Our roof survey service in GU21

Our roof surveys cover GU21 and the wider South East. We carry out surveys on weekdays and at weekends. We’re insured for professional indemnity and public liability. You get a written report by email, with photos and clear recommendations. Houses, flats and commercial buildings all follow the same careful process. When you are ready to book, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form. We survey chimney stacks, ridges, hips and valleys and the roof space, and people most often book us about torn or sagging underlay and debris building up in roof valleys.

A survey visit follows a simple order: we hear what you’ve seen, inspect the roof from each safe vantage point, take photographs as we go and make notes for the report. It normally takes between one and two hours for most homes, depending on how many separate roofs there are.

  1. We help you choose a Basic, Standard or Premium Survey.
  2. On the day, we start by hearing what you’ve noticed.
  3. Coverings, ridges, hips, valleys, flashings, chimneys and gutters are inspected and photographed.
  4. Extra checks are carried out where your package includes them.
  5. You get a written report with photos and clear recommendations.

How our prices work

Prices quoted always include VAT, and the report is not charged as an extra. Prices start from £150, including VAT. Where your roof sits in the range depends on its size, height and access.

A quick phone call is typically the easiest start: phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email, and we will ask about the building and what you need. You will have a price before anything is arranged.

Around Woking

Locally, jobs take us to homes and businesses close to Hoe Valley School, Goldsworth Primary School and Church of St Mary of Bethany, among other places. Also close by are Hoe Valley Linear Park (1.3 miles south), The Red Lion pub (0.5 miles north) and Woking High School (0.9 miles north). For rail, the closest station is Woking station, roughly 0.7 miles east of the centre. A little further out are The Peacocks (0.6 miles east) and The Hockey Museum (0.7 miles east). Green spaces nearby include Brookwood Lye.

Roofs, chimneys and gutters across GU21

From Woking, Goldsworth Park and St John's to smaller places, people across GU21 use a roof survey to plan ahead. A report helps you sort small faults before they let water in.

The South East’s airspace includes flight restriction zones around several of its airports, so every drone flight in GU21 is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. Where permission is needed, the flight waits for it.

Woking: With Botleys Mansion about 4.3 miles north-east, the area around Woking has a long history. If you own one of the older houses, the roof may have been repaired many times, and the survey records how each part is holding up. If you live near a park such as Hoe Valley Linear Park, or anywhere with mature trees, autumn leaves can block gutters and valleys, so outlets and downpipes are worth watching.

What affects the price in GU21

To price your survey, we look at:

  • The shape of the roof and its details
  • If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone
  • Whether it’s a home or a commercial building
  • How many separate roofs there are, such as extensions, dormers and garages

We offer three survey packages: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, with VAT included. The price for your roof depends on its size, access and what you want to find out.

What to let us know when you contact us

Getting the details right at the start saves time. Please include:

  • Pictures from the garden or a window, if you have them
  • Anything about access we should know
  • The style of property, from a terrace to a block
  • Any deadline, such as an exchange date

Getting a price is simple: just ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form, tell us about the property and we’ll explain which survey suits. We confirm the price before anything is booked.

What this survey cannot tell you

This isn’t a RICS building survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. It also has these limits:

  • A structural engineer’s report
  • Walls, floors and services below the roof
  • Whether materials contain asbestos (that needs a specialist asbestos surveyor)

Practical tips

A survey works best with a little help from you, before and after. Some tips:

  • Leave roof access to professionals
  • Take photos of any leaks as they happen
  • Let us know about past leaks
  • Move stored items away from the loft hatch

If you need work done, the report gives roofers a clear brief. They’ll see each defect and its location, so their quotes cover the same ground.

Keep the loft space ventilated. A stuffy loft collects condensation, and it can wet timbers and insulation. Make sure insulation does not block the airflow at the eaves.

Why get it checked now?

By the time water marks a ceiling, it’s often been getting in for a while. Damp spreads through insulation and timber before anything shows below. From inside the roof space, we can often spot it sooner.

What to check before booking

  • Whether the price includes VAT
  • How long the report takes to arrive
  • Is there a chance to talk the report through?
  • How they’ll see the roof: from the ground, the loft, the roof or by drone

Surveys for landlords and agents in GU21

Where a roof is shared: access has to be agreed with whoever owns or manages the building. Let us know about it when you book and we will plan the survey around it.

We also survey roofs for businesses and commercial landlords, including offices, shops and units. Larger roofs take longer, so they’re priced to suit.

Common questions in GU21

Do you carry professional indemnity insurance?

Every survey is covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance.

How long does the visit take?

Allow between one and two hours for most houses, with bigger or more complicated roofs taking longer. We’ll give you an idea of timing when you book.

Do you work in GU21?

Yes. GU21 is part of the area we cover.

Will you fly a drone over my roof?

Where it’s applicable and safe, yes. We fly a sub-250g drone and we are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). It’s included in the Drone Roof Survey and, where it applies, the Premium Survey.

Will you check the loft?

Where it is relevant to the survey and there’s safe access, yes. A clear path to the hatch helps.

What if it rains on the day?

Some surveys depend on the weather more than others. Drones can’t fly safely in high wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best with a dry roof, little wind and a sunny day beforehand. If the conditions aren’t right, we will talk to you about another date.

Does someone need to be in?

Not necessarily. If we only need the outside, we can agree that beforehand, but anything inside needs someone there to give access.
