Roof survey in Seawick: what you get
Everything we check, we check safely: from ground level, from windows and other vantage points, from inside the loft and from the roof itself where it’s safe. The Premium Survey adds thermal imaging and, where applicable, a drone, which helps with tall or steep roofs. All we need from you is access to the property and the loft. Everything we see is photographed for the report. If you’ve noticed slipped, cracked or missing slates and tiles and loose chimney pots, a survey will tell you what’s going on.
Village roofs frequently face open fields and take the full force of wind and rain, which is hard on ridges, chimneys, flashings and gutters. Damp in old walls is slow to dry, so a small leak can do a lot of harm. A written report sets out what to deal with and in what order. Lead flashings and old chimney stacks are often where weather gets in first.
After the visit, you get a report with photos, emailed to you. It explains the condition of the roof, the defects we found and what we recommend.

Can I check my roof myself?
What you cannot do safely is get up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way, and a fall can be serious. That part is for a survey.
A DIY look is useful, but it is not a survey. From ground level, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are often out of sight.
What we do, step by step
It is useful to start with what’s prompted the survey: a purchase, a leak, a storm, new work or simply peace of mind. It helps us focus on what matters most to you. The visit usually takes about one to two hours for an ordinary house roof, and longer if there are extensions, dormers or several chimneys. Somewhere as small as Seawick, access is often the only tricky part. Mention any outbuildings, barns or garages you want included, and anything about the roof you already know. Weekday and weekend visits are available.
- We help you choose a Basic, Standard or Premium Survey.
- On the day, we start by hearing what you’ve noticed.
- We inspect and photograph every part of the roof we can safely see.
- Extra checks are carried out where your package includes them.
- You get a written report with photos and clear recommendations.
How to prepare
- Show us where any leaks or stains appear
- Let us know where we can park nearby
- Agree roof access with the managing agent if it is shared

Why act early in Seawick
Hidden gutters and valleys can fail without warning. When they do, water comes straight into the house. We check them before they cause trouble. In a place like Seawick, a barn or garage roof left to fail puts whatever is inside at risk. A quick look before winter can save a lot.
Every price we give includes VAT, and the written report is part of the package. Our price is from £150, including VAT. Where your roof sits in the range depends on its size, height and access.

Seawick: your questions answered
I let a flat near Clacton-On-Sea station. Can you check the roof?
Yes, that’s a common request. Let us know whether a tenant or an agent will let us in, and we can send the report to you or your agent.
Is Seawick within the area you cover?
Yes, Seawick is on our map. Villages and rural addresses get the same survey as a town house, with the route planned beforehand.
Do you go up on the roof?
Where it is safe, yes. Much of the survey is done from ground level, upper windows and the roof space. On Premium, a drone is used where applicable.
How soon is the report ready?
It depends on the package: Basic within 48 hours, Standard within 24 to 48 hours and Premium the same day. We send it by email.
What’s the best way to book?
It is easiest to phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form. Let us know the address and a little about the roof, and we’ll take it from there. Surveys run on any day of the week.
Can you survey a shared roof?
Yes, once whoever controls the roof agrees access. On a shared roof we can only inspect the parts we are allowed to reach, and the report makes that clear.
Is this a RICS survey?
No. This is a survey of the roof only, and it is not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey. It can sit alongside a RICS survey if you want both.

Local roofs in Seawick
Seawick lies within about 1 mile of the sea, where wind off the sea can be strong. The weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead, as a small drone cannot fly safely in high wind or heavy rain. If your survey includes the drone, we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before flying.
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Tendring Enterprise Studio School, its roofs, gutters and any chimneys need the same checks as a house’s, just on a bigger scale.
