Our roof survey service in GU22
Three packages cover most roofs: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, inc. VAT. The Basic Survey gives a visual inspection, photographs and written recommendations. The higher packages add more checks, like moisture detection, a structural check, thermal imaging and a drone where applicable. Every package includes a written report. Typical surveys look at gaps in the roof where coverings have gone and worn or blocked valleys, on clay and concrete tiles, flat roofs and natural slate.
You do not need to do much on the day. Point out anything you’ve noticed, such as stains, drips or loose pieces, and we’ll take it from there. The survey itself takes roughly 1–2 hours for most houses, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time.
- You let us know about the property and any concerns.
- We agree a date, on a weekday, Saturday or Sunday.
- We check the roof from every safe vantage point, inside and out.
- We check the coverings, ridges, hips, valleys, flashings, chimneys and gutters, and photograph what we find.
- Your report arrives by email, with recommendations prioritised by urgency.

Landmarks near Westfield
Locally, jobs take us to homes and businesses close to Hoe Valley Linear Park, Hoe Valley School and Westfield Primary School. You will also find Drumming Snipe pub (0.6 miles south-west), St Mark's Church (less than half a mile south-west) and Hoe Valley School (0.6 miles west). The closest station to Westfield is Woking station, about 1.2 miles north. A little further out are Woking Community Hospital (1 mile north) and Guildford Castle (4.7 miles south). Open spaces near Westfield include Pewley Hill and Boldermere Lake.
Roof surveys across GU22: local notes
Older homes across GU22 frequently keep chimney stacks long after the fires went out, and the lead and mortar around them need watching. Gutters, valleys and fixings come next.
From inner London terraces to Kent oast houses, Sussex tile-hanging and Hampshire thatch, the South East has a huge mix of roofs. GU22 is part of that mix.
Westfield: With Clandon Park about 4.1 miles south-east, the area around Westfield has a long history. On a period home nearby, the survey separates sound original work from tired later repairs. If you let a flat or house near Woking station, a roof report between tenancies helps plan work before a small defect becomes a tenant’s leak.
Useful tips for GU22 property owners
Most of what helps is simple and safe from ground level. A few suggestions:
- Do not climb onto the roof yourself
- Look for debris in the garden after high winds
- Have details of recent roof work to hand
- Move stored items away from the loft hatch
Keep the report with your property records. It gives you something to compare against later, and buyers may ask about the roof when you sell.
Check the loft now and then, with care and a good torch. Watch for stains, damp timbers and daylight through the roof. Take photos of anything that changes.
Different roofs, different checks
Clay plain and peg tiles
Older homes in the Weald and across the South East often have clay plain tiles, and some have Kent peg tiles held by pegs. Rotten pegs and battens let tiles move.
Natural slate
From the loft, we check the underside of a slate roof. There may be old felt underlay, or none at all on very old roofs.
Honest limits
It is useful to know what a survey will not do before you book:
- Asbestos testing of any kind
- A promise that the roof will not leak in future
- A full building survey of the property
Signs you need a roof survey
Chimneys stand exposed above the roof. Mortar crumbles, the flaunching around the pots cracks and stacks can lean. Water that gets into a stack can show up as damp in the rooms below.
Typical things we are asked to look at include:
- Gutters that overflow in heavy rain
- Valley linings that have cracked or split
- Slipped, cracked or missing slates and tiles
- Torn or sagging underlay
Why get it checked now?
Without a survey, you are guessing at what the roof needs. You might pay for work that doesn’t fix the real problem, or to a real problem being missed. We tell you what’s really needed.
Before you book any surveyor
- Whether VAT is added on top
- Whether you can ask questions once you have the report
- Will they check the loft as well as the outside?
- If they fly a drone, whether they hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID
GU22: your questions answered
How do I book a survey in GU22?
It’s easiest to call 07833 053749 or drop us an email. Give us the address and a few details about the roof, and we will take it from there. Surveys run seven days a week.
Can you inspect my roof with a drone?
Where it is applicable and safe, yes. We fly a sub-250g drone and we are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). It’s included in the Drone Roof Survey and, where applicable, the Premium Survey.
Can you survey a shared roof?
Yes. Shared roofs just need a little more planning, with whoever owns or manages the building. Let us know about it when booking and we will explain what’s needed.
Is your survey a structural engineer’s report?
No. If we see signs that need an engineer, such as serious sagging, we will say so. Our survey isn’t a structural engineer’s report.
Do you give a life expectancy for the roof?
We don’t give a number of years. The report explains the condition of each part and the signs of wear, and we say what needs attention and how urgently.
Can you survey at the weekend?
We carry out surveys on weekdays and at weekends. To arrange a date, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email.
Do I need to be at home?
It depends on what we need to see. Inside the building and in the loft, we need someone to let us in.
