Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Temple
From the air, the outer surfaces are clear, but it can’t see inside. We check the loft from inside where it is safe, since that is where leaks and condensation frequently show first. Inside and out together tell you far more. Your report shows the drone photos alongside what we saw in the loft. If there’s no safe loft access, the report says so. If you’ve noticed outlets choked with leaves and silt and standing water on a flat roof, a survey will tell you what’s going on, on chimney stacks, tall and steep roofs and flat roofs on upper floors alike.
Some older homes in villages like Temple are listed or in a conservation area. A look by drone or thermal camera doesn’t touch the roof, so it’s a gentle way to see the condition of an old roof. Changes that affect a listed building’s special interest need listed building consent, so check with the council first.
Where we can’t see part of the roof, the report says so. That way, it is clear what was covered and what wasn’t.

Temple questions
Is drone flying allowed in Temple?
That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. Strong wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.
Is Temple within the area you cover?
Yes, Temple is on our map. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one.
Do you carry professional indemnity insurance?
Our cover is professional indemnity plus public liability, and details are available on request.
Can you give me structural calculations?
No. Visible signs such as deflection or sagging are recorded, but we do not provide calculations or an engineer’s opinion. If one is needed, the report says so.
How do I book a survey in Temple?
Just ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the address. After a few questions, we confirm the price and fix a day, weekday or weekend.
Can you survey a shared roof?
Yes, as long as access is agreed. The roof of a block or converted house is often shared, so whoever owns or manages the building needs to agree access. We can only inspect what we are given access to.
Is this a RICS survey?
No. We’re experienced roof surveyors, and our survey covers the roof rather than the whole building. If you need a full building survey, you will need a RICS survey as well.
What a drone roof survey does not cover
This isn’t a RICS building survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. It also has these limits:
- Neighbouring roofs the owner hasn’t asked us to survey
- A structural engineer’s report
- The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
If you’re not sure which survey you need, ring 07833 053749 or email us and we will give you a straight answer. What our survey covers.
What this survey covers
- Large and complex roofs
- Fragile roofs
- Valleys and parapet gutters
- Tall and steep roofs
- Chimney stacks
- Flat roofs on upper floors
How the survey works
There isn’t much for you to do on the day. Show us any stains, drips or problem areas you know about, and we’ll get on with the inspection. The survey itself takes about one to two hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. For a village or hamlet like Temple, the journey is planned ahead of time: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. The roof is looked at from the ground, from windows, from the loft where there’s safe access and from the roof where it is safe.
- First, we check the address for flight restrictions.
- We arrange any permission that is needed before we fly.
- Before the flight, we check the conditions and the take-off spot.
- The drone captures close-up photos of the coverings, chimneys, valleys and gutters.
- You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.
How to prepare
- Let us know where we can park nearby
- Buyers: confirm access with the estate agent or seller
- Dig out any old roof reports or invoices

Checking the roof from ground level
After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: broken slates or tiles in the garden, gaps along the ridge or loose lead are signs to note. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.
After heavy rain, check ceilings and the tops of walls for new stains. Take a photo and write down when you saw it.
What a survey costs
All our prices include VAT. The things that change the price are:
- The type of building, from a house to a block or an office
- Height and safe access
- The use of thermal imaging or a drone
- The shape of the roof and its details
The Premium Survey includes thermal imaging and drone inspection where it applies, which starts from £400, with VAT included. We can help you choose the package that fits what you want to find out.
Helping us price your survey
These details help when you contact us:
- Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
- The style of property, from a terrace to a block
- Access details, such as a loft hatch or a shared roof
- What’s prompted the survey
If you’re buying, it helps to book soon after your offer is accepted, so you have the findings in time to act on them before you exchange. Otherwise, simply call 07833 053749 or drop us an email whenever suits you.
Roof by roof
Steep slate and tile slopes
Steep roofs are risky to walk on. A drone photographs them closely from a safe position.
Chimney stacks
Leaning stacks and loose pots are easier to judge from above. Each defect is photographed for the report.
Why get it checked now?
With drone photos, everyone can see the same thing. You can show exactly where the problem is. Outbuildings and barns around Temple are easy to forget, but a failed roof there can spoil what’s stored inside. A quick look before winter can save a lot.
There are three survey packages: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, all including VAT. The price for your roof depends on its size, access and what you need to know.

Flying and imaging in Temple
Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. With Harleyford Manor about 0.9 miles west, Temple sits in an area with a long building history. Older roofs in the wider area can hide decades of patch repairs, so the detail matters.
If you run a hotel or guest house in or near Temple, a roof problem can mean rooms out of use, so it pays to find faults before guests do. For an older house near a landmark like Church of All Saints, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that is where a view from above or with a thermal imager helps. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Bisham Church of England Academy, a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit.
