Drone roof survey in Woosehill

Our drone weighs under 250g, and we’re a CAA-registered drone operator, with a Flyer ID and an Operator ID. We keep it in sight throughout, and well below the 120-metre height limit. Every flight is planned around the roof, the site and the people nearby. Airspace and weather are checked before every flight. Safety comes first on every visit. Typical surveys look at vegetation in valleys and gutters and eroded pointing on a chimney stack, on fragile roofs, chimney stacks and large and complex roofs.

Older cottages and houses around Woosehill may have little insulation, and some have extensions with their own roofs. Thermal patterns and close-up photos together give a fuller picture of the roof. Anything that looks like moisture is checked with a meter. Results depend on the weather, so the visit is planned around the forecast.

The report is written in plain words, so you don’t need to be a roofer to follow it. Each point is backed by a photograph where possible.

Drones, thermal imaging and Woosehill roofs

We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight. Listing and conservation areas can both shape what roof work is allowed on an older home. Your council and Historic England’s list will tell you where you stand.

For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Windmill Primary School, big roofs are where photos from the air and thermal images show the most at once.

DIY checks: what’s safe

Fresh stains on ceilings or walls after rain are worth noting. Take a photo and write down when you saw it.

Your own check is a good start, but it is not a survey. You will not see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from the ground, and those are details a survey looks at closely.

What a survey costs

We confirm the price for the job before booking. These are the things that affect it:

  • Extensions, dormers and garages with roofs of their own
  • How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
  • Roof area
  • The use of thermal imaging or a drone

What a survey costs comes down to the roof itself: how big it is, how high it is, the number of separate roofs and how it can be reached and seen safely. Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT.

Getting in touch

When you call or email, these details help:

  • What kind of property and roof it is
  • When you need the report by
  • Any stains, drips or damp patches you’ve seen indoors
  • The address and postcode of the property

Buyers should book once an offer has been accepted, so you have the findings in time to act on them before you exchange. For any other survey, just phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email when you’re ready.

Different roofs, different checks

Large commercial roofs

Big roofs on offices, warehouses and units take time to inspect. The drone covers the roof area by area, so nothing is skipped.

Flat roofs on tall buildings

Flat roofs on tall buildings are frequently seen by nobody. From above, standing water, splits and tired upstands are clear.

Your questions about drone roof surveys in Woosehill

Does a conservation area affect roof work in Woosehill?

We can’t confirm that for you, but Historic England’s list and your council can. Both listing and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.

Is drone flying allowed in Woosehill?

The answer turns on the exact location and the conditions on the day. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.

What does the report include?

You get our findings in writing, part by part, with photos, and ends with what we recommend. The most urgent items are made clear.

What if it rains on the day?

It depends on the weather and the survey. In strong wind or a downpour, a drone can’t fly and access may not be safe, and we’d agree another day.

What happens after the survey?

You’ll get the report by email, with photos and clear recommendations. The Standard Survey includes a follow-up consultation, and the Premium Survey an in-person consultation.

Which days do you carry out surveys?

Visits run seven days a week in the daytime. Just say which days work for you.

How many surveys have you done?

We have been surveying roofs for over 20 years and have carried out more than 5,000 surveys across London and South East England.

What we do, step by step

When we arrive, we begin with a quick chat about the roof and anything that’s worrying you. We then inspect everything that can safely be seen. Most surveys take about 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. In a smaller place like Woosehill, as anywhere, the forecast plays a part: drone flights and thermal imaging need the right conditions, while a look from ground level and the loft can go ahead in most weather.

  1. First comes the address, plus a note of what worries you about the roof.
  2. We check the airspace and seek any permission needed.
  3. On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
  4. We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
  5. You receive a written report with the photos and our recommendations.

How to prepare

  • For a flat or shared roof, check access with the building owner or managing agent
  • Keep pets out of the way during the survey
  • Find any records of previous roof work

What we’re asked to look at in Woosehill

Parapet gutters, box gutters and central valleys sit out of sight. Leaves, silt and plant growth build up unseen, until it causes a leak inside. A drone shows them clearly from above.

It is worth booking a survey if you’ve seen:

  • Ponding and splits on a high flat roof
  • Cracked mortar along the ridge
  • Lead work pulling away at abutments
  • Chimney tops in poor condition

For an older house near a landmark like Woosehill Community Church, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from the ground, and that is where a view from above or with a thermal imager helps.

  • Whether the loft is part of the inspection

What a good roof survey covers

Tips that help

A survey works best with a little help from you, before and after. Tips:

  • Make sure there is room outside for the drone to take off
  • Tell next door if the drone will be near their property
  • Keep dogs indoors during the visit
  • Mention anything you’ve noticed on the roof

The Premium Survey report comes the same day. It includes the drone photos where a flight was possible, alongside the other checks in the package.

Have high or hard-to-reach roofs surveyed every few years. Regular photos make changes easy to spot, and early repairs keep water out.
