Storm Damage Roof Report in Surrey

Storm damage roof report in Surrey: how it works

We inspect the roof from wherever it can be seen safely: the ground, windows and vantage points, the loft where there’s access, and the roof itself where that’s safe. We photograph and describe each area of damage. If part of the roof cannot be seen, the report says so. You get a photo-illustrated written report to give to your insurer. We survey chimney stacks, ridges and hips and flat roofs, and common reasons people get in touch are gutters pulled loose in the wind and cowls or aerials dislodged in the wind.

You don’t need to do much on the day. Show us any stains, drips or problem areas you know about, and we’ll get on with the inspection. A typical survey takes an hour or two for a house, and more on a big or complicated roof.

  1. We start with what you’ve seen and any temporary repairs.
  2. We check inside, including the loft where there’s access, for water damage.
  3. We view the roof from safe positions.
  4. We record fresh damage and older defects.
  5. The report, with photos, is emailed to you.

What you will pay

The cost of a survey depends on the roof: how big it is, how high it is, the number of separate roofs and how it can be reached and seen safely. Storm damage roof report starts from £150, including VAT.

Landmarks near Guildford

Around Guildford, our work takes us to homes and buildings near Surrey Maths School, Sandfield Primary School and Guildford High School and the streets around them. You will also find Church of St John the Evangelist (under half a mile east), Stoke Park (less than half a mile east) and The King's Head pub (within half a mile south-east). For rail, the closest station is London Road (Guildford) station, about 0.6 miles south-east. Other landmarks nearby include Guildford Castle (0.9 miles south) and Guildford House (0.8 miles south). Open spaces near Guildford include Silent Pool and Pewley Hill.

Leaks and storm damage across Surrey

Storm damage across Surrey is best recorded soon after it happens, with photographs and a note of what looks new and what looks like wear. Any claim is the insurer’s decision.

Our area takes in slate-roofed London terraces, clay-tiled Weald houses, Essex weatherboarding and post-war new towns. Roofs in Surrey are part of that picture.

Guildford: Guildford Castle lies about 0.9 miles south, so building around Guildford goes back a long way. Older roofs around here can leak at old repairs as readily as at original details. Landlords with a home close to London Road (Guildford) station may find that a clear finding on where water gets in helps you brief a roofer right away.

What affects the cost of storm damage roof reports

Our packages start from £150, including VAT. The price for your roof depends on:

  • The size of the roof
  • Whether thermal imaging or a drone is needed
  • The package you choose: Basic, Standard or Premium
  • The type of building, from a house to a block or an office

A Basic Survey starts from £150, including VAT. Standard is from £250 and Premium from £400, both inc. VAT. You’ll know the price for your roof before booking.

Getting in touch

These details help when you contact us:

  • The property’s address and postcode
  • Any deadline, such as an exchange date
  • Whether there’s a loft hatch, a shared roof or tricky access
  • Where water is showing inside, if it is

We confirm the price for your roof before booking, so you know where you stand. Storm damage roof report starts from £150, including VAT. For a price for your roof, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form.

Should I look at the roof myself first?

Look up at the roof after a storm, from ground level: broken slates or tiles in the garden, gaps along the ridge or loose lead are signs to note. Don’t go up yourself.

What you can’t do safely is get up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery, and a fall can be serious. That is where a survey comes in, using safe viewpoints and a drone where applicable.

Before and after the survey

Over many surveys, some simple habits stand out:

  • Write down when the storm hit and when you noticed damage
  • Arrange temporary cover with a roofer if rain is getting in
  • Check how your policy defines a storm
  • File receipts for anything you pay for

You will need a roofer’s quote for the repairs. The report gives them a clear list of the damage.

Check the roof from ground level after strong winds. With binoculars, you can often spot problems without climbing. Never climb onto the roof yourself.

Why get it checked now?

Your policy may say how quickly you need to report damage. Check the wording and tell your insurer as soon as you can. Our report can then add a clear record.

What to check before booking

  • Their report turnaround times
  • Do they have a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID for drone work?
  • Whether VAT is in the quoted price
  • Their track record with similar roofs

What a survey doesn’t cover

It’s a careful look at the roof, not the whole story. Its limits include:

  • A price for the repairs
  • Whether your insurer will pay the claim
  • What’s beneath slates, tiles or membranes

Questions from Surrey

Can you inspect my roof with a drone?

Where it’s applicable and safe, yes. We fly a sub-250g drone and we are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). Drone inspection is part of the Drone Roof Survey and the Premium Survey, where it applies.

What if the roof was already worn?

Most policies do not cover wear and tear. Our report records storm damage and any older wear we see, so you know what the roof shows. Your insurer decides how its policy applies.

Will you check the loft?

If the survey needs it and the roof space can be reached safely, yes. A clear path to the hatch helps.

What’s the best way to book?

To book, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email and tell us the address and what you need to know. We’ll confirm the price and agree a day with you.

How much is a storm damage roof report?

Our reports start from £150. Larger roofs are quoted for their size. The report doesn’t include repair costs.

How should I record storm damage myself?

Stay off the roof. Photograph the damage from below or from a window. Note the date and time, and photograph any damage inside.

Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?

Yes, once whoever controls the roof agrees access. On a shared roof we can only inspect the parts we’re allowed to reach, and the report makes that clear.
