Our roof survey service in KT16
Good roofs last decades, but their parts wear at different rates. Natural slate can last 100 years or more, and clay and concrete tiles commonly 50 years or more, yet nails, battens and underlay often fail first. A survey shows which parts of your roof are wearing. That lets you plan work in good time rather than after a leak. We survey chimney stacks, flat roofs and natural slate, and the problems we are asked to look at most are cracked or blistered flat roof coverings and loose ridge or hip tiles.
The visit has one job: to look at the roof as closely as is safe and record what we find. Notes and photos go into the written report. The visit typically takes roughly 1–2 hours at a typical home, rising to roughly 3–4 hours on a commercial building.
- We help you choose a Basic, Standard or Premium Survey.
- We arrive at the agreed time and talk through any concerns.
- We inspect and photograph every part of the roof we can safely see.
- Moisture detection, a structural check, thermal imaging or a drone are added where your package includes them.
- You get a written report with photos and clear recommendations.

Homes and roofs across KT16
In KT16, our roof surveys work takes in owners, landlords and managing agents, from Chertsey, Ottershaw and Penton Hook to the quieter places in between. Every report comes with photographs and written recommendations.
We work right across London and the South East, from the Isle of Wight to Hertfordshire, KT16 included. Visits run on weekdays and at weekends.
Chertsey: If you live near a park like Woburn Park, or anywhere with mature trees, autumn leaves can block gutters and valleys, and blocked gutters overflow and soak walls. If you own a rental within reach of Chertsey station, the gap between tenancies is a good time to have the roof looked at.
Surveys for landlords and agents in KT16
We survey roofs for landlords and agents as well as householders. A written report with photos gives you a clear record of the roof, which helps you plan work between tenancies.
Any of our surveys can be booked by landlords, agents and building managers in KT16. To discuss a property or a block, ring 07833 053749 or email us.
Why roofs fail
Not every roof problem comes from outside. A badly ventilated loft collects condensation, and the damp gets into timbers and insulation. It’s frequently mistaken for a leak.
Things that often lead to a survey include:
- Ridge tiles that have lifted or moved
- Torn or sagging underlay
- Loose chimney pots
- Valley linings that have cracked or split
Useful tips for KT16 property owners
A survey works best with a little help from you, before and after. Tips:
- Include dormers, porches and garages when booking
- Watch for slipped slates after bad weather
- Photograph stains when they appear
- Let us know about past leaks
We email the report to you. Basic reports come within 48 hours, Standard within 24 to 48 hours and Premium the same day. Findings are explained in plain words, with recommendations.
Have the roof surveyed every few years, and after major storms. Routine surveys pick up wear before it leaks. Each report gives a record to compare against.
Different roofs, different checks
Clay plain and peg tiles
Clay tiles are common on older South East homes. Rotten pegs and battens let tiles move.
Concrete interlocking tiles
On low-pitched roofs, the laps and fixings of interlocking tiles matter. We look for lifted, cracked or slipped tiles, especially at the verges and ridge.
When you need someone else
Before booking, it’s worth knowing what a survey will not do:
- Whether materials contain asbestos (that needs a specialist asbestos surveyor)
- A structural engineer’s report
- What’s under the slates, tiles or felt
KT16: your questions answered
Do you carry out asbestos surveys?
No. Asbestos was banned in UK construction in 1999, so older buildings may have it. Our report notes any materials that might, and recommends a specialist asbestos surveyor looks at them.
How experienced are you?
We’ve completed more than 5,000 surveys, across 20+ years of surveying roofs.
Is this a RICS survey?
No. We look at the roof, not the whole building, so it’s not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey. Many buyers have both.
What’s the best way to book?
It is easiest to phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email. Give us the address and some details about the roof, and we’ll take it from there. Surveys run on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
What do you check on a roof survey?
Slates or tiles, ridges, hips, valleys, flashings, chimneys and gutters are all checked, plus the roof space where there is safe access. You get a written report with photographs and recommendations.
Does someone need to be in?
Not necessarily. If we only need the outside, we can agree that ahead of time, but the loft and any rooms with damp need someone to let us in.
Do you carry out surveys on Saturdays and Sundays?
We survey seven days a week: weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Let us know which days suit you when booking.
