Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in West Wycombe
Drone roof surveys are available in West Wycombe and throughout London and South East England, where the airspace and the weather allow. Flights take place on weekdays and at weekends. We check the airspace for your address before booking a flight. The report includes the drone photos and our recommendations. To check whether your roof suits a drone survey, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email. Common reasons to book are worn lead at chimneys and walls and cracked mortar along the ridge, across tall and steep roofs, flat roofs on upper floors and fragile roofs.
Somewhere as small as West Wycombe, older roofs are often steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what cannot be reached safely. Weather and airspace are looked at before the visit, and the journey is planned in advance. Older roofs with steep slopes and tall chimneys are where the extra view helps most.
Most points in the report come with a picture, so you can see each defect rather than just read about it. Anything out of sight on the day is listed as such.

How it works
Time on site depends on the size and shape of the roof, but as a rough guide the survey takes roughly 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. If you have questions on the day, just ask. Rural addresses near West Wycombe can be hard to find from a postcode alone, so a few directions, or a note of a nearby landmark, help us arrive on time. After that, the survey runs as it would anywhere.
- We start by making sure a drone flight makes sense for the roof.
- A date is fixed, with a fallback in case the weather turns.
- We fly over the roof, keeping the camera on the property we are surveying.
- If the loft can be reached safely, it is checked too.
- You get photos, findings and clear recommendations.
How to prepare
- Check the loft hatch can be reached
- Leave side gates unlocked
- Buyers: confirm access with the estate agent or seller

Leave it or get it looked at?
Faults on high roofs tend to be found late. By that stage the damage has spread inside. Looking from above picks up the early signs. Older cottages and farmhouses around West Wycombe can have roof timbers that have been there a very long time, and water through a failed covering can rot timber if it’s left.
There are three survey packages: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, all inc. VAT. What your roof costs depends on its size, access and what you want to find out.

West Wycombe: your questions answered
Is drone flying allowed in West Wycombe?
Usually it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. West Wycombe is about 3 miles from Wycombe Air Park, so the Drone Safety Map is checked for restrictions around it before we fly. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.
Is West Wycombe within the area you cover?
Yes, we do. We survey roofs across London and South East England, from towns to the smallest villages. The journey is planned ahead, so it’s useful to know about access.
What if it rains on the day?
It can, depending on the survey. Drones cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best after a sunny day, with a dry roof and little wind. If the conditions are not right, we will talk to you about another date.
Do you look in the loft space?
If there’s a loft and safe access to it, yes. The roof space can show things the outside can’t, like damp timbers, staining or daylight.
How much does a drone roof survey cost in West Wycombe?
Prices start from £400, including VAT. Our Basic Survey starts from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, all inc. VAT.
Are you insured?
We are covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance, for every survey we carry out.
How many surveys have you done?
Over 20 years and more than 5,000 surveys, across London and South East England.
Should I look at the roof myself first?
The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way, and a fall can be serious. That part is for a survey.
Your own check is a good start, but it is not a survey. You won’t see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from ground level, and those are details a survey looks at closely.
Common roof problems in West Wycombe
Large roofs take a long time to see on foot. The drone covers the surface area by area. That gives a clearer picture of the roof as a whole.
People usually book a survey after spotting something like this:
- Blistered or cracked flat roof coverings
- Debris building up in hidden gutters
- Cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below
- Storm damage on steep or tall roofs
If you run a business near Eden, a commercial roof can be photographed from above without anyone walking on it.
What to check before booking
- Their track record with similar roofs
- How they’ll see the roof: from ground level, the loft, the roof or by drone
- How long the report takes to arrive
- Whether the loft space is looked at, where there is one

With West Wycombe Park House about 0.3 miles south, West Wycombe sits in an area with a long building history. Older homes in the wider area often have features worth a closer look, like lead valleys, tall stacks and roofs that have been patched over the years, and a listed home or one in a conservation area may need consent for changes of material.
The streets around a church such as Congregational Church are often among the oldest in a place, and if yours is one of the older homes nearby, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help. If you look after a building such as West Wycombe Combined School, big roofs are where close-up aerial shots and thermal images show the most at once.

What affects the cost of drone roof surveys
Prices vary from roof to roof, for these reasons:
- Commercial roofs and larger buildings
- The package you choose: Basic, Standard or Premium
- The roof’s overall size
- The use of thermal imaging or a drone
Larger roofs, taller buildings and commercial roofs take longer, so the price reflects that. The price is confirmed before booking.
Booking your survey
We will typically ask about:
- Whether there’s a loft hatch, a shared roof or tricky access
- What made you get in touch
- Where water is showing inside, if it is
- Pictures from the garden or a window, if you have them
Our price is from £400, including VAT. The exact figure depends on the roof and the package, so ring 07833 053749 or send us an email with the details.
