Tidworth Gutter Survey
Need a gutter survey in Tidworth? We can help, with findings in writing and pictures to back them up. Book a weekday or weekend visit.
- Joints that drip after rain
- Brackets that have dropped or snapped
- Overflowing eaves gutters
Before and after the survey
These tips come from what we see on roofs every week, before and after a survey:
- Get trees that overhang the gutters trimmed
- Have gutters cleared at least once a year
- Ask for valleys and parapet gutters to be cleared too
- Check the loft with care after heavy rain
The report comes with photos and clear written recommendations. You can pass it to whoever you choose to do the work so they can see exactly what’s needed.
Get small faults like a dripping joint or loose downpipe sorted quickly. They tend to get worse and spilled water harms brickwork and woodwork.
Gutter survey in Tidworth
Gutters have to slope gently towards the outlet to drain properly. Sagging brackets and slipped joints leave water standing and overflowing at the low points. We look along each run for sags, gaps and leaking joints, along with the brackets and downpipe fixings. You get written recommendations, prioritised by urgency where relevant. If you’ve noticed soffits marked by water and gutters packed with leaves or moss, a survey will tell you what’s going on, whatever the roof.
Around Tidworth, gardens, hedges and nearby trees can mean leaves and moss end up on roofs and in gutters. Once gutters and outlets block, water spills over and soaks the walls. It is the kind of slow problem a roof report picks up early. Moss on the roof and weeds in the gutter are both easy to spot from the ground.
The written findings come by email, ready to forward to whoever needs them. Basic reports come within 48 hours, Standard within 24–48 hours and Premium on the day.

Signs you need a gutter survey in Tidworth
Lots of tiled and slate roofs carry moss, and rain washes it down into the gutters. With grit from the coverings, it forms a thick sludge that slows the flow and lets weeds take root.
Common reasons to book include:
- Overflowing valley or parapet gutters
- Leaks at the gutter joints
- Soffits marked by water
- Sagging gutters and loose brackets
If you own one of the older houses in the streets near Church of the Holy Trinity, old fixings, lead flashings and tall chimneys are typical of older roofs.
Choosing a roof surveyor
- Whether the inside of the roof is included
- How they’ll see the roof: from ground level, the loft, the roof or by drone
- Their drone registration, if they fly one
- Their report turnaround times
What affects the cost of gutter surveys
A few things affect what a survey costs:
- Any need for thermal images or a drone flight
- How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
- Extra roofs, like extensions, dormers or garages
- The package you choose: Basic, Standard or Premium
One thing that affects the price is the package: from £150 for Basic, £250 for Standard and £400 for Premium, including VAT. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.
What we need to know
These details help when you get in touch:
- Your postcode, so we can check access and travel
- Access details, such as a loft hatch or a shared roof
- What made you get in touch
- The type of building and roof, like pitched or flat
Unsure which package suits your roof? It is easiest to call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and describe the roof and what’s worrying you. We’ll explain the options and the price.
Gutter surveys around Tidworth
Thatch survives on some older buildings in Hampshire’s villages. Slate and clay tile are the usual coverings on older South East houses, with concrete tiles on many later estates. Each of these coverings has its own weak points, from fixings and valleys to flashings, chimneys and gutters. England has around 10,000 conservation areas and about 500,000 listed buildings. Listed building consent is needed for changes that affect a listed building’s special interest, and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material, so check with the council.
For site and facilities teams at buildings like The Wellington Academy, a written record of a large roof helps plan work for the holidays rather than in term time.

What happens on the day
The aim of the visit is simple: to look at the gutter as closely as is safe and record what we find. Notes and photos go into the written report. The visit normally takes about 1–2 hours for a house, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. A visit to a smaller place like Tidworth is no different on the day: we look from the ground, from windows, from the loft and from the roof where it is safe. Point out any stains, cracks or loose pieces you’ve spotted.
- We start with what you’ve noticed, such as damp or overflowing gutters.
- We walk round the building and check the gutters, downpipes and fascias from the ground.
- We look at hidden gutters as far as safe access allows.
- The loft space is checked for staining, where it can be reached safely.
- A written report with photographs and recommendations follows.
Before the survey
- Point out any leaks or damp patches
- If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building
- Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed

Advice
Questions from Tidworth
Is my home in Tidworth listed or in a conservation area?
We can’t confirm that for you, but Historic England’s list and your council can. Both listing and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material, and councils can also use Article 4 directions.
Is Tidworth within the area you cover?
Yes, we do. Our area covers London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned beforehand.
Do you use drones?
Where it helps and the rules allow, yes. We hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID and fly a drone under 250g, and the airspace and weather are checked before every flight.
Can the survey be at a weekend?
Yes, we carry out surveys on Saturdays and Sundays as well as weekdays. Just ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email to arrange it.
Are hidden gutters like valleys and box gutters included?
Yes. These gutters often cause leaks indoors when they block, so they’re an important part of the survey. Some may only be partly visible, and the report says so.
Will I get photos?
Yes. The report includes photographs of what we found, so you can see exactly what each finding refers to.
I live in a flat. Can you survey the roof?
Yes. Shared roofs just need a little more planning. Let us know about it as you book and we’ll explain what’s needed.
DIY checks: what’s safe
If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.
A lot can be seen from the ground. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Never climb onto the roof to look.
What we can’t see
Our survey is not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. Other limits to bear in mind:
- Damage hidden inside walls or behind boards
- Blockages deep inside downpipes
- Hidden sections we can’t view safely
