Storm damage roof reports near Virginia Water

Storm damage roof report in Virginia Water

Most policies do not cover wear and tear. So it matters whether the damage came from the storm or from a roof that was already worn. Our report records both: fresh breaks and recently moved slates or tiles, and older problems such as corroded nails or worn mortar. We describe what we see, whichever way it points. How the policy applies is for your insurer to decide. If you’re worried about damaged pots on the stack and ridge tiles that have come loose, we can find out what’s behind it, whatever the roof.

In older homes around places like Virginia Water, the underlay may be old bitumen felt, or there may be none at all. Once the slates or tiles let water past, there is little to stop it reaching the ceiling. Whether it’s long-term wear or recent damage makes a difference to what happens next. Wet battens and insulation in the loft are often the first clue.

It is not only a list of defects. It explains what we found, why it matters and what we recommend, so you can plan your next steps.

How the survey changes by roof type

Lead flashings

Flashings with older defects frequently fail in high winds. We record what looks recent and what looks older.

Chimney stacks

Flashings around stacks can lift in strong winds. Loose flashings are recorded.

How we price storm damage roof reports

Every roof is different, so prices are confirmed before booking. This is what makes a difference:

  • The number of roofs, including extensions and garages
  • Basic, Standard or Premium
  • The shape of the roof and its details
  • The type of building, from a house to a block or an office

A small, low roof with good viewpoints takes less time than a tall, complicated one, and the package matters as well. The price is always agreed first.

What we need to know

A few details help us point you to the right survey and price. When you contact us, let us know:

  • What’s prompted the survey
  • Where the property is, with the postcode
  • How the loft is reached, if there is one
  • The type of building and roof, such as pitched or flat

A quick phone call is normally the easiest start: ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email, and we’ll ask about the building and what you need. The price is agreed before a date is set.

What happens if roof problems are left?

Leaving storm damage can let water into the roof space and rooms below. Further water damage can blur what the storm actually did. Emergency temporary protection should be arranged with a roofer. Homes in smaller places like Virginia Water can face more weather, so a loose ridge or verge soon lets rain in. Wind gets under it and lifts more.

Every price we give includes VAT. Prices start from £150, including VAT. We confirm the price for the job before booking.

Useful tips for Virginia Water property owners

These tips come from what we see on roofs every week, before and after a survey:

  • Look at what your policy says about wear and tear
  • Report the damage to your insurer as soon as you can
  • Do not go onto the roof to take pictures
  • Ask a roofer for emergency temporary protection if water is coming in

Your insurer may send a loss adjuster to look at the damage. Our report gives you an independent record alongside theirs.

Keep the roof in good order between storms. Have loose slates, tiles and flashings seen to promptly.

FAQs for Virginia Water

Is Virginia Water within the area you cover?

We do. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one, with the route planned beforehand.

Do you carry out roof surveys in Virginia Water?

We do. The survey and report are the same in Virginia Water as anywhere else.

Do you look in the roof space?

If the survey needs it and the loft space can be reached safely, yes. Please clear anything stored under the hatch, and if the loft can’t be reached safely, the report says so.

Can you put a tarpaulin over the damage?

Call a roofer for emergency temporary protection. Take photos from ground level first if it’s safe. Keep receipts for any emergency work.

Do you survey on Saturdays and Sundays?

We carry out surveys seven days a week. To arrange a date, phone 07833 053749 or email us.

Can you inspect my roof with a drone?

Yes, where it applies and safe. We’re a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID), flying a sub-250g drone. It is included in the Drone Roof Survey and, where applicable, the Premium Survey.

How do I book a survey in Virginia Water?

To book, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form with the address, the type of property and what’s prompted the survey. We will confirm the price and find a day that suits.

Can I check my roof myself?

Fresh stains on ceilings or walls after rain are worth noting. Take a photo and write down when you saw it, as it helps a surveyor trace the cause.

A DIY look is useful, but it is not a survey. From the ground, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are often out of sight, and those are details a survey looks at closely.

The survey, step by step

You don’t need to do much on the day. Show us any stains, drips or problem areas you know about, and we will get on with the inspection. The survey itself takes between one and two hours for most houses, and about three to four hours for a commercial roof. In a smaller place like Virginia Water, parking is seldom the issue; lanes, gates and long drives are worth mentioning. On bungalows and lower roofs, much can be seen from the ground, with the loft showing the underside.

  1. We start with the details: when the storm hit and what damage you can see.
  2. The roof is looked at from ground level, from windows and from the roof space where it’s safe.
  3. We photograph and record every area of damage we can see.
  4. The likely cause is recorded, along with any evidence of older wear.
  5. The findings are written up with photos for you to share with your insurer.

How to prepare

  • Let us know about parking near the property
  • Check we can get to the back of the property
  • Dig out any old roof reports or invoices

Getting a price

Buyers should book once an offer has been accepted, so you have the findings in time to act on them before you exchange. Otherwise, simply phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email whenever suits you.
