Roof surveys across CR0

Our roof survey service in CR0

Our roof surveys cover CR0 and the wider South East. We carry out surveys on weekdays and at weekends. We hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance. Each survey ends with a written report, emailed with photographs and recommendations. Whether it is a house, a flat or a commercial building, the process is the same. When you are ready to book, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email. We survey clay and concrete tiles, flat roofs and lead flashings, and people most frequently book us about ponding, splits or blisters on flat roofs and leaning or weathered chimney stacks.

Expect us to ask a few questions before we start, about the roof’s history, any leaks and past repairs. The inspection then takes about 1–2 hours for an ordinary house roof, and longer if there are extensions, dormers or several chimneys.

  1. You tell us the address, the type of roof and what’s worrying you.
  2. We agree a date, including weekends if that suits you.
  3. We look at the roof from every safe vantage point outside.
  4. Inside, we check the roof space where there is safe access.
  5. We email a written report with photos and recommendations.

How our prices work

Price depends partly on the package: from £150 for Basic, £250 for Standard and £400 for Premium, including VAT. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.

Roof surveys across CR0: local notes

Across CR0, we survey roofs for owners, landlords and agents, in London, Croydon and Broad Green and well beyond. Each report sets out what was seen, with photographs and recommendations.

Our surveys reach from London out to Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Essex, the Thames Valley, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, CR0 included. Visits run on weekdays and at weekends.

London: The streets around a church such as St George the Martyr are often among the oldest in a place, and if your home is one of the older ones nearby, its roof may have old fixings, lead flashings and chimneys that need a closer look. If you let a flat or house near Elephant & Castle station, the gap between tenancies is a good time to have the roof looked at.

What a survey does not cover

We only report what can safely be seen on the day, so there are some things a survey cannot cover:

  • Defects hidden under coverings or inside walls without opening up
  • Whether materials contain asbestos (that needs a specialist asbestos surveyor)
  • A full building survey of the property

How the survey changes by roof type

Clay plain and peg tiles

Handmade and machine-made clay tiles are long-lasting. We check for cracked, slipped and missing tiles.

Flat roof coverings

Felt flat roofs often last around 15 to 20 years, EPDM rubber around 30 to 50 and GRP up to about 30. We check its condition and the signs of age.

Tips that help

Small things make a difference, both for the survey and for the roof itself. Our tips:

  • Do not climb onto the roof yourself
  • Let us know about any leaks or stains you’ve seen
  • File the report with your home documents
  • Photograph stains when they appear

Your report arrives by email, with photos of what we found. Turnaround is within 48 hours for Basic, 24 to 48 hours for Standard and the same day for Premium. Findings are explained in plain words, with recommendations.

Plan a roof survey every few years, or sooner after severe weather. Routine surveys pick up wear before it leaks. Each report gives a record to compare against.

What we are asked to look at in CR0

Slates and tiles frequently outlast the fixings that hold them. On slate roofs, corroded nails let slates slip, which is known as ‘nail fatigue’. On tiled roofs, battens and pegs can rot, letting tiles move.

A survey makes sense if you’ve noticed:

  • Valley linings that have cracked or split
  • Cracked mortar along the ridge
  • Ponding, splits or blisters on flat roofs
  • Leaning or weathered chimney stacks

Can I check my roof myself?

Watch the gutters in a downpour, from a window or the ground. Overflowing water can be a sign of a blockage or a gutter that has dropped.

After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Do not go up yourself.

Questions from CR0

What does a roof survey include?

We check the coverings, ridges, hips, valleys, flashings, chimneys and gutters, plus the loft space where there is safe access. You get a report with photographs and recommendations.

Is this a RICS survey?

No. We are experienced roof surveyors, and our survey covers the roof rather than the whole building. If you need a full building survey, you’ll need a RICS survey as well.

Are you insured?

Our cover is professional indemnity plus public liability, and details are available on request.

Do you go up on the roof?

When the roof and the conditions make it safe, yes. We also use views from ground level, windows and the roof space.

Does the weather affect the survey?

It can, depending on the survey. Drones cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best after a sunny day, with a dry roof and little wind. We will rearrange with you if the weather is not right.

What’s the best way to book?

It’s easiest to ring 07833 053749 or send us an email. Let us know the address and a little about the roof. We survey on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Is CR0 in your area?

Yes. We cover CR0 and the rest of Greater London, as part of our work across London and South East England. For a price, ring 07833 053749 or email us.
