Storm Damage Roof Report in East Molesey
Storm damage roof reports across East Molesey, backed by more than 20 years’ experience. Every survey ends with a written report and photographs.
- Flashings pulled away from walls or stacks
- Gaps where slates or tiles have gone
- Holes or cracks caused by debris
Tips that help
Here are a few things we’d tell any owner, before and after a survey:
- Take photos from the ground or a window, never by climbing
- Read your policy wording on storm damage
- Photograph damage inside the house too
- Keep invoices for temporary repairs
The report is emailed to you, and you decide what to send to your insurer. It’s your record to use.
A well-maintained roof stands up to storms better. Fix slipped slates, loose ridges and lifted flashings when you spot them.
How a storm damage roof report works in East Molesey
When a storm has damaged your roof, a written record can help you explain it to your insurer. We photograph the damage, describe it and note whether it fits storm damage, older wear or both. We are not loss adjusters, and we can’t say whether a claim will be paid. What we give you is an independent record of the roof. If you’ve noticed broken or displaced guttering and roofs hit by falling trees, a survey will tell you what’s going on, on flashings, ridges and hips and flat roofs alike.
Older cottages and houses around East Molesey may have roofs with little or no underlay. Once the slates or tiles let water past, there is little to stop it reaching the ceiling. Whether it is long-term wear or recent damage makes a difference to what happens next. Wet battens and insulation in the loft are often the first clue.
The report does not just list problems. It explains what we found, why it matters and what we recommend.

Different roofs, different checks
Ridge and hip tiles
The ridge and hips are among the most exposed parts of a roof. We record any that have lifted, cracked or come away.
Lead flashings
Flashings with older defects often fail in high winds. We record what looks recent and what looks older.

FAQs for East Molesey
Is East Molesey in the area you cover?
Yes. We survey roofs across London and South East England, and East Molesey is part of that. You can phone 07833 053749 or email us with the address and a few details.
Is East Molesey within the area you cover?
We do. Villages and rural addresses get the same survey as a town house, with the route planned beforehand.
My storm claim was turned down. What now?
Start by complaining to the insurer. If it isn’t resolved, the Financial Ombudsman Service may be able to help. The Ombudsman asks about storm conditions, whether the damage is consistent with a storm and whether the storm was the main cause.
Can you survey at the weekend?
We survey on any day from Monday to Sunday, during the day. Just say which days work for you.
Do I have to be there for the survey?
Not always. If we only need the outside, we can agree that in advance, but anything inside needs someone there to give access.
Is this an asbestos survey?
No. Asbestos surveys and sampling aren’t something we do. Where a material might contain it, like old cement sheets on a building from before 2000, the report flags it, with a recommendation to have a specialist asbestos surveyor check before it is disturbed.
Can you tell me if my claim will be paid?
We can’t say whether a claim will be paid. Insurers decide claims on their own policy wording. Our report gives you an independent record of the damage and its likely cause.
Wind, rain and roofs in East Molesey
Older houses across Surrey often have handmade clay tiles, and many have tile-hanging. Horsham stone slab roofs survive on some old buildings in Surrey. Each of these roof types has its own typical places for water to get in. The wider area around East Molesey has a long history of building, with Hampton Court Palace about 0.7 miles east. Older roofs in the wider area can hide decades of patch repairs, so the detail matters.
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as The Orchard Infant School, on a building that size, finding the source of a drip means looking well beyond the stain. For businesses in and around places such as Bentall Centre, water through a ceiling can damage stock and close a sales floor, so the source needs finding fast. Trees in and around Cigarette Island Park shed leaves that can end up in nearby gutters.

How the survey works
The visit has one job: to see as much of the roof as can safely be seen and record it clearly. Notes and photographs go into the written report. It typically takes about one to two hours at a house, and longer if the damage is spread across a large roof. Homes around East Molesey frequently have gardens on more than one side, which gives us room to step back and see the roof. Let us know if any side is fenced off or hard to reach. The loft, where there is safe access, completes the picture.
- We start with what you’ve seen and any temporary repairs.
- We check inside, including the loft where there’s access, for water damage.

Related advice
Should I look at the roof myself first?
Inside, the loft is a good place to look, with care. Use a torch and stay on the joists or boards, checking for stains, damp wood or chinks of daylight.
The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way, and a fall can be serious. That part is for a survey.
Why get it checked now?
The sooner the damage is recorded, the clearer the evidence. Later weather and temporary repairs can make it harder to see what happened. In an older home around East Molesey, water from a roof defect can get into timber and plaster, which is far harder to put right than the roof fault itself.
