Drone roof surveys in Wheeler End

About our drone roof survey in Wheeler End

Some roofs are hard or unsafe to reach. A drone takes close-up photographs of those roofs from the air. It shows coverings, ridges, chimneys, valleys and gutters clearly. The photos go into a written report. It’s also a good option where walking on the roof could break slates or tiles. Where a flight is not possible, we explain why. Typical surveys look at cracked flaunching or loose chimney pots and gaps where slates or tiles have gone, across fragile roofs, flat roofs on upper floors and valleys and parapet gutters.

Older buildings in small places like Wheeler End may be listed or in a conservation area. A look from the air or with a thermal camera doesn’t touch the roof, so it is a gentle way to see the condition of an old roof, before anyone decides what work it needs. Changes that affect a listed building’s special interest need listed building consent, so check with the council first.

What you get is a clear record of the roof on the day we saw it. It’s useful straight away, and a good reference for later, such as when you want to compare after future work.

What we can’t see

Our findings are based on what we can see safely on the day, so some things are outside what a survey can do:

  • Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission
  • The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
  • A flight on a day when the weather is not safe

If you are not sure which survey you need, phone 07833 053749 or email us and we will give you a straight answer. What a survey covers and does not.

What this survey covers

  • Fragile roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Chimney stacks

The survey, step by step

Where it is relevant and can be reached safely, the loft space is checked as well as the outside. Inside, we look for staining, damp, gaps and signs of movement. The whole visit usually takes roughly 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. In a hamlet or village like Wheeler End, a postcode does not always lead to the right gate, so a few directions are welcome. After that, the survey runs as it would anywhere.

  1. First, we check whether a drone is the right tool.
  2. We agree a date, including weekends, subject to the weather.
  3. Aerial photos are taken of your roof only, not the neighbours’.
  4. Where there’s safe access, we check the loft as well.
  5. The report sets out what we found, with photos and recommendations.

Preparing for the visit

  • Clear the way to the loft hatch
  • For a flat or shared roof, check access with the freeholder or managing agent
  • Make sure pets are kept safely away

Roof by roof

Chimney stacks

From the air, a lean or a loose pot is easy to see. Each defect is photographed for the report.

Steep slate and tile slopes

Old slates and clay tiles can crack underfoot. The drone sees them without touching them.

Signs you need a drone roof survey in Wheeler End

From the pavement, most of a tall roof is out of sight. Rear slopes, valleys and the tops of chimneys are hidden. Problems in those places frequently go unseen until they leak.

We’re often asked to look at:

  • Eroded pointing on a chimney stack
  • Flat roofs on upper floors that hold water
  • Storm damage on steep or tall roofs
  • Outlets choked with leaves and silt

If your house is among the older ones in the streets near Church of the Holy Trinity, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.

Wheeler End: your questions answered

Can you fly a drone over a roof in Wheeler End?

Normally it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Wheeler End is about 2 miles from Wycombe Air Park, so the Drone Safety Map is checked for restrictions around it before we fly. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.

Do you cover smaller places like Wheeler End?

Yes, we do. We survey roofs across London and the South East, from towns to the smallest villages. Longer journeys are simply planned ahead of time.

Will I get photos?

Yes. We photograph the roof as we go, and they go into the written report alongside our recommendations.

What do I do with the report?

The report arrives by email. The Standard Survey includes a follow-up consultation, and the Premium Survey an in-person consultation.

How much does a drone roof survey cost in Wheeler End?

Prices start from £400, including VAT. You’ll know the price for your roof before booking, based on the roof’s size, access and package. To get a price, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form.

Basic reports arrive within 48 hours, Standard reports in 24–48 hours and Premium reports on the same day. All of them come by email, ready to forward.

Does the weather affect the survey?
