped high up on the roof and slates or tiles shifted by high winds.

Some older homes in villages like Aldington are listed or in a conservation area. A look from the air or with a thermal camera does not touch the roof, so it’s a gentle way to see the condition of an old roof. Check with the council before planning any work on a listed building or one in a conservation area.

Every survey ends with a written report, with photos, emailed to you. It sets out the condition of the roof, any defects and our written recommendations.

Landlord and commercial surveys in Aldington

Letting agents frequently book on a landlord’s behalf. We agree a time with the tenant beforehand.

Roof problems in a rented home affect tenants as well as the building. A survey helps you spot issues early and plan the work with less disruption.

Practical tips

A survey works best with a little help from you, before and after. Tips:

  • Tell us the exact address as you book
  • Move stored items away from the hatch
  • Expect a little longer if permission is needed
  • Expect us to rearrange if it is too windy or wet

The report gives any roofer you ask to quote a clear brief. The photos show the location and extent of every problem, so their quotes cover the same ground.

After a storm, check from the garden and the street. Debris in the garden is a sign to act on. A drone can show exactly what has moved.

What we look for on each type of roof

Chimney stacks

Our drone check of a chimney is visual, not a flue, gas or sweep inspection. If the flue needs a specialist, we’ll tell you.

Large commercial roofs

Older cement sheet roofs may contain asbestos. We flag it in the report and recommend a specialist asbestos surveyor.

Aldington questions

Is drone flying allowed in Aldington?

The answer turns on the exact location and the conditions on the day. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain.

Does a conservation area affect roof work in Aldington?

Your council is the best source, with Historic England’s list for listed buildings. A change of roofing material may need consent in either case, and councils can also use Article 4 directions.

Do you carry professional indemnity insurance?

Our surveys are covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance. Ask if you need details for a managing agent or building owner.

Do you need to get into the loft?

If it’s needed and safe to reach, yes. Inside, we look for damp, staining, gaps and sagging.

Can you survey in bad weather?

It depends on the weather and the survey. High wind or heavy rain can make access unsafe and ground a drone, so we’d move the date with you.

How long will you be at the property?

It usually takes between one and two hours on an ordinary house, while a commercial roof takes nearer three to four hours. You will then get the report by email.

Will I get photos?

Yes, plenty. Each finding is shown in a picture where possible, so you can see what we mean.

Drone roof surveys in Aldington: local notes

Westenhanger Castle, about 3.9 miles east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Aldington. Older roofs in the wider area can hide decades of patch repairs, so the detail matters, and any change of roofing material on a listed home needs checking with the council first. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions.

If you live in an older home near Church of St Martin, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof frequently shows up clearly on a thermal image. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Aldington Primary School, a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit.

The survey, step by step

We’ll ask a few questions first, such as when any problem began and what work has been done before. The inspection then takes about 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. In a small place like Aldington, access is typically the main thing to plan. Mention any outbuildings, barns or garages you want included, and anything about the roof you already know. Weekday and weekend visits are available.

  1. We confirm whether a drone suits your roof.
  2. A date is fixed, with a fallback in case the weather turns.
  3. The roof is photographed from the air, with the camera kept on your property.
  4. If the loft can be reached safely, it’s checked too.
  5. Everything is written up, with the aerial photos and our advice.

What a survey costs

Prices always include VAT. What changes the price is:

  • The roof’s overall size
  • The number of roofs, including extensions and garages
  • Features like valleys, chimneys, dormers and parapets
  • Height and safe access

A Basic Survey starts from £150, inc. VAT. The Standard Survey starts from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400. We confirm the price for your roof before you book.

Booking your survey

If you can, have these to hand when you get in touch:

  • Any stains, drips or damp patches you’ve seen indoors
  • The reason for the survey, such as buying, a leak or storm damage
  • Pictures of the roof from a safe spot, if you have them
  • Access details, like a loft hatch or a shared roof

Every survey is priced before it is booked, so you know the cost up front. Prices start from £400, including VAT. For a price for your roof, phone 07833 053749 or email us.

Should I look at the roof myself first?

Inside, the loft is a good place to look, with care. Use a torch and stay on the joists or boards, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.

The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way, and falls from height are serious. That part is for a survey.
