How new roof snagging works in Windlesham
Ideally, book snagging before you settle the final invoice, while the roofer is still on hand. If you’ve already paid, check before any defects or warranty period runs out. That leaves time to raise what we find. Our report gives you a clear, photographed list of snags to send to your roofer in good time. If you are worried about tiles or slates sitting out of line and gutters blocked by building debris, we can find out what’s behind it.
Smaller places like Windlesham often have bungalows and cottages as well as houses, many of them extended or given dormers over the years. Low roofs are easier to see from the ground, but dormer cheeks, valleys and flat-roofed additions still need close attention. The same goes for a purchase or a new roof around Windlesham. Lead around a dormer and the edges of a flat roof are common places for snags and wear alike.
The written findings come by email, ready to forward to whoever needs them. Basic reports come within 48 hours, Standard within 24–48 hours and Premium on the day.

What this survey cannot tell you
No survey can tell you everything, and it is better to know them up front. Keep these in mind:
- Deciding who is at fault in a disagreement
- How the roof will perform for years to come
- Estimates of what fixes will cost
If you are not sure which survey you need, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer. What our survey covers.
Roofs we survey in Windlesham
- New flat roofs
- New-build homes
- Ridges and verges
- Loft conversions and dormers
- Replacement roofs
- Flashings and valleys
How the survey works
On the day, we start by asking what you’ve noticed and what you need to know. After that, we check everything we can see safely, from the ground, from windows, in the loft space and by drone where it applies. Most surveys take between one and two hours for most homes, depending on how much new work there is to check. A visit to a smaller place like Windlesham is no different on the day: we look from ground level, from windows, from the loft and from the roof where it is safe. It is useful to show us anything you’ve already noticed.
- You tell us what work was done and when.
- We check the coverings, ridges, hips and verges from safe vantage points.
- Valleys, flashings, gutters and visible underlay at the eaves are looked at.
- We check the loft where safe and look for debris or damage.
- Snags are listed in a report with photographs.
Getting ready for the survey
- Find any records of previous roof work
- Jot down any questions you want answered
- Unlock side gates and any roof access doors
Booking a survey
Booking is simple: just ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form and give us some details about the property and we will point you to the right survey. The price is agreed up front.
Advice
Common roof problems in Windlesham
Flashings at walls and chimneys often need attention. If they’re poorly dressed or fixed, water can get in sooner rather than later.
Things that often lead to a survey include:
- Broken coverings left on a new roof
- Verge tiles or slates not secured
- Ridge and hip tiles not properly fixed
- Flashings not properly dressed or fixed
For landlords with property near Bagshot station, the roof is worth checking before you add another property to a portfolio or pay a roofer in full.
Before you book any roof surveyor
- What experience they bring
- What’s outside the scope of the survey
- How they’ll see the roof: from ground level, the loft, the roof or by drone
- If they fly a drone, whether they hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID
Why act early in Windlesham
Small faults on a new roof can grow. A slipped verge tile or a loose flashing may let water through in the first heavy storms. Finding them early means they can be dealt with quickly. In a smaller place like Windlesham, wherever a roof is exposed, a loose ridge or flashing doesn’t stay loose for long. Wind gets under it and lifts more.
Prices start from £150, including VAT, for a Basic Survey. The Standard Survey starts from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, both with VAT included. We confirm the price for your roof before booking.

Windlesham questions
Will you come out to Windlesham?
Yes, Windlesham is covered. We cover the whole of London and South East England, from towns to the smallest villages. Longer journeys are simply planned beforehand.
Does a conservation area affect roof work in Windlesham?
Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.
Do you check new-build roofs?
Yes, the inspection works the same as for a re-roof. The report lists snags with photos for you to pass to your builder.
Do you survey on Saturdays and Sundays?
We survey on any day from Monday to Sunday, during the day, which suits people who work during the week. Just say which days work for you.
Will you check the loft?
If the survey needs it and the loft space can be reached safely, yes. Please clear anything stored under the hatch, and if the loft cannot be reached safely, the report says so.
Will you check every nail and clip?
No, we do not disturb the new coverings. Most fixings sit out of sight under the coverings, but we look at everything we can see safely.
What’s the best time to have a new roof checked?
As soon as the work is finished, and before the final payment if you can. That gives time for any snags to be put right.
What affects the cost of new roof snagging
Our packages start from £150, inc. VAT. The price for your roof depends on:
- Whether it is a home or a commercial building
- Basic, Standard or Premium
- The roof’s overall size
- How many separate roofs there are, such as extensions, dormers and garages
Every price we give includes VAT, and the report is not charged as an extra. Prices start from £150, including VAT. Size, height and access decide where your roof falls.
Helping us price your survey
Some details help us recommend the right survey and price. When you contact us, it helps to mention:
- The property’s address and postcode
- Where water is showing inside, if it is
- Photos of the roof, taken safely from ground level or a window
- When you need the report by
Every survey is priced before it is booked, so you know the cost up front. Prices start from £150, including VAT. To book, call 07833 053749 or email us.
Should I look at the roof myself first?
A DIY look is useful, but it isn’t a survey. You won’t see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from ground level, and those are details a survey looks at closely.
A lot can be seen from the ground. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Please do not climb up for a closer look.
New roof snagging around Windlesham
Handmade clay tiles and tile-hung walls are typical of Surrey’s older houses. A few of Surrey’s oldest buildings have heavy Horsham stone slab roofs. For a purchase or a newly finished roof, the materials decide which details matter most. An older home may be listed, or stand in a conservation area. Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the council can say whether a street is in a conservation area. Re-roofing in different materials may need permission there.
The streets around a church such as Church of St John the Baptist are frequently among the oldest in a place, and if your home is one of the older ones nearby, older patch repairs can hide behind a tidy front slope, and the survey looks past them.
