Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Udimore

Every flight starts with an airspace check. Near protected airports such as Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton, flight restriction zones mean permission is needed first. Central London has restricted areas of its own, which need NATS permission. If permission isn’t given, we inspect by other means and tell you. Prisons have their own drone restriction zones too. We survey chimney stacks, tall and steep roofs and large and complex roofs, and the problems we’re asked to look at most are loose ridge and hip tiles and tired mortar and pots at the top of a stack.

Some older homes in villages like Udimore are listed or in a conservation area. Neither a drone survey nor a thermal survey involves any work on the roof, which suits a building where any change needs care, before anyone decides what work it needs. Check with the council before planning any work on a listed building or one in a conservation area.

Every survey ends with a written report, with photographs, sent by email. It sets out the condition of the roof, any defects and our written recommendations.

What we do, step by step

We will ask a few questions first, such as when any problem began and what work has been done before. Then the inspection itself takes an hour or two at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Somewhere as small as Udimore, access is often the only tricky part. Let us know about outbuildings, past repairs and any leaks you’ve noticed. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays.

  1. First comes the address, plus a note of what worries you about the roof.
  2. Airspace restrictions are checked and permission sought where needed.
  3. We assess the conditions and the take-off spot first.
  4. Close-up photos are taken of each slope, chimney, valley and gutter, with the drone always in view.
  5. The findings, photos and recommendations reach you by email.

Getting ready for the survey

Advice

Drone roof surveys around Udimore

Udimore is within about 4 miles of the coast, and wind near the sea can be strong. The weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead, as a small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or a downpour. The drone we use is under 250g, flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID. Open category rules keep flights below 120 m (400 ft) and the drone within sight at all times.

If you live in an older home near The Parish Church of St Mary, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement. Lamb House, about 3.4 miles east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Udimore. Older roofs nearby can be steep and hard to see from ground level, and a survey by drone or thermal camera doesn’t touch the roof itself.

Udimore is about 6 miles north-east of Hastings, in East Sussex. We provide drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Udimore and the surrounding area. We cover towns and villages across East Sussex, large and small. There is also a page for Maidstone.

Why get it checked now?

How we price drone roof surveys

Prices vary from roof to roof, for these reasons:

  • Roof area
  • Basic, Standard or Premium
  • Whether it’s a home or a commercial building
  • Chimneys, valleys, parapets and other details

Our price is from £400, including VAT. What you pay depends on the size and height of the roof, access and which survey you book.

What to let us know when you get in touch

A little information up front helps. Please include:

  • Pictures from the garden or a window, if you have them
  • What’s prompted the survey
  • Dates you’re working to, such as exchange
  • Anything about access we should know

Surveys can be booked for weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays. To arrange a day that suits you, ring 07833 053749 or email us.

When you need someone else

Our findings are based on what we can see safely on the day, so there are some things a survey cannot cover:

  • Whether the roof structure meets design loads
  • Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission
  • A flight on a day when the weather isn’t safe

If you’re not sure which survey you need, call 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer. The full list of what we check.

Your questions about drone roof surveys in Udimore

Is drone flying allowed in Udimore?

The answer turns on the exact location and the conditions on the day. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or a downpour.

Is Udimore within the area you cover?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We survey roofs across London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route as you book.

Will you photograph what you find?

Yes. We photograph the roof as we go, and they go into the written report.

How do I arrange a drone roof survey in Udimore?

Simply call 07833 053749 or drop us an email. We’ll ask a few questions, confirm the price and agree a date, weekday or weekend.

How long is the visit?

It usually takes roughly 1–2 hours at a typical home, or half a day or so for a commercial building. The written report follows by email, on the timescale of your package.

Can you survey in bad weather?

Light rain is typically fine; heavy rain and wind are different. Strong wind or a downpour can make access unsafe and ground a drone, and we’d agree another day.

Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?

Yes, as long as access is agreed. The roof of a block or converted house is often shared, so the freeholder or managing agent needs to agree access. We inspect only the parts we are allowed to reach.
