Storm damage roof report in Molesey: what you get

A storm damage roof report is an independent record of the damage to your roof after a storm. It sets out what is damaged, with photographs, and what we think the likely cause is. You can then give it to your insurer with your claim. Insurers decide claims on their own policy wording. We are not loss adjusters, and we can’t tell you whether a claim will succeed. Common reasons to book are roofs hit by falling trees and broken or displaced guttering, across chimney stacks, flashings and gutters and fascias.

Around Molesey, chimneys on older homes are a common source of leaks, through worn flaunching, failed pointing or lifted flashings. Damp on a chimney breast is not always rain from above, which is why it is worth tracing properly. The stack, its flashings and the loft space beside it are all worth checking.

Where we can’t see part of the roof, the report says so. You will know exactly what was inspected and what wasn’t, and what we’d suggest next.

Rented homes, blocks and businesses

Managing agents and residents’ management companies use roof surveys to plan maintenance. The report sets out what needs attention now and what can wait, which helps with budgets and planning.

With a portfolio of properties, surveys can be booked for more than one address. To arrange surveys for several addresses, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email with the addresses.

Your questions about storm damage roof reports in Molesey

Will you come out to Molesey?

We do. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one.

How do I find out if my home in Molesey is listed?

We cannot confirm that for you, but Historic England’s list and your council can. Both listing and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material, and councils can also use Article 4 directions.

Will you go up on the roof?

Only where it is safe to do so. We inspect whatever is safely visible: from ground level, from windows, from inside the roof space, from the roof where it’s safe and by drone where applicable. The report says if anything couldn’t be seen.

Is this a RICS survey?

No. We look at the roof, not the whole building, and it is not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey. Many buyers have both.

How do I book a survey in Molesey?

The quickest way is to call 07833 053749 or send us an email. Give us the address and some details about the roof, and we’ll recommend the right survey. We survey seven days a week.

Can you inspect my roof with a drone?

Yes, where it is applicable. We hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID and fly a drone under 250g, and every flight depends on the airspace and the weather.

How long have you been surveying roofs?

Over 20 years and more than 5,000 surveys.

Different roofs, different checks

Clay and concrete tiles

Broken or missing tiles leave the underlay exposed to rain. Each gap is recorded with a photo.

Slate roofs

In high winds, slates can slip or go, frequently where nails have rusted. Our report notes moved slates and any sign of older corrosion.

What we are asked to look at in Molesey

Strong winds lift loose or poorly fixed slates and tiles, ridge pieces and flashings. Driving rain then gets in through the gaps. Most people book a report soon after a storm, when they’ve seen damage or water has come in.

Common reasons to book include:

  • Slates and tiles blown off the roof
  • Cowls or aerials dislodged in the wind
  • Lead lifted at abutments
  • Roofs hit by falling trees

Shop and office owners around Bentall Centre may find that water through a ceiling can damage stock and close a sales floor, so the source needs finding fast.

Questions to ask before booking

  • How soon the report will arrive
  • What happens after the report arrives
  • What they will not be able to tell you
  • What exactly goes into their report

What’s in a roof survey

Why act early in Molesey

The sooner the damage is recorded, the clearer the evidence. Later weather and temporary repairs can make it harder to see what happened. Tradespeople may need to travel further to a smaller place like Molesey, so it’s useful to plan roof work rather than call someone out in a hurry. A survey gives you that notice.

Prices quoted always include VAT, and the report is not charged as an extra. Storm damage roof report starts from £150, including VAT. Size, height and access decide where your roof falls.

What happens on the day

The visit normally starts outside and finishes in the loft: outside views come first, then the loft space if there is safe access. All told, expect roughly 1–2 hours for a house, rising to roughly 3–4 hours on a commercial building. Some parts of a survey depend on the weather, so a visit to Molesey is booked with the forecast in mind: the parts that need calm, dry weather are planned around it.

  1. We note the date of the storm and the damage you’ve seen.
  2. We look at the roof from wherever it is safe.
  3. We record and photograph the damage.
  4. The report notes whether the damage fits a storm, older wear or both.
  5. You get a written report to pass to your insurer.
