New Roof Snagging in Tyringham

- Underlay not dressed into the gutter
- Signs of condensation in the loft space
New roof snagging in Tyringham: what you get
Ventilation matters on a new roof. Where vents have been fitted at the ridge or eaves, we check them and look in the roof space for condensation. What we see goes in the report. Missing or blocked ventilation can lead to condensation over time, which is easier to put right while the roofer is still involved. We record what we see. Common reasons to book are underlay ending short at the eaves and debris left in gutters or valleys, on flashings and valleys, loft conversions and dormers and new-build homes.
Being in a small place like Tyringham makes no difference to the inspection itself: it just means planning the journey and access beforehand. Mention any outbuildings, barns or garages with roofs you’d like looked at when you book, so the visit can be planned around them. Buyers and owners of new roofs get the same approach as anywhere. Weekday and weekend visits are both available.
How fast the report arrives depends on the package: the Basic Survey within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey on the same day.

The survey, step by step
We photograph the roof as we go, so the report shows exactly what we saw. We take close-ups from wherever is safe, including by drone where it’s applicable and the weather allows. A typical visit takes an hour or two on an ordinary house, and about three to four hours for a commercial roof. Somewhere like Tyringham needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. On the day, we inspect what can safely be seen, inside and out.
- First, you tell us what the roofer did and any concerns you have.
- We look at the tiles or slates, ridges, hips and verges from safe vantage points.
- Valleys, flashings, gutters and the underlay at the eaves are looked at.
- Where it’s safe, we check the loft, then look for debris or damage left behind.
- The snags are written up with photos for you to share with your roofer.
How to prepare
- Dig out any old roof reports or invoices
- Move anything stored under the loft hatch
- Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors

Related advice
Can I check my roof myself?
A lot can be seen from the ground. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Please don’t climb up for a closer look.
A DIY look is useful, but it isn’t a survey. From the ground, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are frequently out of sight, and those are details a survey looks at closely.

Tyringham questions
Will you come out to Tyringham?
Yes, Tyringham is covered. We cover the whole of London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned beforehand.
Is Tyringham in the area you cover?
Yes. We cover the whole of London and South East England, and Tyringham is part of that. Just phone 07833 053749 or send us an email and let us know about the property, and we’ll talk through which survey suits.
Can you survey in bad weather?
Light rain does not usually stop a survey. Heavy rain or strong wind can ground a drone and make the roof unsafe, so if conditions aren’t right we will arrange another day with you.
How long have you been surveying roofs?
We have more than 20 years’ experience and have completed over 5,000 surveys across London and South East England.
How much is new roof snagging?
The Basic Survey starts from £150, the Standard from £250 and the Premium from £400, all with VAT included. Just call 07833 053749 or use the contact form for a price.
Do you use drones?
Yes, where it is applicable. Whether we can fly on the day depends on the weather and the airspace rules. We hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID.
Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?
Yes. Shared roofs just need a little more planning. Tell us about it when you book and we will explain what’s needed.
New roof snagging in Tyringham: local notes
Slate and clay tile are the usual coverings on older South East houses, with concrete tiles on many later estates, and flat-roofed additions turn up almost everywhere. Each material has its own typical faults, which is what a buyer or the owner of a new roof needs to know about. Historic houses like Linford Manor, about 3 miles south, show how far back building in the area around Tyringham goes. Older homes in the wider area often have features worth a closer look, such as lead valleys, tall stacks and roofs that have been patched over the years.
Take an older house close to Church of St Peter: a survey will show how the roof has been repaired before, which helps you judge what’s coming. For landlords with property near Wolverton station, a roof report gives you a clear picture before you buy or settle up with a roofer.

Some things can’t be seen without opening up the roof, and that sets some limits:
- How the roof will perform for years to come
- Repair costs for putting snags right
- Details hidden from sight

What a survey costs
To price your survey, we check:
- Height and safe access

- The use of thermal imaging or a drone
- House, block, shop or office
Bigger, taller and commercial roofs take more time to survey, so they’re priced to match. The price is confirmed before booking.
Getting in touch
A little information up front helps. Please include:
- What made you get in touch
- Anything about access we should know
- What kind of property and roof it is
- Your timetable, such as an exchange date
Buyers should book once an offer has been accepted, so there is time to use the report before exchange. Otherwise, simply phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email whenever suits you.
Tips from our surveys
Most of what helps is simple and safe from the ground. A few suggestions:
- Check before your warranty period ends
- Look for marks or cracks left by the work
- File all paperwork for the new roof
- Check the roof before you pay in full
The report lists each snag with photos and recommendations, prioritised by urgency where relevant. Pass it on to your roofer or builder.
Watch for leaks, damp or loose pieces in the first months. Early signs are easier to raise while the work is recent.
