Storm damage roof reports for homes and businesses in Hythe End

Our storm damage report starts from £150. It is a photo-illustrated written report, sent by email. It isn’t a repair quote and does not include repair costs, so you’ll need a roofer’s quote for that. The insurer may still send a loss adjuster of its own. What you get is an independent record of the damage and what seems to have caused it. We survey gutters and fascias, slate and tile slopes and chimney stacks, and the problems we’re asked to look at most are cowls or aerials dislodged in the wind and damage from fallen branches or debris.

Being in a small place like Hythe End makes no difference to how a leak or storm damage is looked at: the journey and access are just planned in advance. Let us know where the water shows, when it appears and anything you’ve noticed outside, plus any earlier repairs. Photos of the stain and of the roof from outside are helpful too.

After the visit, you get a written report with photos, sent by email. It explains the condition of the roof, the defects we found and what we recommend.

How we price storm damage roof reports

All our prices include VAT. What changes the price is:

  • Extra roofs, like extensions, dormers or garages
  • If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone
  • The size of the roof
  • The height of the building and how the roof can safely be seen

One thing that affects the price is the package: from £150 for Basic, £250 for Standard and £400 for Premium, inc. VAT. Size, height and access can affect the price too.

Booking your survey

These details help when you get in touch:

  • Photos of the roof, taken safely from the ground or a window
  • When you need the report by
  • Any stains, drips or damp patches you’ve seen indoors
  • Access details, such as a loft hatch or a shared roof

Our price is from £150, including VAT. What you pay depends on the roof’s size, access and the package, so ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the details.

What happens on the day

Expect us to ask a few questions before we start, like when any problem began and what work has been done before. Then the inspection itself takes an hour or two for a house, or half a day or so for a commercial building. In a hamlet or village like Hythe End, a postcode doesn’t always lead to the right gate, so a few directions are welcome. After that, the survey runs as it would anywhere.

  1. You tell us when the storm was and what damage you’ve seen.
  2. We inspect the roof from safe viewpoints and from the loft where there is access.
  3. Each area of damage is photographed and described.
  4. We check whether the damage fits storm damage, older wear or both.
  5. The findings are written up with photos for you to share with your insurer.

How to prepare

  • Tell us about parking before the day
  • Move anything stored under the loft hatch
  • Make a note of anything you’d like us to look at

Arrange a survey

If you have photos of the roof, send them over. Take them safely from ground level or a window. To send them or to book, phone 07833 053749 or email us.

Advice

Practical tips

Small things make a difference. Our tips:

  • Tell your insurer about the damage promptly
  • Don’t go onto the roof to take pictures
  • Record any water damage in rooms and the loft
  • Arrange temporary cover with a roofer if rain is getting in

Once we have been, the findings are written up with photos. It sets out what is damaged, the likely cause and any signs of older wear. Basic reports arrive within 48 hours, Standard reports in 24 to 48 hours and Premium reports the same day.

Keep records of roof work and surveys. They help show the roof was in good order before a storm.

Leaks and storm damage in Hythe End

Frogmore House, about 3.2 miles north-west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Hythe End. Older roofs in the wider area can hide decades of patch repairs, so the detail matters, and the council can say whether a home is in a conservation area. In Surrey, older roofs are often handmade clay tile, with tile-hanging on many upper walls. Horsham stone slab roofs survive on some old buildings in Surrey. Different coverings let water in at different points, which shapes where the search starts.

Take an older house close to St John's Church: lead flashings, valleys and old chimneys are typical places for water to get in. For site and facilities teams at buildings like Strode's College, tracing a leak on a big roof starts with where the water appears and works back.

Hythe End is about 1 mile north of Egham, in Surrey. Surveys in Hythe End work the same way as everywhere we cover: a careful look at everything that’s safely in view, photographs and a clear written report. We cover towns and villages across Surrey, large and small. For surveys nearby, see our Guildford page.

Questions from Hythe End

Do you cover smaller places like Hythe End?

Yes, we do. We work right across London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it is useful to know about access.

Is my home in Hythe End listed or in a conservation area?

You can check whether a building is listed on Historic England’s list, and your council can tell you if it’s in a conservation area. Listed building consent is needed for changes that affect a listed building’s special interest, and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.

Will my insurer pay out if I get a storm damage report?

The decision is your insurer’s, not ours. Our report records what is damaged, with photos, and the likely cause, which you can pass to your insurer.

Should I go up on the roof to take photos?

Stay off the roof. Take photos from the ground or from windows. Note the date and time, and photograph any damage inside.

What if my insurer declines the claim?

Raise it with your insurer first. If it is not resolved, the Financial Ombudsman Service may be able to help. The Ombudsman asks about storm conditions, whether the damage is consistent with a storm and whether the storm was the main cause.

Do you survey on Saturdays and Sundays?

Visits run seven days a week in the daytime, which suits people who work during the week. Just say which days work for you.

How much is a storm damage roof report?

Our reports start from £150. Larger roofs are quoted for their size. Repair costs are not part of the report.

Signs you need a storm damage roof report in Hythe End

A storm often finds a roof’s existing weak spots. Corroded nails on slate roofs, worn mortar on ridges and old flashings can all give way. We record recent damage alongside older defects.

Signs worth acting on include:

  • Loose or torn flashings
  • Gutters pulled loose in the wind
  • Slates and tiles blown off the roof
  • Damaged ridges and hips

For landlords with property near Wraysbury station, a clear finding on where water gets in helps you brief a roofer right away.

What’s in a roof survey

Leave it or get it looked at?

A clear, independent record helps you explain the damage to your insurer. It sets out what we found and the likely cause, so you are not relying only on your own photos. Where a roof is exposed, as many are in small places like Hythe End, driving rain gets into any weakness, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.

There are three survey packages: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, with VAT included. The price for your roof depends on its size, access and what you need to know.
