Roof surveys for homes and businesses in Old Wolverton
The report is written for you, in plain language. Every issue comes with photos and a written recommendation, and where it’s relevant we say what’s urgent and what can wait. With the Standard Survey you also get moisture detection and a structural check. Premium adds thermal imaging, a drone inspection where applicable and a same-day report. Reports are sent by email. If you are worried about ridge tiles that have lifted or moved and water stains on rafters and ceiling joists, we can find out what’s behind it, whatever the roof.
Trees around homes in smaller places like Old Wolverton drop leaves, twigs and moss onto roofs and into gutters. Once gutters and outlets block, water spills over and soaks the walls, and moss holds water against tiles. A report spots that kind of slow problem before it becomes damp inside. Moss on the roof and weeds in the gutter are both easy to spot from the ground.
The report is written in plain words, so you don’t need to be a roofer to follow it. Photographs show what each point refers to, and recommendations are put with the most urgent first where relevant.

How we price roof surveys
All our prices include VAT. What changes the price is:
- The roof’s overall size
- The type of building, from a house to a block or an office
- The height of the building and how the roof can safely be seen
- Whether thermal imaging or a drone is needed
Our price is from £150, including VAT. What you pay depends on how big and how high the roof is, access and the package you choose.
What we need to know
We will typically ask about:
- Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
- The reason for the survey, like buying, a leak or storm damage
- The property’s address and postcode
- What kind of property and roof it is
Buyers should book once an offer has been accepted, so you have the findings in time to act on them before you exchange. Otherwise, simply ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email whenever suits you.
Checking the roof from the ground
After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.
What you cannot do safely is get up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery, and falls from height are serious. That part is for a survey.
When you need someone else
Our survey isn’t a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. Other limits to bear in mind:
- The condition of the rest of the building (that is a RICS home survey)
- How the roof will behave in every kind of weather
- Asbestos testing of any kind
If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email and we will point you to the right survey. What a survey covers and does not.

How the survey works
It helps to start with what’s prompted the survey: buying, a leak, storm damage, new work or just wanting to know where things stand. That way we can focus on what matters to you. The visit typically takes roughly 1–2 hours for most homes, depending on how many separate roofs there are. For a survey in Old Wolverton, we agree the time, the access and parking before the day. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays. Let us know about any garages, outbuildings or extensions you want included.
- You tell us the address, the type of roof and what’s worrying you.
- A visit is booked for a weekday, Saturday or Sunday.
- Outside, we inspect from the ground, windows and other safe vantage points, and from the roof where safe.
- Inside, we check the loft space where there’s safe access.
- You receive the report with photos and recommendations, prioritised by urgency.
How to prepare
- Keep pets out of the way during the survey
- Note where any stains or damp appear
- Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors

Roof surveys in Old Wolverton: local notes
In this part of the South East, older roofs are mostly slate or clay tile and many newer ones concrete tile, and flat-roofed additions turn up almost everywhere. Whatever the covering, it is often the fixings, flashings, valleys and gutters that give out first. If the drone is used for your survey, the flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first.
Linford Manor lies about 2.9 miles east, so building around Old Wolverton goes back a long way. If your house is among the older ones, the roof may have been repaired many times, and the survey records how each part is holding up. Landlords with a home close to Wolverton station may find that a roof report between tenancies helps plan work before a small defect becomes a tenant’s leak.

FAQs for Old Wolverton
Will you come out to Old Wolverton?
Yes, we do. We cover the whole of London and South East England, from towns to the smallest villages. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
Do you survey roofs for landlords with property near Wolverton station?
Yes, rented property is part of what we cover. You can ring 07833 053749 or email us with the address and a few details.
Can you survey at the weekend?
We survey seven days a week: Monday to Friday, Saturdays and Sundays. Let us know which days suit you when you book.
What does a roof survey include?
All the main parts of the roof: coverings, ridges, valleys, flashings, chimneys, gutters and the loft. Standard adds moisture detection and a structural check, and Premium adds thermal imaging and a drone where applicable.
Can you check whether my roof contains asbestos?
No. Asbestos was banned in UK construction in 1999, so older buildings may have it. We flag materials that could contain it, and recommends a specialist asbestos surveyor looks at them.
Is this a RICS survey?
No. We look at the roof, not the whole building, and it isn’t a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey. It can sit alongside a RICS survey if you want both.
Do you use drones?
Yes, where it is applicable. Whether we can fly on the day depends on the weather and the airspace rules, and we check for restrictions near airports before flying. We hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID.
Common roof problems in Old Wolverton
Not every roof problem comes from outside. Poor ventilation lets condensation build up in the loft, and the damp gets into timbers and insulation. It is frequently mistaken for a leak, and it needs a different fix.
People typically book a survey after spotting something like this:
- Ridge tiles that have lifted or moved
- Standing water on a flat roof
- Flashings that have come away from the wall
- Torn or sagging underlay
If you look after a shop, office or commercial unit, for example near Midsummer Place, a dated report on the roof is useful for planning and for any lease discussions.
Choosing a roof surveyor
- Will the report include photos?
- Whether the inside of the roof is included
- Which parts of the roof they’ll actually see
- Their insurance cover
